😊 Hey guys! We created the Chase Car channel to give viewers a broad overview of the upcoming new cars from the top car manufacturers. We are huge fans of pickup trucks of all sizes: compact, mid-size and full-size trucks. So mostly, we will cover new upcoming trucks, but besides that, here you can find a lot of content about new sedans and SUVs too.
The Electric Vehicle wave sooner or later will become huge, so this type of content might appear on this channel from time to time. But as we are still on the way to becoming fully electrical, we mostly cover fossil cars from many amazing brands.

My big question, will it be coming to the USA? It already sucks that we can't get the Hilux. Are they going to tease us with another truck that it's affordable but we can't get?

You should just wait until GMC releases the Cyclone with 550 HP and at the same price point or slightly higher than the Maverick is now this 10K Toyota will be a stripped down terd and not a TRD and you wont get it for 10K either way

Not buying your assertion that this will be an EV. A battery costs $10k in an EV. I could see them putting a 3-cylinder ICE in this. If it's a 4, I would buy one for my kids.

i had a '79 ford courier, which is about as minimalist as it gets: mazda 2000 chasis, and ford 2.3L engine. great truck!! i wish i still had it, but i crashed it. i'm now 62, and i'd buy one of these in a HEARTBEAT and never look back. a toyota pickup, new for $10k? FUCK YEAH! i wouldn't even care what motor they put in it. it's like marrying a virgin: i'm sure it will fit. anything they put in there will be fine. i drive an '08 lexus (toyota) rx350 now. best car i ever had.

my brother just picked up a grey market kei truck with a dump bed. it's a neat little rig and can run around in town. I would never want to drive on on the highways, and question their actual safety in a crash. some states are bowing to lobbying and banning them or just preventing registration for road use at all.
do we need a big truck for all tasks? no. and because so many are buying the Kei trucks instead of the behemoths for $40K-$120K+, the manufacturers are ready & willing to pay lobbyists to get legislation passed forcing out this segment.

Why are videos about this showing up in the USA? We can't get this truck here. It can't even be imported because it does not meet NHTSA requirements. There are a LOT of new cheap cars being sold around the world. All of which are not legal in the US. Now, if they make a truck with good power and 4WD without all the luxury electronics and interior here in the US and sell it for $12-17k, I'll check it out.

Assuming the 10k price tag is for the minimum viable product version, a comfortable version should still be below 15k, and not everybody in the world is wealthy enough to willingly spend more than necessary.

I’ve driven GM cars and trucks since 1973.
I bought a 83 S10 and put 360k miles on it. Next was a 97 S10 that went over 300k mile. Next was a 2008 full sized Chevy. Fine until 65k miles and fell apart. I spent more on the 08 than both S10 trying to go from 65k to 130k miles.
My next vehicle will be a Toyota.
But I will not have one if it’s an EV. Spending big money for maintenance on a truck you plan to go to 300k miles is a no go.

Makes sense to me. Getting back to basics. An engine , a cab, and a bed... Only problem is that individuals that have paid way to much ($50K plus) for their trucks will be trying to run over them!!!

I think you could improve on the body style quite a bit. I realized it's only a concept truck but keep the KEI image like the Toyota Town Ace with a diesel in the rear or mid box! By the way I own a 95 JDM Honda SDX 4x4 acty so I know what I'm talking about here in the states! Build them and the Americans will buy a no Frill practical KEI truck! I know every day a American wants to buy my 25 + year old Honda!

the real problem is the EPA and the requirements for fuel economy have forced small trucks out entirely. the bigger and heavier a truck is, the lower the fuel consumption can be. a small, light truck would have to get 50+mpg to meet the regulation and since they can't do it, just make them bigger & heavier.

i'm all for Toyota doing this, make them cheap in the US too (doubt that will actually happen). I might consider it for a daily driver if they prove safe & reliable.
That said, BYD doesn't have much of a reputation for quality, they're infernos waiting to happen and there are acres upon acres of them parked in fields in China, because nobody will buy them, even in China. I'm all for Toyota proving me wrong on this, though.
