Dr. Lori I cannot express to you in words how much I adore you, I respect and admire you. the mere fact that you're courageous enough to stand up and tell the truth in a day where truth is not honored as much as it used to be. I just want to say I love you dr. Lori! thank you for being you! much love and life from Ohio .
I'm a teacher and have been thrifting and reselling for about a year for extra income. I really enjoy it and have found your videos to be very helpful. Could you one day do a video about silverware and flatware? Not sure if you already have, but I see tubs of forks, knives, spoons, and serverware at most thrift and goodwill stores and always so overwhelmed by it. I bet there are some hidden gems in those tubs!
This is awesome Dr. Lori. I’ve found some beautiful paintings as well. I purchased a painting on a piece of papyrus with Egyptian symbols. Pretty cool. I might keep it. I bought an original Thomas Kinkade but that doesn’t seem to be worth anything to my knowledge. I started painting last summer with acrylic & now oils because it has helped me identify some gorgeous pieces of art out in the world. One of my favorite oil painting facts that made me appreciate it so much more was the drying time on an oil painting. Up to 1 whole year on some. Incredible
I've been to DC many times. Do you have a financial advisor? A favorite thrift store or antique mall? Tell them to invite and host me. That's how my events get scheduled in DC :)
still here watching all your wonderful videos!!..still learning from each and every one! The knowledge, the up front & oh so refreshing honesty, combined with your wonderful sense of humor makes the absolute best entertainment for me! Love my @Dr.Lori
@Dr.Lori "well" is probably not the best word to describe my world currently but, keeping a smile anyways!! Thank you so much for the well wishes my friend! Much appreciation & love to you!
I just found you.. I have so much stuff. Paintings, jubs lamps, records, dishes, figurines, stamps, postcards... much, much more. And I never knew where to go.. I'm def leaning alot. But would love to find somewhere to sell all our stuff. We have no use for it. We moved into a home with everything and need to clean out and make room and be nice to set up for our kids
Dr Lori-another set of amazing thrift store appraisals. I am unclear how frames can hold value as in the last example. Has this been covered in a previous video?
Hi Dr Lori. I’ve been binge watching your videos & learning along. I found a Mary Vickers etching called engagement, but can seem to find any information on it. It’s signed by her & apparently it was in an art gallery in Chicago. There’s a certificate of authenticity attached to it. Thanks for sharing your videos.
I am new to your channel and am fascinated with your knowledge Do you have any expertise in lithography? I have Currier and Ives thrift shop find that appears to be a lithograph but I need an expert to appraise it and I have no idea who to go to.
hello Dr.Lori. I have been watching your videos all day. I really would like to know about a couple of painting that i have. is your website the best way? I notice on a video you said to email you pictures and you would tell if its worth getting appraised or not. Thank you for all your knowledge and content. I am still learning but i am learning a lot. My online appraisal reports include a location where a similar piece sold and for how much. People use the reports all the time to help them sell pieces.
The painting of the girl with the doll on the chair is it worth $7,500 as is ? and is it worth restoring ? after having it restored ,would the value go up ? once you know the value; what is the best way to sell it ? auction ?
My values are based on actual sales for similar pieces in their current condition as I'm reviewing them. As far as cleaning, you may want to watch my short vid on the subject at ruclips.net/video/drToAWSspDY/видео.html. Also, you may want to read my blog post about selling at auction at www.drloriv.com/Blog/ID/4577/3-Auction-Selling-Tips
It's terrible how smoke ruins paintings I remember years ago I used to smoke and I ask the surgeon How could he tell if somebody smoked or not because when you go into an operation you have to sign in some cases whether you smoke or not and I said to him you know anybody could lie on their and save that they don't smoke and he told me he knew whether they were lying or not as soon as he cut into their flesh Because apparently as soon as he cuts into somebody's flesh he Is able to see the pores and if the pores are full of smoke He says it's like taking a sponge and dipping it in to nicotine And when you pull it up out of the nicotine the sponge gathers all that So I didn't know that
I understand the appraised values and that people donate what they don't know they have but....where are the best places to sell items to get close to the appraised value? Ebay doesn't cut it usually. On Facebook market people want stuff for free almost.
Good question. It depends on the piece. It's also when as well as where! I offer many specifics in my blog posts on my website. I also prepare online appraisal reports for items that show you the locations where a piece sold. I use these sales locations to arrive at my appraised values.
Hi I have a pics of art done in black ink and in a plaster picher frame. That is in bad shape held in with some kind of nails. With three lady's playing instruments on a thin cloth base. Can you help pleas..

Became a fan of yours when I saw you dress down that pretend expert on one of your videos. Thanks for letting people know to watch out and try to learn what they have.
Lost both my parents and got taken by people who "know what they're talking about " and "just trying to help ". It's hard to enough to make important decisions, much harder when you're grief-wracked. Dr. Lori, I will certainly contact you if I don't know what I have. Thanks again.
stephen B I'm sorry about your parents, I can't imagine your loss and I hope you're healing. Stephen would you happen to remember what video Dr. Lori dressed down the pretend expert? I too have just had a run in and would love seeing Lori take aim and fire. I hope you have a nice weekend, stay safe.

I can help using my Ph.D. in art history to verify that the works are really paintings created by the artist you mentioned. Then, I can determine what people really pay for similar works. I can look at the works at one of my events, I can look at photos submitted on my website, or we could schedule a FaceTime or Skype call. Which might you prefer? See details too on my website.
