Where are you from? I liked the man who said he's from planet Earth. We are from where we grew up, where we identify. Perhaps where our cultural roots are (at least in my case). Identity can be multiple.
Asking a question like this is really asking where your ancestors are from. In my case from France and from Bosnia, as far as I can tell. But I lived in Australia 26 years, speak better English than French, cannot speak the Croatian language my father spoke, and have lived in Spain for 20 years, and in Catalonia for almost 15 years. So where am I from? I was born in France, but have almost never lived there. I would ask white French people who don't like French people of North African descent, who is mor French, them or me? They have lived there all or most of their lives, can speak French better than me, know France better than me, but are rejected by French racists.
Women like Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocaso Cortez are my heroes. It's fantastic they are doing what they do.

I’m Canadian. I was born in North Western Ontario. I’m technically mixed race but look white. I’m mostly Irish, Scottish, British, French and Scandinavian. I’m not sure exactly where my black ancestors were from because they were slaves.

So the guy from Ireland ; is he really from Ireland! I'm an immigrant and I have what has always been refereed to as having olive skin, I find a lot of stuff (not all stuff) about race a bit tedious. I have always been an outsider even in my country of birth simply because i was always moving to a new area, being different and an outsider doesn't have to come down to race.

As a white person of Southern European descent I get asked this question from Middle Easterners. A Lot. Never from people of Northern European descent. People of Middle Eastern descent do this far more often than people European descent do.

The place you are from is where you are born. The correct question you want answered is where is your ancestory from. Here's the thing about Americans, especially those that are several generations in, we're a melting pot. True Americans celebrate culture not race, the only reason we even notice race is because it's shoved down our throats. People came to the US from all over because they could bring the good parts of their culture & assimilate into it into the US culture while leaving the bad stuff back in their communist/socialist country. Some of my ancestors have been here since the pilgrams, some of them came later, some of them were here before the pilgrams. I have Celt, Hun, Cherokee, Germany, & all sorts of other cultures in my heritage. I am from a region in the US that is considered extremely racist & intolerant. In actuality we are the people who celebrate cultures & ignore race. We see the value in knowing your history whether you agree with your ancestors or not. We recognize the danger of demonizing one set of people & trying to erase them. Stop trying to bait people into feeling bad because their people have been here for many generations. Stop acting like no other countries would have come & settled on North America is the English didn't do it. Other countries were also trying to settle here like Spain.
