0:00 Hello Everyone
03:00 Game Starts!
"The 7th Interzonal took place in Sousse (Tunisia) from October 15 to November 16, 1967. Four of the six forerunners had been organized by Sweden. For the first time a FIDE-Tournament took place in Africa, a remarkable propagandistic success for the FIDE. Out of the 66 member nations only two are from Africa, Tunisia and South Africa. They are integrated into the West European Zone. It is not the fault of the organizers, who have really given their best, that Sousse received great publicity, not only because of the chess deeds, but above all because of the "Fischer case". Robert Fischer, US Champion and one of the best players of our times, but unfortunately bare of sporting spirit and diplomatic ability, opposed himself wholly unjustified to the tournament regulations, which had been bent especially for Fischer and Reshevsky to meet their religious feelings. It seems obvious that such far-reaching concessions - Friday no play, Saturday begin only after 7 p.m., no play on four special Jewish holidays - anticipates also adaptations by the players. Reshevsky honoured the concessions made, Fischer did not. Not even when the secretary of the US Embassy in Tunis reminded him to think himself a representative of the United States. He answered: I am here as a representative of Robert Fischer! After Fischer did not appear three times for play, he had to be eliminated. As sad and regrettable the elimination of Fischer is - maybe he would have become the first non-Russian World Champion since 1948 - it is obvious, that no player, not even the World Champion himself, can put himself above the regulations of the FIDE. Fischer barred himself from becoming World Champion for five years, the title fight after the present cycle will take place in 1972." (p. 5) www.chessgames.com/perl/chess...

Reshevskys pic looks like he is having a heart attack from a blunder 😂
My Gosh Reshevsky plays like he just started his chess journey. I am telling you if he plays me like he did here I would also beat him. He is playing like Magnus would say, " A DESPERATE MAN"! His pieces are all over the place and not doing nothing. he is also down material and he wants to trade more pieces? Are we serious? Bobby can beat him with just a queen a bishops and sacrifice every other piece. And to better say this, he doesnt even need a queen . Just a a bishop and a rook
He appears to ne pouting a bit, but part of it is a result of the AI upscaling and colorization tool. That thing often confuses shadows and sweat for wrinkles and gives people an uncanny or outright different look.
On adjournment, "Karpov would have an entire team of Soviet Grandmasters looking for poison in the position. And if you were Fischer, you'd do it all by yourself." Let that statement sink in.
Adjournments were fun, I remember the 70s tournaments when matches reached their adjournment move, the next day newspapers published the position and we had the opportunity to analyze it, nowadays that was lost sadly.

“I like the moment when I break a man's ego” ― Bobby Fischer
Proceeds to gaslight his way into everyone's head.
Chess and how it’s played on the GM level must’ve changed a lot with the invent of engines it’s funny in a way because no way could an adjournment be possible these days when players could be running moves through Stockfish it’s just another reason why players from pre engine days deserve much respect they relied on their own knowledge and talent
Endgames are calculable determined, openenings are studied to death today; it's the middlegame which makes chess interesting. With players like Tal for example
@@kirjuschaks right I think even my games (amateur) things swing toward one player or the other in the middle game than it’s about using the advantage in the end game to get it done but games can be very close in the end game decided by whomever makes the better move or whomever Blunders
Do you remember the marshall attack? Marshall needed years to develop this opening against capablanca, who by the way was not studying openings, still capablanca managed to outplay him because he has superior endgame. I think it's the same with Magnus, he is world's best chess player because he shows nearly no weakness at the end of games
Robby Fischer is my uncle’s name. No wonder you talk about his vast knowledge of chess in so many videos.
"I like the moment I break a man's ego" truly manifested in this game😂
Historical Agadmator is the best Agadmator! The old games and stories of these titans are fascinating.
Something was definitely lost with the rise of the (chess) machines
Reshevsky was born in 1911! Reshevsky was good in 1825-1950! Fischer never faced good Reshevsky!
Reshevsky was good 1935-1950
Robbie Fischer has always been my favourite player
Second only to the late Bobby Fischer. Of course.
Agadmator should start giving us a brief story about the statements he quotes at the top
I am a simple man, i see fischer, i click! 🤷🏻♂️
There he is
The simple clicker!
@@Jacob99174 🤣🤣
The thing about Bobby was that he just made it look so easy. It's like " Of course you would put that piece there." Such an elegant and thoughtful player.
I disagree
he was lucky to be born in the era without Garry_Kasparov
@@ndnd7614why?
@@gooddognigel9992 Fischer whole schtick is that he beat the Soviet Union grandmasters who at the time were seen as dominant. However he wouldn’t have beaten Kasparov. He even ran away from the match against Karpov because he didn’t want to risk losing and tarnish his image.
@@ndnd7614 how will you prove Fischer wouldn’t have defeated Kasparov?
small correction, from Sousse to Tunis airport is roughly 100 miles so little over 160 km but back then no major highways so it would've taken him around 2 to 2 and half hours
Only Bobby could have a somewhat equal looking position except with tripled pawns and still be winning. crazy

Please cover the following games from the Sousse Interzonal 1967:
1. I Bilek vs Larsen
2. Giplis vs Larsen
3. Suttles vs Korchnoi
4. M Cuellar Gacharna vs Fischer
Larsen was a weak player anyway .. Fisher crushed him easily
@@ziedyacoub8488 Fischer crushed almost everyone in their prime. Doesn't mean Larsen was weak. He was very strong player
Bobby Fisher had the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.
Thank you Antonio. Best chess channel online. Agadmator’s Chess Channel
The constant pressure from Bobby's bishops in the game was amazing.
The scenario surrounding this game - and in fact, the tournament, the reasons Fischer left Sousse, etc... - is discussed in "Profile of a Progidy" by Frank Brady (my favorite Fischer bio).
0:30 ah yes. The unsung legend. Robbie Coltrane Fischer.
You are a funny person (full of humor), thank you!
Love these Interzonal games. More please!
6:29 probably the first time many of us have seen tripled pawns on the g file. And it wasn’t even played.
We teen boys in the 60s knew Fisher's games before he was a household name from being in the news. It all came from the book, life and games of bobby fisher.
"My 60 Most Memorable Flexes" -- Bobby Fischer
Wow rating performance of 3100 or even 3200??? From Bobby? Never knew that that is incredible.
He won the U.S. championship in 1964 with 11/11, it was definitely possible.
During Fischer's excellent run from 1969 to 1971, Fischer played Spasky in 1970 Olympiad and lost the game this may be one vital information that you had missed in Fischer saga.
Love the added historical discussion!
Perfect timing👌
1:14 wait...what just agad said😮
1967,68,69 fischer performance with......!!!
10:47 For beginners: the knight is not trapped, clearly. You do have Ke6. What he means is you can capture with the tower and if the pawn recaptures you have Rd8 and black can't stop promotion.
Yeah, I got stuck in the same second of the video looking at Ne6.
Fischer was a beast
People often forget that Fischer's antics were underpinned by serious mental health issues, that eventually caught up with him later in life.
Yeah, his demise was very sad, he died far away from his home basically banished into exile because he wanted.
I read about him in some articles, he was shaped by his mother's political views, ultimately causing him to develop a controversial point of view himself and getting sick.
You're the one with mental health issues. Bobby was right in AND out of chess.
What antics? Did you mean his demands for improvements in chess hall lighting and noise reduction? Did you mean his demands for a personal fee to attend a chess tournament? Fischer demanded richer purses not only to validate his self-worth but because he was convinced promoters were out to fleece him.
The man was weird and a genius at the same time. I don’t respect his antics to other players one bit
@@davidwillacy4796 his opponents said he always demonstrated good sportsmanship OTB win, lose, or draw
11:15 you know, for all the hate that Bobby Fischer has for engines, the one good thing about them is that they close the gap. You can no longer be outdone in preparation by someone who has more resources as both the current strongest engines in the world (Stockfish and Leela) are freely available to the public
Talking about Fischer... Fischer Random in this case: Fedoseev-Lazavik 1.5-0.5, Chess960 champs, 2nd game. #suggestion
Reminds of Michael Jordan revenge videos
All respect to RJF and MJ. They were both probably clinically psychopaths. True with a lot of “great” men.
Bobby Fischer is such a nostalgic figure for me growing up I would hear how great he was I wish I had followed GM games back than but I didn’t I also remember the Invent of Big Blue touted as a machine that can defeat the best human players
I followed the Fischer-Spassky tournament but I was only 14 years old and didn't understand any of the subtleties. I needed Agadmator back then.
I'm a simple man, I see Bobby Fischer I click!
AKA “How Agad uses psychology to make me watch.” :)
I guess dueing adjournments, the last move is decided and made secret to balance out advantages..
Correct. The player with the next move was required to write down his/her move and seal it prior to adjournment. That made it somewhat more difficult to prepare the continuation.
Fischer likes to play mind games.
Just realized the border around agad is the hearthstone box
Bobby straight disrespected this man. I love it.
Fischer did have "seconds" to study adjourned games, as the Soviets had entire teams of GMs. He just didn't need them!
Great game 🙂

Svetozar Gligorić saga
@agadmator, Let me correct the information. I'm from Tunisia. Sousse is only 165 km(almost 100 miles) from Tunis airport. Thank you
Anyone know a good response to 5:32 if we shut down the Queen eyeing the diagonal with d5 instead of what was played (Rd1) ?
Fischer 😎
Hello everyone ! I know @agadmator didn't want to trick us but Sousse is actually 140km away from Tunis. Not that it changes anything, but just wanted to clarify it.
Not with 1967 roads! :)
@@agadmator Aaaah! Good catch ! Always super precise :) Love your videos. All the best
Gotta love the shithousery from Reshevsky adjourning and making Fischer wait for him like he was made wait at the start. Proper needle.
You mentioned that Bobby arrived late but you said nothing about the time format and the increment. If you'll continue this series I'd (and probably others) would appreaciate an explanation for it #suggestion
How much time Fischer had left when the Game finished? The 5min continue on the next day?
1:39 round 11 vs Samuel reshevsky 😂😂 since Fisher came for last 5 minutes
#suggestion; hi Agad; thanks for your wonderful videos. I would love to know Fischers ELO rating in the US championship which he won 11-0 and also in the 1971 candidates. Please help.
Chess has such a beautiful and long history I love it 🙂 anyone can you recommend to me the best chess history book there is? Would love to read it 😊
At what move did we get a new game?
Tunis to sousse is around 150 km
doesn't knight to e6 save pawn promotion for black?
Something happened to Fischer in 1955 - 56 as he dramatically increased his playing strength and something similar happened 10 years later.
Quite unusual amongst the very best.
1955-56 was when he entered teenage, so his playing strength obviously increased due to his growing maturity. After that he got increasingly stronger with every passing year, there was no sudden jump but his improvement was spectacular indeed.
you're suggesting another Hans scandal there?
Again Bobby Fischer
This sounds like Alireza saying he is gonna withdrew the Bullet Championship, unless he gets a 20Minute break, then after he is granted the break he destroys Hikaru!! 🤣😂
I would be pissed as well if a dead Alekhine walked through the door to play against me with white pieces😢
Reshevsky was very prickly towards Fischer as he was being displaced as the best American player. Reshevsky had never been a professional, and made his living as an accountant; as a result he tended to have fairly rickety opening preparation and to have time trouble. He finished equal third in the 1948 tournament that made Botvinnik World Champion after Alekhine’s death despite the squads of Soviet seconds and probable collusion, and because he would not play on the Jewish Sabbath or holidays. In the world top five from the 1940’s until around 1957, he last approached WC contention when he lost a match for a Candidates placement in 1964.
Fischer himself said he thought Reshevsky was world #1 in the mid 1950’s and respected him. Sammy probably regretted that he did not go pro and push for the title.
One of the strongest non-pros ever, with GMs Euwe, Panno, Hübner, Unzicker, and others.
🥇
What is the result of Fischer Vs. Reshevsky ?
reshevsky did not return because even your uncle could finish that game
My uncle’s name is Robbie Fischer, coincidentally. 🤣

The next tournament I enter, I will also demand a French translator, and refuse to play Fischer.

Howdy 🤠
Obstinance meets Obstinance.

I've always been fascinated how a genius like him can so mad. in the end he hated america and Jews, whom he blamed for all the worlds problems.
his biggest achievement i believe is fischer random
he played all this in 5 mins?
Bobby Fisher, the most unsympathetic player ever lived
Why would Reshevsky ask for a French translator if he was Polish?
How was Bobby anti-semitic yet friends with Sam Reshevsky, the Polgar's, Jeremy Schaap's dad, Arthur Bisguier, Mikhail Tal & Boris Spassky?
I don't think he was friends for very long with Reshevsky. See Agad's quote from Reshevsky above the game board.
@@user-hn8lm8th8k
Right thanks. Same with the others?
Anti-Semite is absurd. Take an honest objective look at the facts. Bobby was Jewish! Lol
Like many antisemites, I think he made exceptions for some Jews he knew personally.
@@woodahbase
Oh right thanks. like 'dolfhit' who made exceptions for childhood doctor. Lol. But which Jewish chess players did Bobby have beef with besides Petrosian, Keres, Geller, Kasparov, Karpov, Korchnoi, Jeremy Silman, Sumner Redstone & the Waitzkin's?
Ok that's a long list already. Lol. 10 friendly (5 Polgar's) Vs 10 enemies (2 waitzkin).
Btw for gentile American friends there's Pal Benko, William Lombardy, Carmine Nigro & Lotis Key's sister. So 15 friendly. Yay!
Lot of info.. Bit more the what is required.... Show the game quicker
If you don't like it go watch gotham. Agad is about chess and all its rich history.
As far as I know Boby Fisher was agreed for draw against Boris Spasky but Spasky my favorite player greatest mathematics excerpt didn't agreed for draw but he won
After losing Fisher like a child started crying against.. but not against Spasky but Spasky realized because Fisher is weaping like a child because after dropped nuclear bomb on Japan so Americans are greatest of all
So finally Russian Boris Spasky just acting like a so losing to Boby Fisher because Boris Spasky didn't want to hurt Fisher feeling greatest gem is Boris Spasky
wtf r u talking about
There are anecdotes about the magnanimity of Spassky. He seems to be a unique sort of grandmaster, indeed. For instance when he stood and applauded Fischers win over him in the championship match, despite Fischer causing many problems for him and his team. He also thanked Fischer for making the demands that ended up making him a rich man even after the loss of the title in 72. I am sure they probably were good friends despite all of the controversy and acrimony, which it seems Spassky took in stride as he accepted the bad for the good that came of it.
@@andress4780 Spasskys character, his kind and forgiving nature.
If no other metric were capable of elevating Fischer to the very top of the Chess Gods (with the *possible* exceptions of Morphy and Carlsen), then all you have to do is marvel at how Fischer analyzed all his adjournments by himself. I suspect that even if he had had access to an engine with at least Big Blue's capability, he would have scoffed at the idea and called it a perversion of the game. And rightly so.
Fisher for antonio is like magnus for levi
