Thank you so much for the video! It is so lovely to see Elysium still getting some love all these years after it was first released. And who knows, maybe there might be a surprise or two in its future ;)
What I love is the fact you pull out these older, but really great!, games. It’s fantastic to see these strong games being played. They still are fighting strong amongst all the new titles.
Never heard about this game until yesterday when I got it from a friend. Glad to see that you guys made a playthrough! It looked like you were having lots of fun playing it. :) Hope I can bring this one to the table soon!
Also wanted to say that I love hearing your thoughts on games that you learned when you were early into the hobby - both what you thought then and what you think now. And it's really helpful to hear which parts of games you may have struggled with as it helps me emphasize those parts when teaching the game.
Questions........... I may not be clear on card abilities so just wanted clarification. @31:28 Monique gains 1 gold when she triggers the worlshop card. Then @31:46 she transfers legendary loot which costs 3 but only pays 2 as she uses workshops ability again. Does the card trigger for every card transferred or only once during transfer phase?? Also the tartarus card says 1 point for each set of 2 cards. I interpreted that as meaning for every 2 cards you get a point. So if you have 11 cards, you'd receive 5 points. If so, Monique shorted herself out of 4 points at the end. Naveen still wins but it's a closer game 😉.
That's is a game which deserves a lot of attention. Thanks for the video and Kudos for Patreon community for proposing such gem. All the best to you guys, awesome video as per usual.
What a sleeper this handsome game is. Elegant play too. How did this thing disappear like a smooth stone in the water? Never hear about it. Thx, you two. You could do a 'top sleepers' video (Elysium, Trismegistus, etc.). BTW, I've seen guitars in the background before, now a keyboard. Do y'all do music videos?
54:42: "The colors in the top right corner is not what you spend. That's what you see in like 7 Wonders, you spend what's there. No, here you just need to have it." I would say it's exactly how it works in 7 Wonders - you just need to have the resources in the top corner, you don't spend them.
Thank you for watching! Some games we are sponsored by the publisher to create either a tutorial or a playthrough video for. For those videos we don't include a review
Great video. Think I’m actually gunna pick this up right now. Looks like a very fun set collecting game with fun end game victory points and beautiful production . Honestly affordable too.
It is a different game at 2P but there are GREAT variants on BGG. This game if it gets reprinted needs moreconcerted 2 player rules and expansion content
Never played with 2-p BBG variant. Ive to check it out. i agree, with 2 players, the battle for quest is less dramatic. Almost never flunk a quest with 2 players
We ve tested the 2-p variant with 5 cards per level (keeping the two eleusis for the "2" + one randomly taken), and playing 7 epochs. Works reallly fine. I wish the hunt for the quest could be changed as well. With each quest available with two colors, there is not a lot of tension, IMO
Maybe this is just my OCD with wanting to sleeve everything but I definitely recommend it for this game. It gives the cards a more premium feel and makes shuffling them without damaging them a lot easier thus meaning you'll be more likely to play with the different combinations listed in the rulebook. Just a thought to get maximum value from the game as those different combinations of decks really changes the game up. If the players don't like an aspect of the game with one of the decks, no problem! Just try a different combination.
I've played this game once like 7 years back and it was good only. but watching the playthrough makes me think that this should be an awesome game instead!! simple yet beautiful play!
While I really like this game, I'd disagree that it NEEDS an expansion. It's a great value package with a lot of replayability out of the box. But I would certainly buy an expansion.
@23:23 The fact that your "Player board" pieces are swapped and the Lyre drawing doesn't align keeps drawing my attention to it xD It's quite distracting

Well THAT sounds awesome !
This is an all timer favorite of ours... if something new is coming out for it, Im all over it! Happy to see it getting a playthrough!
Ok this comment just made my week
Eh, Matthew we still wait for an expansion for this amazing game !
really.. i mean REALLY looking forward to it
Reviewing some "older" games is my favourite Content.

We love older games! We really want to find more older, but excellent titles.

So great to see you focusing on this underrated game!
We love it!!
The year of Naveeeeeen! Also I quite like this game. Have only played it once though.
Got this game based on you having it in your top 50. Really enjoying it and I think of you two every time I bring it out!
Awwww, miss you Mark!

Aww that's a really great perspective to hear and we're both so glad it helps with teaching. Thanks so much Mark!

Cool! I've been interested on this one for awhile...thank you!
Thanks Erich, you are very welcome!
An excellent game! Highly underrated! Desperately in need of a facelift and reprint. Great Game glad you both covered it
Cool game, and your enthusiasm for it shines through. Good choice, Patreons!
Thank you!
you are the best guys, keep up this amazing work
Thank you!!! Much appreciated!! 🥰

Yeah we absolutely love it! It's one of the games that grabbed us big time when we first got into the hobby too!
@@BeforeYouPlay Haha; nice sidestep on the last part? All cool.
@@ButOneThingIsNeedful OOPS! We just play casually, no side youtube channels hehe
@@BeforeYouPlay 👍 Ok. Love music so much.💙
Oh this game looks gorgeous. I have to try find it now. I hope it is still available.
Such a cool game. I need to take it off the shelf and play it some time soon.
One of the most underrated games ever. Neck to neck with SoA: Man of Mayhem.
Totally agree!
100% this one has stayed consistently great for 6+ years of ownership!
@Before You Play one of the rare games I never thought needed an expansion
Great video as always
INCREDIBLY underrated game, and its always made me sad it never got an expansion. This needs more love!
I love playing along with them ❤❤❤

You're absolutely right
Elysium is such a great game, very underrated. I'd love some expansion content for it too.
Thank you for the video. I have watched a couple of your videos, just wondering why you only review some games instead of all?
Thank you for watching! Some games we are sponsored by the publisher to create either a tutorial or a playthrough video for. For those videos we don't include a review
Elysium is so good! I own it as well, and it's in my Top 100 for sure. I wish they made more content for it.
Some really cool people introduced this game to me years ago and I still love it.
Haha glad you're still loving it, Michael
Great video. Think I’m actually gunna pick this up right now. Looks like a very fun set collecting game with fun end game victory points and beautiful production . Honestly affordable too.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing video! Maybe this will inspire an expansion.
Really hoping so!
Probably my favorite medium weight game.
awesome! got a copy a few months ago, so this comes at excellent time
Nice!!
Nice review - I still love Elysium

Oh thanks for mentioning that! We haven't tried the variants but we will definitely check them out

Yeah, this game probably benefits from sleeving so that you don't break down the cards quickly
Will this game ever get a reprint
I hope, it absolutley deserves it. Toss in an expansion too please! 🙏
This game is so amazing. It REALLY needs an expansion. Pretty please?
Ahhh one of my favorites. I love this game
Thanks, us too!
I love this game!

this game is GREAT.. it s really one which passes the proof of time hands down. It s easy to explain, it sdeep but not "mathy", great interaction.
Yeah, absolutely!
Oooohhh ... One of my faves :)
@23:23 The fact that your "Player board" pieces are swapped and the Lyre drawing doesn't align keeps drawing my attention to it xD It's quite distracting
OH! oh my gosh we didn't realize that! lol. So sorry
Such a great game, an expansion would be amazing but the chances are slim :(
Still hoping for one!
Epoch, not epic!
these epochs were epic...
