Lyman isn't a strategic transport hub. There is nothing strategic about this town with population before the war of roughly 20 000. Russians took it only in May this year. For purely political reasons Zelenskyy wasted his last reserves on this venture trying to capture it by September 30 deadline. No Russian troops were encircled in and around the town.
I think I'll listen to the geopolitical experts, and not some degenerate on RUclips.

Russia determined Lyman not to be defensible so it offered evacuation to its citizens prior to retreating (about 200 citizens accepted). This was a tactical decision for Russia. Not a military win for Ukraine. Can we get some accurate reporting - ever?

However some tactics may deviate from the strategy or things change so some tactics will no longer work, and that is perfectly acceptable (in progect management or in war or at school) so we simply change the tactics but keep the vision (stratgy) the same. Actually there's a LOT more advanced and powerful "everything" being provided to Ukraine from NATO countries. Russians have more equipment but they're cold war era trash. Also corruption allowed the manufacturing of their weapons to be sub par (the officers pocketed the funds and gave the defence contractors less money so they cut corners). Also their equipment is being used by soldiers who aren't trained and are being sent to die. These soldiers literally do not want to fight for russia but they have no choice. It's so sad but the russian soldiers are faced with death if they fight or don't.
