  • @dante2804

The problem with EA owning Codemasters and therefore Codemasters making the game is that they are focusing more on how to charge more money to the costumers than to make the best game they can.
We are in a day and age where big companies are going heavy on live service games to profit as much as they can while releasing sub par products. Unfortunately even in racing games this will be the norm. For the F1 game to be great again they would have to be developed by either an indie studio, as you said maybe Kunos (if they are still considered indie) and I don't really see that happening.
We don't know the length of the contract that FIA has with EA and we don't know if the FIA actually cares much about the state of the official F1 games as to chose a different developer/distributor. As far as I am concerned the FIA will only care about the $$$ and as long as the game sells they're ok with it.

Btw, AC2 is set to launch next year. Many of the limitations will theoretically not exist anymore. I expect multiplayer to be vastly superior, besides graphics and the simulation itself.
Btw, any plans to go back to ACC on low fuel motorsports for fun any day?

Honestly if your not driving in cockpit view on F123 your missing out also. the way the car handles feels much more natural. all this said the F1 games need to make huge improvements in graphics and feedback. night graphics are almost unplayable in cockpit view. - one of the biggest things is how the weight transfers, in ACC its like 100x better

The problem is they need to appeal to mass market. Not everyone is a competent racer and in making a true sim style F1 game they will alienate a good number of their buyers. They are just playing the numbers sticking to the format they have now.

So mostly depens what you are searching for. This year i love handling most. My perfect mix would be more AC handling, management from Manager to my team and driver career as it is.

Also graphics do not look like that without Reshade etc. But as a platform, AC is superior and the real power of it is modability and the huge modding community.

If there is a market for making superficial changes to the handling model, updating liveries and slightly improving career/my team then that’s great for those that love that and great for codies. For the rest of us, give another option called ‘sim mode’ and that can be our game that is completely changed to a more realistic handling model that’s only objective is to incrementally (or drastically)improve in the ways that is important to sim/league/esport racers.

Having been around the f1 games since f1 97 through the Sony years, the Codemasters years killed off the f1 games for me. Ive always found they never listen to the community and built a game that Codemasters want rather than what the fans want, shown by the introduction of the F1 world and lack of soul or “feeling” of f1.
Ive never once felt i was in the “f1 universe” rather than an f1 a like game. It looks like f1 but lacks the atmosphere the old sony games hd in spades with the timing graphics and yes the commentary. I used to play full race distance races and still play f1 97 today as i feel it captured the essence of formula one for the time whereas i never feel i’m in that space and get bored by the inconsistent handling and ai and i never feel there is a race going on around me. If they can tap in the soul of why we tune in each Sunday the maybe things will change but as long as Lee Mather and the team (who seemed to have disappeared as time has gone on) hold the reigns I’m not expecting any big changes in terms of experiences

If they just focused on improving the force feedback. EVERYTHING in a racing game/sim is experienced through FFB. The way tyres grip the road, tyre slip, under/oversteer, on the limit, over it and under it, bumps, lumps and rivets, spins, bumps, under rotation, over rotation; all they need to do to start is focus on their force feed back.

  • @jurygamper1252
    @jurygamper1252 6 месяцев назад

The main advantage AC or ACC have over the F1 series is that Kunos only released two games and can improve on those two games. They're not on a yearly release schedule so those two games they've released they can work on and improve with future patches. Same thing goes for iRacing. Games that don't have yearly successors are just better but not only in simracing. Look at games like CoD, FIFA or Madden. Every single year a new instalment of the series is released and the community hates on it every single year. On the other hand we have games like League of Legends or CS:GO or Fortnite (I guess?) where majority of the playerbase simply likes the game and keeps on playing it.
The first thing that needs to change is the release schedule for F1 games period. Like, bring out a new game every time there's new engine regulations coming out for example. Every year is just too much and doesn't leave space for game improvements.

Personally i wish codemasters asked the guys at from AC and ACC for their handling system because it’s just unmatched. In Addition we need an engine overhaul but that’s most likely coming next year as the new WRC is already on Unreal Engine 5 which is the reasoning behind the insane graphics assetto corsa can reach even while on an older version of UE. We could dive into all the gameplay features that are lacking but that’s a whole different discussion.

    Devil advocate:
No developer will ever produce or top these "onboard videos" from assetto corsa and no official game will ever look or sound this good, because all of these are mods, this is not even Kunos Assetto Corsa anymore, it's a combination mods. It will always look and sound better, because there's no time constraints involved, it's just people forever tweaking the game until they reach the point of 'perfection', that looks good enough to be mistaken by real footage, people have been doing that for years, any game can look 'R E A L ' if you tweak enough with it, but no developer in the world has enough time to do this.
I understand people want the F1 games to improve but you're guys will only set youselves to dissapointment if you're set your expectations for developers based on videos with 3 layers of reshade on top of a heavily modded game.
( reshade is a tool that adds post processing effects on top of games images, what you see in these videos is not the real assetto corsa graphics )

Agreed. Same with a lot of big ticket by games (cod, FIFA etc etc). It is easy and cost effective for big developers to just reheat last year's offing and hope the fans of the medium will just keep coming back. It is only when you try some of the frankly outstanding mod content that is out there that you realise how lacking these games are.

There are a plethora of reasons that show how little EA care for the series, but one I'd like to mention really shows their efforts, or lack there of.
2023 sprint races. As we all know, both the format and frequency of sprint weekends has changed since tve precious season. In F1 23 the correct weekend fixtures hold a sprint event, however the format for the weekend has not been updated at all to match the format foe the 2023 season!
For EA to have updated which weekends see a sprint race but to have not updated the weekends' structure... I'm not sure if it's incompetence from failing to even research that the format has changed, or just pure laziness in simply not bothering to change the format.
Regardless, it's a level of neglect that has no place in a AAA officially licenced product.
If my name were on the credits of their games, I would feel a sense of shame.

I think there is no doubt ac is better. Codies develope or sell their game for the wider audience and generally speaking i really think f1 23 is an enjoyable and decent game. But the driving experience is just far better in AC. Only disadvantage is that AC is mainly for PC players (including me thankfully). Unfortunately I dont know how I can make my AC look like that though. If you solely focuses on the driving aspects, AC is unquestionably the answer, but as a game (to have fun), AC is out of the competition because...like many hardcore sims, it's way too barebone, infinitely more like a tech-demo than a game without mods.

EA should loose the licensing deal with F1. Bugs (brake bias resetting to 50% when going on track, for one). Cheating and no official concrete response (we're working on it is not enough). "Equal" cars (oops, bug). The list goes on. I think, more than anything, it's the lack of communication; ultimately that's what hits harder to me. I'm ok with monetizing stuff (as long as it's not pay to win).

Its like compairing ms flight simulator vs DCS vs xplane they are not in the same category. One is more easier to play for anybody vs a specialized one. DCS and xplane are more complicated for the average gamer, DCS goes in detail in every function of the plane it's crazy.
F1 officials is easier to get the more player on it kind of an arcade gane(more sales too) if the games is too complicated nobody will play it... before F1 2020 I played or Rfactor with f1 mods it was pretty good for its time! I played life for speed too but the forcefeedback is garbage for my wheel

I play only racing sims like Rfactor2, Assetto Corsa, Automobilista(my favorite one) and Raceroom. Tbh Assetto Corsa has worst physics and FFB among these titles, but it's most popular.. So, even on hardcore simracing market people prefer simcade game.
I only played f1 2020 on wheel, but i must say it is a good game. It drives ok on wheel, but it also drives good on gamepad and even on keyboard. You can do good game for gamepad or good game for wheel with just gamepad support. Or you should do two separate physics with players who should play in different lobbys. But, apparently, it's not profitabe for developers.
In terms of the fact that people play with different types of controls - F1 series best racing game on PC.

I guess the difference here is that to get AC to the level you are there, you need to be prepared to wrestle with a lot of mods, shaders, and settings. F1 official is RTR from the box. You will also find that a lot of the shiny gamification is missing from AC. You won't get podium cut scenes etc etc. that said, of the two I will always pickup my well setup AC install with the RSS formula hybrid mod before picking up F1. But then again, I will pickup RF2 and a decent single seater before either of them.

Yeah, but as a thought experiment in what *could* be: the "driver experience" (podiums, my team, etc), combined with AC level physics and graphics, all out of the box, would be an incredible game. All this video shows is just how stagnant the official games have become, especially given that a lot of this stuff is created by modders, not AAA studios.

then for the 23rd except for tire wear and the curbs....for the 24th they would have to do some difficult setups on tracks with a real surface that are not flat.....eliminate the braking point introduce a dglive...but it will be the copy paste of the 23 now increasingly arcade

Started sim racing this year on an actual rig with a Fanatec setup. Played F122 with a controller all last year. Thought F123 was much better and enjoyed a couple months on it with my new rig. Played Asseto Corsa about 2 months ago. Man, what a difference. Tried to go back to F123 yesterday…yea no, I’ll stick to Asseto Corsa. The driving is simply so much better and enjoyable on Ac or ACC. F123 felt dead in comparison even after trying some adjustments.

the first 1 min and 50 seconds.. things you say.. developers coming together... My god.. YES! I agree. What a sim that could be, if they actually listen to their players anyways. Let be honest, not to take anything away from the work, dedication, and everything else that do go into the games, but it would maybe turn out to be a huge mess.

Asstto Corsa and rFactor 2 are the benchmark of all racing sims and its sad to see titles with the highest player count being some of the worst games when it comes to netcode, realism and driving characteristics. I think this stems from a large younger audience that has no real understanding of what cars drive like IRL allowing studios to pump out mediocre racing games every year and people will still play them.

This last F1 game completely turned me away. I put in so many hours on F1 22 and this one (23) I've had such a bad experience in every aspect that I'm likely not every buying another one. I need to get a PC so I can explore some of these other titles. EA & Codemasters has lost me.

All we are really seeing here is washing out of the colors, adding camera blur with less depth of field, positioning the point of view off centre all to make it look more like what you're used to seeing from real life broadcast. It looks pretty for a video but not really practical for actually racing.

Ever since 2021 codemasters went down hill for F1. 2021 was alright but they took away classic cars. Over the years codemasters driving felt the same.
I made the switch over to PC and never looked backed, because now I’m spending way more hours and having way more fun on Assetto Corsa with loads of F1 mods than on F1 23.
I feel like especially for console players being they can’t mod or anything. Bring back classic cars at least and this time make it like a classic season because the way they did it I think was a bit overdone. Classic cars were great but when you have specific variety it becomes unfair because they are certain classic cars that’ll blow the others miles away. Yeah they have equal car mode but still.
Another thing bring in classic tracks as like dlc or actually make it a part of the championship edition or something to make it where people would actually want and are willing ti spend €100.
For F1 24 they really need to step it up. Add more content to the game yeah they’re adding some liveries for F1 world but who does F1 world? They need to add more game modes maybe implement a way better story mode for career mode not necessarily talking about breaking point.
Because us on PC we have so many options with Assetto Corsa or Iracing Rfactor 2. They’re so many better racing games out there that aren’t just sim racing but for fun as well.
F1 24 needs to implement and make a lot of changes but I’m not sure. F1 23 is a way better game than F1 22 I’ll say that for sure but my Assetto Corsa and Rfactor 2 Iracing are blowing F1 23 out of the park.
They should’ve never took out classic cars replaced them with supercars. Mate if I wanna play supercars, I’d go play a racing game with supercars. It’s an F1 game people buy and play it specifically for F1.
I’m glad I’m on PC with loads of F1 mods on Assetto Corsa Rfactor 2 and Iracing soon I’ll be getting my favorite childhood game F1 challenge 99-02.
Codemasters just really needs to step up big time for F1 24. It’s what you get when Ea comes into play. F1 2020 was great and the last great F1 game. I have hopes for F1 24 but they’re not high. In the meantime I’m taking a break from F1 23 don’t know how long but seriously F1 24 needs a change and a massive step up.

Honestly, i don't like the idea of the Assetto Corsa developers making F1 games because they would make it a full simulator and only to people who have full wheel and pedals setup. Assetto Corsa isn't a game for casual players like me, that's why i dislike the idea.

I'd take Assetto Corsa and Automobilista 2 over F1 23 any day. I'd rather drive the classic F1 cars more than the modern ones. I do Custom Championships in Assetto Corsa. It's been a while since the last time I did it though.

The problem is that these companies that make Assetto Corsa, Iracing, and other simulator games, must not have the money to buy the f1 franchise. Who could buy it is Sony, but leaving it exclusive to the PS doesn't seem like a good move for them. Sony's f1 games were at least a visual spectacle back in the PS3 days. Today the Codemaster F1s are completely dated.
