It was a winter wonderland for us yesterday. Some places the snow hasnt even melted from that cute lil snow storm. But there was pink and yellow blossoms on some of the young early bloomers in town anyways.

In Tower of God, the name "Bam" means "Night" in Korean, which is why they call him "Yoru" in the anime, since it's in Japanese.
@Loli4lyf I don't have a problem with it because the subs still call them by their proper names, though I did get triggered the first time I heard it. You gotta just get over it to properly enjoy Tower of Simp.
@Loli4lyf The whole point of Tower of God's MC is that he's not edgy. Some pretty terrible shit happens to him, but he never stops being a cinnamon roll simp. He does look pretty bland, but he's sort of also unique in the sens that he's the first good-looking protagonist to actually have his good looks canonically acknowledged by other characters in the story. You know that annoying in anime where the MC would constantly be described as "bland" looking, despite having spiky green hair and being a solid 10? (Looking at you Deku) Well, this series actually acknowledges this trope and being good looking is like the MC's main ability in the beginning of the series.
So basically, his name means"Twenty-fifth night".
Guess who was born on a Twenty-fifth night of the month? Now you know how much weight the MC will have in the Tower.

"I'm-Reincarnated-As-The-Villainess-In-This-Otome Game/Light Novel/Manga" is my favorite too-specific Isekai subgenre. There's been a lot of these kinds of shoujo isekai in manga recently and we're here, we've finally made it to adaptation fhdksja

@@thisisafilleracc3140I think it's because some people have tried to take "help I'm trapped in a game" so seriously it is less fun. "Help I'm trapped in a trashy love sim" is something that I hope will always be goofy and fun.
I really like that "Just because I can use Dark Magic doesn't mean I'm evil" one. It's pretty cute, but can have some serious subtext which is nice.

From what i've seen it is a very faithful adaptation, with very little difference from the manga.
I would say just enjoy the show, it feels nicer to enjoy the anime without spoilers.
The manga is more polished than the light novel is what i would say, and the anime and manga are pretty much the same in quality.

@@9o1ybius That might be a good hypothesis. In many novels and shows the focus of ones crush and 'love interest' at first is quickly turned after unraveling certain elements of the story. Those stories can really make a big hit on the reader.
As someone who has read literally every Tower of God chapter, you are in for a deep, deep, deep abyss of lore and story. This entire season by its end will still be a mile away from the surface, much less be able to hope to scratch it.

Rachel is too nice looking in the anime. Make her the frog faced girl she is supposed to be.
I got a recommendation from a friend a way back to read the comic, before I knew there would be an anime adaptation, so I started reading it, slowly.
Now I am somewhere in the middle of season 2 and boy I just can't stop reading. It builds up to some massive payoff, and I'm sure as hell that I am still far from knowing and understanding what's going on.

Actually the “I’ve been reincarnated into my favorite otome game” is quite common in isekai manga and light novels but it’s fairly new to being adapted to anime. Though I will say, I think this specific one is actually one of the better ones.
This was one of the pioneer, though.

My Next life as a Villainess has been so good, it's a little bit of a slow burn and a little goofy for my usual taste but I'm so glad to see it on this list!
The Bam’s backstory bit gave me a good chuckle we got a good chunk of it nearly SEVEN YEARS into the comic’s run and there’s still HUGE chunks missing

I haven't watched the anime yet bc school work, but Arte is my favourite manga and I hope the adaptation is doing it justice
Tho even if the anime Is good, I recommend reading the manga anyway, the art is fantastic and from what I've seen I don't think the anime really captured it

I don't think Netflix understand anime very well. Why on earth do they think it's a good idea to withhold international releases until months after the initial release? Have they heard of simulcasting?
Is it just some strange right of passage testing their users willpower to see if they cave to the temptation of illegal downloads?
It makes even less sense now because of coronavirus. You literally have a captive audience, just release BNA already!
I just use Netflix cause. Netlfix may own the rights to the series, but it's currently not legally available. And because it's not currently available legally, I have the right to use other means to watch it until the legal option becomes available. When it does, I only watch it through that legal method. And I usually always immediately rewatch shows upon legal release (usually dubbed) to support them
Tbf they started ramping up their anime a few weeks ago. We're getting demon slayer soon

Nah, Netflix has this weird thing where they insist on only releasing things after the full season has completely aired, and sometimes even waiting months after that before putting it up. (See things like When calls the heart, miraculous ladybug, etc. ) I think it's to encourage binge watching, but when cable channels are making it "free" to watch the latest 4 episodes, and there are plenty of illegal sources to pick up the slack, Netflix is only driving people away with this strategy, because it only works with stuff they produce in house.
I came into this saying if "My Next Life as a Villainess" wasn't on here I'd riot. I'm glad it's on here, it's such a refreshing watch and a great manga read too!
That was me with Sing "Yesterday" for Me. If Geoff had somehow missed that one, I was going to write him off as a hack! Bad enough Arte got shoved into the honorable mentions pile! It's my fave anime of the season, so far.

I wish I had something like this when I first started to get into anime in 1992-1993 and have that guidance (would have been nice to steer clear from buying those $40-$45 tapes with one episode that was just shit). I was defenitely the most hyped for Fruits Basket S2. Everything we see in this season has never been animated before and since I really love the manga, I'm so happy to see it animated completely. I've been literally counting the days to its start.

I’d love it if you did a retrospective on the previous season sometimes. I totally understand why reviewing these shows at the beginning makes sense, but many shows go from good to bad or bad to good over the course of a season, and reviews of a few shows in their entirety would be super useful as well. Additionally, you would be able to cover shows you missed (Keep your hands off Eizoken) and shows released in blocks (Beastars).
Also, almost none of these appeal to me compared to last season where almost all the shows you covered were right down the alley.
He'll usually do videos for specific shows throughout the season. Bookworm wasn't on his top 10 for Fall 2019, but he's mentioned it in multiple videos since then.
He'll also usually do a best/worst of the year around December or January.
Jardex22 yes, but the number of shows he covers is very limited in number, and rarely covers shows he thinks didn’t live up to their potential. A retrospective would fill those gaps.
Darth_Darling yeah. My perfect example is Fire Force. The first couple episodes were excellent, and then it became unwatchably bad.
@Darth_Darling what do you mean crashed and burned? That show was never a serious adventure but it 100% delivered the comedy start to finish and that was its purpose.

@@hawks3109 the webtoon is the comic book that the show is based on, they just call it webtoon instead of manga. I recommend you read it, it's in color and has like 500 chapters you can read it for a long long time
@@hawks3109 like with most anime reading ahead will provide spoilers but I watch the anime to recap and also the anime is only going to be about 20 episodes so you will miss out on most of the series

Sing Yesterday for Me reminds me a lot of Welcome to the NHK. Maybe its the tone, maybe its the almost crushingly realistic way it tells its story or the mid-thousands grimy aesthetic that is starting to feel a bit nostalgic to me. I'm not really fan of Manic Pixie Dream Girl-trope, but there's something odly gripping about this show.
The mc relationship with the two girls feels a little similar as well

I came across sing yesterday very much randomly, not having heard it from anywhere just clicked on it randomly and I was instantly intrigued. So far my fav spring anime of this season along with Tower of God
