I am glad you mentioned this this fact. There is a great video (here on RUclips) about the SS90 prototype where Terry goes through some of the history and original photos, including talking about Hugh and the first Spitfire.
SS Cars Ltd announced the "Jaguar" range in late 1935 (production began in 1936), so the SS90 has the distinction of being the last model produced that's not a Jaguar.

Funny that the owner is an ex-fighter pilot as the series' prototype was owned by Hugh Kennard, a RAF Battle of Britain fighter pilot!
