1960 ….Minnesota the first state that I visited in the US and Bemidji a distinct memory because of the fact that the Mississippi river started there. At 23 and from what everybody thought of as the boondocks, Newfoundland,; I was impressed. Actually I felt like I hadn’t left home. Northern Minnesota and Newfoundland are very much alike.
Minnesota is a BEAUTIFUL state. I have lived in Mn for about 54 years. We have so many things to do. Spring, Summer, Winter and fall. Whether u like doing things outside or inside.
What an enjoyable relaxing video before going to bed. When I retired I had no problem slowing down. Raised 2 husband (both) passed at young age 33, 49. Raised 3 children. A have been (more so) thrilled with your visit to MN. I’ve lived in MN all 57 yrs of my life. The four seasons are so enjoyable & Minnesotans go all out to enjoy each one. There is so much beauty, so many friendly folks & so much to take in at every city. Yes winter ❄️ can (and) is miserable, long & freezing temps. Yet it can be so beautiful in all its glory. I enjoy watching you and Sadie on your travels. You make Minnesota look fun and I want to visit there when I start traveling more. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us!
Minnesota and Wisconsin are both known for what we call, 'Minnesota nice' and we love them both. Also, on the topic of 'natural' solutions for insect control, we use two products, one for gnats and one for mosuqitos and ticks, made from essential oils, and made by a Minnesota company "Buggs Products, in Long Lake, MN. You'll have to check them out- (not for use directly on your animals) but safer to use and effective.
finding property in Minnesota can be easy once you narrow down to the county or counties you are looking at. Usually 1-2 times per year, counties in rural Minnesota will have their land auctions. It's not unheard of to only put down $1-2k as a deposit on forfeited county property.
Nice to see you again. Minnesota is where my grandparents met and moved north to Canada. I think I've never been there but my mom has. Nice to see some scenery there. It's more green than the Westcoast for a change. Have a great day!!!!

I live just outside of Bemidji. It’s so fun to see others perspective. The place you stopped is pronounced Grig la. Thank you for visiting! Come back before the winter tundra moves in 😁
Love your videos - adventure realness learning from you. I’m in Indian River County Florida, lived in campers a couple times while building but have not lived full time, interesting. Oh awesome 🐕. The building with no windows creeps me out.
Maybe the building was a church, school, or home, windows and everything, but later was turned into storage for the park, and the former windows were covered with new clapboards for security, and paint over all. Later, the clapboards looked the same age, as if it was purpose-built with no windows. It really looks like a house, church or school, except for the windows. I am hoping to get a place in IRC, around (beloved) Wabasso, or (beloved) Sebastian, or north of Sebastian, in the (beloved) Grant area.
I lived in Winona Minnesota the first 3 years of my life . 2019 I drove from western NY back to the neighborhood I was born in . The people that bought my parents house in the middle 1960 s still lived there . I would move back their in a second . Glad you had fun in Minnesota!
One thing I do for mosquitoes after I close the doors and move inside for the night; I turn off all the lights for a few minutes then turn them back on. They immediately attract the bugs and I kill them all real quick. I may do that one or two more times if needed when they come back in.
The state bird is the mosquito ya know 🤷♀️ lol my mom and I would visit my family in Minnesota in the summers when I was growing up. I was always the one that the bugs would bite. There could be one bug in a room and a hundred people and I would be the one the bug would bite. But I still love going to Minnesota. My favorite time of the year to go is in autumn the trees are amazing! absolutely stunning. Maybe you could just stay until then it’s not far off. I also think Minnesota grows the best corn. I could make an entire meal of just Minnesota corn. There is a small town called Ogilvie and there is a small festival every year. It’s called Ogilvie’s annual Corn on the Curb. It’s on August 13th. My cousin used to grow all the corn for this festival but he has passed away. I’m not sure Who grows the corn now but im sure it’s still awesome. It’s just a fun small town thing and the food is so good. But we would mainly just go for the corn. I’m glad to hear you love Minnesota!
For mosquitoes we dip a piece ribbon or cloth into peppermint oil and tie it to a spinning fan. Actually we use a type of medicated oil for bites, headaches... basically with mint oil. You can also use lemon grass oil.
Welcome to brrr.midji. Toured the state university there some years ago. They expand the student parking lot in the winter to include the lake and have a special area for students to clean any game they may hunt.

Love it! Been wanting to visit Minnesota and even more so now - great vibes. And YES, way to rock the shirt for fans who don't want to believe it's true!
It's amazing how much my dog looks like yours. I found my dog tied to a tree, left to die in the woods in Mississippi 8 years ago in really bad shape and now she is the sweetest most loving dog. Exact same coloring, size etc. as yours. So cute!

I enjoy your videos so much!! Minnesota is so beautiful. My Grandparents used to take me fishing there back in the 50’s. Thanks for sharing the beauty of the outdoors with us!
As a resident of Bemidji, it’s a really great city, glad you like it here. But it will absolutely reach -40 to -50 degrees in the winter. Those averages are a bit misleading to how cold it actually gets here.
I was born and raised in bemidj. I moved to Minneapolis when i turned 18 but moved right back to Minnesota when i started my little family. I'll probably never leave. The summers are too amazing.
My dad lived in Bemidji for 40 years, he had 160 acre farm with a 125 year old farmhouse. It was the most amazing, magical place. He passed away in 2017 and we had to clear everything out of the house and the out buildings, then had a farm sale. My husband and I drove up there in our 24ft RV with our two dogs from San Diego, the dogs LOVED running around the property chasing squirrels! Every night we did a through tick check on all of us! It was a lot of work and so sad to have to sell the farm. None of us kids (5 of us) wanted to live there because of the winters. Thanks for passing thru and sharing a video, made me think of my dad as I watched it. Safe travels to you and Sadie!
Really liked this video, my husband and I are full timers too, we have a 2003 Winnebago, right now he's in the shop getting the slides worked on but we are planning to visit Minnesota so Bemidji State Park is somewhere we would love to visit. Hello canadian in the philippines i can't count how many times i went through Bemidji on #2 Stude beneath that blue ox It's so beautiful there at the lake
Hi Carolyn! I've been watching your videos since you first started. I can't believe you stopped here in Bemidji where I live on the Mississippi River. Would have been great to see you while you were here. Several other RUclipsrs have come here to Bemidji (Wranglestar, Nomadic Fanatic, Sergei Dratchev, and others) and of course we miss them all because we don't know they are coming until they already have been here and gone like you. I understand the need for secrecy due to the many trolls, etc out there in RUclips land. I think it's fantastic that you're still traveling around the country and enjoying your self despite all the break downs along the way, transmission, generators, brakes, etc. Stay safe!
Love the North Country. I visited there in 2019. went across from ND, visited Ely and the Boundary waters and then hit the North Shore and went up to Grand Potage and then all the way down through Duluth and over to the U.P., kinda like your route. I hope you stopped in Grand Marais, one of the nicest port towns I've been to. Can't wait to see the rest of these. I'm from Michigan and need a home fix. Glad to see the boondocking ops, I stayed in a lot of those waysides last trip, Michigan's are so cool.
I used to tent-camp ‘back in the day.’ 15 states and the Cherokee Nation one summer. Camped all 4 seasons with my kids. Earlier than that, my teen years, hiked portions of the Appalachian Trail and slept on the ground most nights. Appreciation of the land that sustains us.
Minnesota is sweeeet!! Beautiful scenery!! And I just love Sadie, such a happy baby!!! Thx for taking us all on another fabulous tour.... stay safe 🙏❤ 🐾
I love the adorable ways Sadie rides and sleeps! Some interesting contortions sometimes!🐾❤🐾 I'm so happy for you learning to slow down is hard for a lot of people.
Love your videos keep doing what you're doing. I've seen one of your trolls here on RUclips not sure what his problem is with you at all. You're enjoying your life nothing wrong with that.
During the winter, once the lake froze, it tuned into an overflow parking lot for college students. And the “eel pout festival,” what a hoot. Lots of ice houses on the lake. You should check out the boundary waters, nothing like it.
Thank you for showing me a few minutes of Bemidji, a place my Mother used to talk about a lot. Come a little farther east to Michigan, you'll have as nice a time on lake Superior as you did in Minnesota 👍
Thanks Carolyn for a video with lots of good info. Pleasure watching you and Sadie enjoying the water. My God she was having a ball,or should I say stick? lol She also liked it when you were running in the water😊See you again soon✌️❤️
I love MN too. The beauty, the people, the fun outdoor activities, the love of the outdoors. We skied, sledded, skayed & snowmobiled. In summer we camped & hiked, biked, played tennis & gardened. All around it was good. Oh! I volunteered for the Mondale/Ferraro campaign too. You might like it up there. Stay close to a Uni to be around progressive people & be represented. You vote counts but out invthe country its pretty conservative. Shortly north of Bemidji is Itasca State Park where you can actually walk across the Mississippi!
I really enjoyed this video & love all the parks. I sense a calmness about you. I haven’t been able to watch all my friendly travelers lately due to the storm and I needed this! Thank you 😊
It was fun to see Sadie in the water, and thanks for your ponderings and your commentary on where you are, and the history, etc. I enjoyed visiting Bemidji and environs through your visit. I have also been exploring other areas (online) because of climate change, and Minnesota is on my list to check out.
This is the first time in a long time, you sound like you feel better. Congratulations. That was a lot of health challenges to over come. Lol now I hope no tick bites.
I really enjoyed this video, it's interesting, beautiful, entertaining, and so different that I'm thinking maybe next year I'll travel up to Minnesota. I have been a subscriber of yours now for over 2 yrs and used to contribute. Finance's changed a lot since my renter stopped paying rent but I'm going to join again. I just enjoy you and Sadie so much and relate to your life. I know to bring these videos to your viewers is not cheap, with gas prices so much now I'm not traveling very much these days. Thankyou for your honesty and the special little girl you have with you, Miss Sadie. Take care and stay safe.
Hope you can hit Ely! See the North American Bear Center and the International Wolf Center. It is also an entry point for the Boundry Waters Canoe Area.

Minnesota is sweeeet!! Beautiful scenery!! And I just love Sadie, such a happy baby!!! Thx for taking us all on another fabulous tour.... stay safe 🙏❤ 🐾
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it Evelyn!
You'll love the 40 below winters.
Thank you. I spent the first 22 years of my life in Bemidji. Working on moving back. The awesome building for sale is the old train depot.
Thanks for watching Joani! Good luck to you.
I love bemidji i grew up thare went jw Smith elementary went to the brand new middle school when they built it..few years at alc...great city
Looks like a nice area. What I'm really getting a kick out of, though, is Sadie and her joy in retrieving the stick from the water. Love it!
I love the adorable ways Sadie rides and sleeps! Some interesting contortions sometimes!🐾❤🐾
I'm so happy for you learning to slow down is hard for a lot of people.
Love your videos keep doing what you're doing. I've seen one of your trolls here on RUclips not sure what his problem is with you at all. You're enjoying your life nothing wrong with that.
Thank you Margaret, I appreciate that!
During the winter, once the lake froze, it tuned into an overflow parking lot for college students. And the “eel pout festival,” what a hoot. Lots of ice houses on the lake. You should check out the boundary waters, nothing like it.
Thanks for sharing this with us loved Bemidji
Carolyn Saddie is such good fur baby an listens really good 👍❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you for showing me a few minutes of Bemidji, a place my Mother used to talk about a lot. Come a little farther east to Michigan, you'll have as nice a time on lake Superior as you did in Minnesota 👍
I'm living in Int'l Falls MN and am from across the river,Canada....I love the doggy ♥️
Thanks Carolyn for a video with lots of good info. Pleasure watching you and Sadie enjoying the water. My God she was having a ball,or should I say stick? lol She also liked it when you were running in the water😊See you again soon✌️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it Linda! Thanks for watching!
Your theme song …Traveler by Chris Stapleton. Your mood will be happy as your feet will be taping. ❤️💃
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed this video & love all the parks. I sense a calmness about you. I haven’t been able to watch all my friendly travelers lately due to the storm and I needed this! Thank you 😊
You're welcome Mary! Take care and stay safe.
It was fun to see Sadie in the water, and thanks for your ponderings and your commentary on where you are, and the history, etc. I enjoyed visiting Bemidji and environs through your visit. I have also been exploring other areas (online) because of climate change, and Minnesota is on my list to check out.
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Minnesota looks awesome... I just love all the wide open space! Fun!
Thanks for the video. It’s so nice to see those spots you never get to when you are on time constraints.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Love the slowmo of Sadie in the lake.

Love the old towns. It’s like stepping back in time. It’s fun to see Sadie too- she is
a very happy dog!
Funny, your RV is an Itasca and you were so close to Itasca State Park and the headwaters of the Mississippi.
I love watching your videos of your summer travels. I’m really happy that you found a place that brings you joy!
Carolyn, you have the best RV travel videos. The good, the bad and sometimes the ugly. You make it real! Hi Sadie!
Aw, thanks Carolyn. I appreciate that!
This is the first time in a long time, you sound like you feel better. Congratulations. That was a lot of health challenges to over come. Lol now I hope no tick bites.
I remember when Sadie got car sick. Looks like she likes to sit up and watch the road now.

You're welcome Sue! Thanks for stopping by.😀
I really enjoyed this video, it's interesting, beautiful, entertaining, and so different that I'm thinking maybe next year I'll travel up to Minnesota.
Thanks Denise and thanks for being a faithful viewer! I really appreciate that. We all do what we can, when we are able. Take care!
BSU has underground tunnels for students to avoid the harsh lake effect & elements in the winter !! It’s a very cool town
Hope you can hit Ely! See the North American Bear Center and the International Wolf Center. It is also an entry point for the Boundry Waters Canoe Area.
Twelve dislikes? Who are these damn haters? People are so jealous of Carolyn who lives her best life. I wish I had this life. God bless you Carolyn. I’ve been following over a year now.
@@EfficientRVer damn excuse the fuck out of me. Shit.
My sis in law now lives in MN. She loves it. All her daughters live there also. I'm a born Okie and still here but planning on hitting the road full time soon as possible. I'm a young 78 😊
