Thanks for not adding music. I much prefer the sound of the projector or complete silence on these vids which is why I usually turn the volume down before they even start. Without sound the footage is more intense, like peering into the past through a keyhole in cyberspace. But with a song playing the illusion is shattered and it’s just another video on RUclips with background music for no apparent reason other than viewers have been conditioned to expect it.
Sadly I had to put music on many of teh newer videos. People somehow expected music, some were annoyed by the shutter sound. Personally I see it just like you because it‘s the closest to watching actual film via projector without knowing what images to expect. So before exploring the whole channels footage, open a second browser tab with this video in the background and mute the other one! Thanks for the feedback, it‘s much appreciated!
Unfortunately all the magic has long gone. Now just a bland pale shadow of its former self, overwhelmed by on the cheap tourists and all the tack that goes with them.
I was 13 years old, back then no one had video, only news channels, if you filmed someone it was kinda awkward, we didn't film ourselves because you'd have to buy a movie type camera, plus people were more humble, shy. Now everyone thinks their a movie star, all got their own shows, the John doe show.
Yep. I was a kid in the 1980's and I remember my mom telling us that taking photos and videos are only for special moments like weddings. According to her, cameras are not toys and shouldn't be used anywhere, anytime. Well, I'm glad others didn't think that!

The best years in the 1960s were 1964, 1965, 1969 when the NY Mets won the World Series. I was there.
The year I was born as well 1973
The year I got my first job there in Rockefeller Center!

On the other hand, that‘s why there‘s so few footage from back then.

1973 I was getting out of HM borstal for the second time, and what lay ahead? jail! that's what.
I would have loved to live there at that time. 🥲
Yup, NYC Cabbies still do that to this day! 02:25
Still lot's of 60s influence on the people's style
The overestimation of corporate design mimicking the style of a specific decade, such as the 60s, is apparent.

Look kiddies! You could drive/park and actually get somewhere. Where are the goddam bicycles?
Hi there! I would love to get permission to use some of this footage for my music video! Is there an email address I can reach you through? :)
