There is an important lesson opportunity for Story here. You need to stay strong and demonstrate to her that no matter how bad things get in life, there is always hope for the future. I was in Kruger National Park many years ago. A Ranger told me that yes Elephants can be destructive. But often that destruction creates circumstances for new growth. For example tearing a bow off a tree allows plants to germinate and grow in the shelter of that discarded dead branch. Your priorities are right. Get the house weatherproof. Then I'd clear up the broken glass so that in particular Poppy does not injure herself and can run free. I think the purchase of a chainsaw might be a useful tool to turn those trees into manageable logs. The place will look a whole lot better once those trees are removed.
To Jay and family: We're deeply honoured and thankful that you chose and decided to stay and live in our country. We're deeply saddened though with the devastation that you also experienced there in Siargao with the onslaught of the typhoon Odette. But don't despair, God is good, and He shall provide the help that all of you there direly need. Just keep faith and Please take care still. Looking on how story do the vlog, i kinda think she adjusted to the Filipino resiliency. No matter how bad it is, there still a smile on her face like what most Filipinos do.
Jay, you will soon find out how resilient Filipinos are, look around you, everything will back to normal within a year. As for the coconut trees, they will replenish themselves. Humans did not put them there, it was mother nature itself and mother nature will heal itself.
@@rodbayan9974 He didn't mean only filipino's, but he meant "how" resilient filipino's are when catastrophe happens to our country. After something bad happens, we come together to help eachother with rebuilding our communities and etc.

Odette was devastating but J, Sacha and Story you all weathered the storm. What's important is you're alive and unharmed. Your past experiences molded you to become strong physically and mentally. Sending hugs!
I'm Filipino and I cried because you cried but when I saw the trees on the ground - I saw brand new houses being built with them, and food for weeks... Don't worry too much, the only big step that you must do is the first step to clean and fix your house :) as long as you're alive and healthy - then all is good. Broken cars can be fixed for cheap in the Philippines - money is not even a problem as long as you know how to use your elbow grease. Smile, tomorrow is a new day. A new beginning awaits. Bless you 🙏🏽
What's important is that you and your family are safe, this is where your Faith is gonna be tested, but you can also learn from the resiliency of the Filipinos, they will rebuild Siargao!, their Spirit will never falter whatever disaster may come. Siargao will recover!

It also happened here in Western Visayas when part of our province was severely hit by Yolanda, first sight was terrifying and heartbreaking you wouldnt know how people could recover but after a year I visited the place, everything is back to normal as if nothing happened at all. I'm sure Siargao wil rise again.
I am in awe that Jmayel's reaction is to immediately do something to give back to the Filipino people of Siargao.... to help out. Instead of a flight reaction, he chooses to fight this out. Such a good soul! Though, somehow I would feel more comfortable that they prioritize their family first because there is only so much they can do. The help the island is getting is for immediate needs but to fully commit their entire aspirations and hopes to the island would be a long haul that will test and break them. Part of me wants to see them succeeding to reclaim their investments in Siargao but I also want them to recuperate and find their bearings first again outside the island. Recovery of Siargao will take many months of hard work. Bless the 8MFH family and Papang's family too.
Not to worry you are still young and strong. Be thankful you are alive and you have the dog to help you overcome the current situation. Help all the people around you and they will help you back. God bless you and the people of your community.
Be strong 8milers...we can never win against nature when it is there time to come but in return it makes us realize how blessed we are making it through. Scars will remain, trauma will be skitched in our lives but there is always a promise of a ray of hope after a storm..... I feel you and all of those affected, God bless!!!!

I think people are resilient in general regardless of nationality
@@rodbayan9974 He didn't mean only filipino's, but he meant "how" resilient filipino's are when catastrophe happens to our country. After something bad happens, we come together to help eachother with rebuilding our communities and etc.
Please stay strong, Jay, Sasha and Story. Hope that the Good Lord will help you and our kababayans will be resilient and have that 'hope' and spirit of goodness in your heart remain to overcome this big challenge ahead.🙏
@@michelleg.4587 ... well, what choice do you have when a lot of politicians in the philippines are corrupt .... you gotta be mentally tough & be a positive ..... I heard duterte allocated billions of pesos for the rehab of this island ...... hopefully, every single peso will go to the rehab projects & not a lot will go to corrupt politicians' bank accounts (with different names ... (😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂) ..... & lastly,I pray that the corned beef will not turn into sardines too ...... you know what I'm saying .......

@@johnnier.o.d4746 I was saying something positive about my culture. The politic statement is whole different story, but I understand though.
It was a pretty traumatic experience. My family and I are just glad our house actually held up. The moment I woke up, it was unbelievable. I can totally relate to what you guys felt. We were completely cut off. It was the most devastating thing to have happened in my life so far.
I hope things will get better soon.
Crying again seeing Jay in bits the poor love. Then seeing Sash in the same way. Story your a trooper it’s lovely to see you smile with all that’s going on at the moment in your head & world. Let’s help these guys out. Much love guys xxx
Story has become a very resilient kid she’s definitely an eastern girl 🥰
Thinking of you and the the Filipino people affected by this horrendous disaster! ♥️♥️
I cried as u cry....keep ur faith to God...I know u will recover.God bless you and ur family
Praying for your family and the rest of people affected by the typhoon. Stay strong, you’ll get through this. God bless!
Bless you 🙏🏽
Story's smile is like symbol of hope for siargao. God bless siargao 🙏❤🇵🇭
What's important is that you and your family are safe, this is where your Faith is gonna be tested, but you can also learn from the resiliency of the Filipinos, they will rebuild Siargao!, their Spirit will never falter whatever disaster may come. Siargao will recover!
True, as our country men on that side of the country where yearly visited with devastating typhoons like ODETTE comes out resilient with smile by helping each other during crisis.
Our prayers to all affected and victims of ODETTE.
Keep safe and stay strong …
Absolutely true....filipinos are strong willed people ,even in this trying stil we can stil see thier smiling faces....importante buhi!! and step by step they wil rebuild the damages brought about by typhoons nor earthquake....bangon lang siargao and its inhabitants, kayang kaya nyo yan ...i have high hopes that siargao wil be great again!
Thank God you guys are safe! Praise the Lord. Story is still full of life and keep safe.
Filipino will recover, we are used to disaster and we always bounce back. One step at a time before you know it everything will be back to normal. I am glad you guys are ok, you can always replace material things but not a life. Still count your blessings even in a disaster.
6:00 I agree Filipinos will recover as they always do, but J doesn't know that...yet.
I was crying along with you while you’re showing the whole place, until your sweet little girl started talking with a very positive attitude, a beautiful smile and she’s just so adorable.❤️😍She’s a sunshine to you guys. Sending hugs and prayers to you all. Stay safe. Gods Blessings.
My heart is breaking from what you are and will be going through. Keep strong dear hearts. I’m so sorry, sooo sorry. Prayers are going up for you. God bless.
The pros and cons of living in the Philippines an island,! I was born in Manila now living in dallas Texas I have experienced typhoons, earthquakes, cyclones, floods, disasters, coups, etc yet FILIPINOS are resilient and will rise up again 🇺🇲❤️🇸🇽 God bless the Philippines

and this makes you more stronger than ever.....after alot tragedy you faced off..dont lose hope.. this is normal in philippines.. GodBlessYou
The heart of the Filipino people is made of stone when it comes to calamity like that. We are used to being resilient because in the end of the day we know that even thou we lost valuable property, as long as we don't lose any loveones we know that we can still smile.
Take care.
Thats what you see that they are smiling in camera but behind the scene
They r devastated too . Imagine you need money to build their house again
@@noexcuses5524 I'm a Filipino and I know what I'm talking about...
@@johnreyleosala2935 you are filipino. But have experienced your house collapsed due to the typhoon or earthquake? Did you still smile after the incident and pretend like nothing happen.
Your stereotyping filipinos. I am also filipino and believe me . If you nvr experience this kind of incident then you have no idea what ur talking about. Our house in cebu was affected by odette. My parents were worried sick. I seen it and ive been there. They were not smiling and laughing bcus the house was destroyed.
@@noexcuses5524 yes I did... And I why I smiled? Because ni one in my family died.
What you've gone through made me realized I dont need gifts just being alive right now is already a gift
DON’T skip the ads guys, atleast we can help them in Siargao, sending hugs, love from UK.

Been crying watching your two last vlogs. My heart aches seeing all the destruction and suffering this typhoon has left. I am glad your family is safe. It will take time, but I am sure things will slowly somewhat improve again for all those affected. Just don’t loose hope.
Glad you all survived ... Bless you all and hang in there....
I'm glad everyone is safe especially that adorable little girl. You will rebuild and this will make your family stronger.
Don't give up guys. Can't imagine how you guys are feeling. I can just imagine how the locals live there and in typhoon prone areas, where they suffer from these disasters but still stand back up and continue on with their lives. I'm sure the good people of the world will help out.
Good luck and God bless!
My heart cries when you cried..Very sad! So devastating! Bangon Siargao! GOD bless you all! Praise GOD that your dog is safe too!
Sending prayers and healing to your family… We’re relieved that you’re all doing fine. We’re also affected by the typhoon in Cebu. May God guide us all and give us strength to carry on.
My prayers for your family to recover from this traumatic experience and with lord's help build a safer and stronger home so that once you will enjoy the beauty and serenity of Siargao! Praise the lord everybody is safe from harm and that is the thing that matters!
That Sunrise in the intro just reminds us that there is always another day, another beginning.Keep strong my friends, not easy to recover from this horrific tragedy but i know you guys and all filipinos will.
God bless always🙏🙏
Glad you guys are safe! God has plans for you guys! We can rise again after that disastrous storm. GIving so much love! Story is such a cutie 🥰
It is blessing that J is a handyman and he's able to fix things around the house. And Story is showing some talent in front of the camera. She may like to be a TV reporter when she grow up🤩
Thinking of you guys, so glad you are all safe.
My heart breaks for you, but I’m also greatful that you all survived! We will be sending help as soon as we can. 💕
Story will grow a very strong, brave, smart, talented and honest woman someday.
She will never forget philippines...
Love! Love! Love! And lots of love!
I feel so bad to see the result of typhoon but so happy to see you’re all safe.
Take care!
This too shall pass. You're in the Philippines, people are going to recover from this with smile on their faces. Be strong!
Actually already did pass
@@brucemunro7499 the storm, yes. I meant whatever else they will have to go through after Odette. 🙂 rebuilding their home, starting over again..
No skipping ads in this channel I'll pray for you guys and will keep on supporting you and this channel stay strong.
When news first came out saying that Siargao would be directly hit, your family immediately came to my mind. I prayed "oh God please keep them safe". I only got a sigh of relief when your friend (Sanny?) featured you in her video. Knowing the resiliency of Filipinos, they are together with you in bringing everyone's life back to normal. EIGHT MILES FROM HOME will come back STRONGER, and SIARGAO will RISE UP AGAIN.
The Filipino people are one of the most resilient in the entire world. We bounce back from the worst disasters with even more strength. You will ALL rebuild! Keep strong!!
i love the energy of your baby.,... Pinoy are same like her....Still smiling after alot of pain in life.
God Bless You Bro..
My heart breaks for everyone affected by the typhoon. Grateful you are alive and now for that pioneer mindset will help you take the next steps to recovery of body and soul. Much love and prayers coming your way.
Stay strong Jay, Sacha, Story and poppy ... We're here for your family.. If there's any way we can help even in a simple way 🥺 praying that God will give you strength to overcome this.. We're all in this together.. We love you! Stay strong 🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
The most important of all is that you are all alive.... Material is replaceable, life goes on!!!.. Goodluck and Godspeed..
It was really great to see your daughter still chatty and cheerful. I was really aftaid she might have been traumatized with the incident.. Thank God you guys are alright. material things can be replaced, be strong!
It's heartbreaking when Jay started talking about how he survived an earthquake in Thailand, forest fire in Portugal, and now this typhoon in the Philippines.
You are a blessed man to have your wife and child with you still. And your sweet dog...don't fret about your home and cars. Those things can be replaced. God will take care of you and your family and the phillipino people. I ran across your video and I had absolutely no idea this happened! I heard nothing about it on the news. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I'm a new subscriber and I will keep your family in my prayers. God bless. With love from Houston Texas ❤
I cry when Jay cried. I can feel the pain of the devastation caused by typhoon. So sad but Thank god you all guys are alive. Its gonna be a long process of cleaning up the island . I felt better seeing story vlogging. Story you are a strong smart young lady.
On a positive note, you'll get to experience Pilipino resiliency firsthand. This will make you stronger in times of calamities like this. Everything in life is temporary we'll never know what will happen the next day just live our life one day at a time and let's cherish every moment that we have, life goes on we can all recover from this, slowly but we will.
Story you are so sweet little girl and smart. I love this family for their wonderful hearts. GOD bless you more and praying for your safety whole working with your house.
Hugs to you J, Sacha, Story & Poppy. I just couldn’t fathom the depth of your devastation of what had happened... I myself is so utterly sad & overwhelmed with emotions especially when I saw your vlog yesterday seeing the actual footage of your experience at home, 😢 I am however, So glad & relieved that you are safe. Please know that you, your fam & the people of Siargao & other areas deeply affected are in our prayers everyday. Stay safe & strong 8MFH!
It also happened here in Western Visayas when part of our province was severely hit by Yolanda, first sight was terrifying and heartbreaking you wouldnt know how people could recover but after a year I visited the place, everything is back to normal as if nothing happened at all. I'm sure Siargao wil rise again.
Be strong you are so blessed that despite of the strong wind that hits all over town and other nearby cities you still alive! God loves you still!
After the typhoon, hearing the rooster early in the morning is a blessing.
One tough rooster ,want to breed that bugger
You will grieve and come back stronger. Praying for you.
im glad you and your family is SAFE
