Sharing to you how I've been able to maintain a clean fish tank especially the bottom part. Making a DIY solids collector that collects fish poop from the tank bottom aids in the cleanliness and debris free of your system. I'm demonstrating how i've been able to come up with the tool using indigenous materials like the available plastic bottle that i have.
The solids collector served as a trap for most solids and is very convenient in terms when cleaning the tank from fish waste. In some cases, most set-up, doesn't have this tool because i just made this up accidentally to fill-in the gap of the pipe to the bottom of the tank. For me it works and i hope it will do to yours also. If it doesn't work to your fish tank set-up I'm not recommending it. Do as what you please in making the most effective tools for your system.
