    About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. We dream that someday we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

    As a Canadian we’d love to have you, but you’ve stated excellent points to stay. You’ve invested yourselves in a farm you’d most likely not see here. You and Allison love your animals (my favourite “release the Quackens!”) and to have to start over would be overwhelming. Yes our healthcare system is by far better but your reasons to stay outweigh even that. Anyway you still need to solve the Sir Porkington mystery. Love watching your videos.

    I have a small farm in Maine and have been asked (and encouraged by a few) if I would move to Canada. I love the Canadians that visit and like the country. But, this is my land that I have worked hard for. i feel our government messes with us too much (taxes, restrictions, wacky laws...etc) and I am not gonna get let them win by running away. I will fight for my land and have fought for my country and my beliefs. I'm here to stay. My neighbors are my neighbors and we are here for each other. Well, literally every democracy in the world is becoming more conservative/right-wing. As a German, I can't think of a single country I'd like to move to, even if the parties in this country go nuts over refugees and migrants. The far-right controls the discussions and pushes everything in their direction. It's unbelievable, but either every country has this problem or the far-right has already won.
      I can only inform myself about topics that are important to me. Debunk myths and prejudices in discussions. Engage in discussions with people and try to set the record straight. Fight against misinformation and conspiracies.
      Note: I am younger (32yrs). I only have friends and family (parents & my brother) here. I am no farmer. There is nothing else like the animals or the long term projects that would keep me here like Morgan has within his life. It is absolute bonkers to believe someone like him would leave everything behind because of an election went not the way he would have liked it. In this end it still is a democracy.

    Although we did have a great health care system, we don't anymore. Our doctors are leaving or have retired. I've been waiting 4 years for a family physician. Waiting lists for specialists are in years and it's far too commonly recommended that if you have expensive or life threatening disease, you should take advantage of maid, medical assistance in dying. The government saves money by pushing veterans and seniors into maid rather than helping them.

    As a Canadian, I can say that many are wanting to move down south. It's nearly impossible to afford to live and save for a future if you aren't making at least 200k a year. I will say though that I think we haven't been hit as hard by Covid era inflation as America has BUT that is a small issue when you consider the fact that rent and home ownership is ridiculously expensive.

    • @bkm2797
      @bkm2797 5 часов назад +7

      What needs to stop here in the states are corporations that are buying up all the properties, which gives them power to inflate the prices into the stratosphere, especially when you are building enough to begin with. Is it like that in Canada too!

    • @theurzamachine
      @theurzamachine 5 часов назад

      @@bkm2797 I don't think corporations are buying up property here. Rather, our government allows foreigners who don't even live here to invest in real estate and they inflate the prices. Then, our government brings in millions of immigrants (who are not even qualified for the most basic jobs) and that puts even more stress on the housing situation and employment situation. Young Canadians will never be able to afford a home nor even get a job that pays well since most companies are outsourcing jobs to third world countries or simply bringing them into this country and hiring them here. Ever heard of Tim Horton's? Ever been to one that isn't staffed by Indians?
      Trump's 1st administration had the right idea. Shut down immigration, bring jobs back. Buy American, hire American. His upcoming administration is a failure by the rhetoric of his own 1st admin. I like Trump as a figure and he voiced the right nationalist/protectionist ideas but he was a failure in bringing them to fruition. I actually wanted Harris to win, not because she's better but because her admin would be such a failure that the American Empire would crumble fast and the parasitic tribe that actually runs America would either be destroyed by revolt or they would flee and let true Americans rebuild their home.
      As for Morgan's comment about health care, I used to think that privatized health care is fair but if you actually look at why health care is necessary, it's a no brainer that the rich ought to pay for it. After all, the rich are the ones pushing poisons on us. It's the rich who are bringing in immigrants who compete for medical resources. Even though it is effectively free, you do have to wait a long time to get anything done. For some things such as a broken bone or a general exam, it's fine. If you need immediate treatment, either go naturopathic or go elsewhere in the world.

If there was affordable homestead land anywhere in Canada I would be living there already. Not to mention, I find it odd that Americans have this idea they can just move to Canada, like it's not a whole other country with immigration rules. I'm not happy about the election but then again I was a Bernie Sanders supporter and think that had he won things could be better in this country and lot of people might have been happier. I'm also extremely disappointed in the Democratic party for not being open to change I'm disgusted with a Democratic party for something that Biden. He proved he's like trump.
    I really enjoy watching the videos and I do live across the street from farmland. There's a farmer's field across from me even though I'm in a housing development. I got to watch the farmer coming with his poop truck and spray poop down then I got to watch him roll it over until it up then I got watch and put the corn down and then the corn grew so fast and then suddenly got these yellow feathery tops. Then it came to be fallen everything died and they cut it down. Then they came back and laid poop down twice. Yes it does smell but it's not as bad as a lot of perfumes, colognes and fabric softeners people over use.

    A few facts about Canada:
    We're deporting 5 millions migrant students, workers, and visitors in the next 12 months. That's 1 in 8 people currently in Canada!
    We pay insane taxes, over 40%.
    Our health care is terrible, it can take 6-12 months to get an appointment even if you have cancer.
    Price of housing has more than doubled in the past 8 years. Rental prices are even more insane, small house is about $4-5k a month just in rent...

    • @theurzamachine
      @theurzamachine 5 часов назад +2

      Everyone is getting sick of these migrant students who think they can come in, pretend to study something and end up taking jobs from teenage Canadians. Taxes, poor health care, price of housing will all settle down once we get rid of unnecessary stress on the system.

      1. Your numbers are suspect. Average wait times for cancer treatments in canada are measured in days, breast, bladder, colorectal, and lung cancer surgery wait times are around 18 days. Average wait time for a consult for hip surgery is 40 days, and then another 40 days for the surgery itself. It took my 20 days to get my shoulder surgery. I had a spot on an x-ray that looked like lung cancer due to operator error and I got in for an MRI in 72 hours.
      2. TFW's cause problems not because they are 'stealing jobs'. A job isn't a pack of gum. The TFW program allows the ability to stay in country to be linked to their place of employment, meaning the employer can keep wages low and the workers can't leave without losing their ability to stay in the country. The TFW program establishes immigrants as a permanent serf class.
      3. Our post secondary schools only operate because of foreign students. They pay much higher tuition. Without them either the taxpayer will have to fund the system more or Canadian students will be paying more.

      @@claytonberg721 Well these are all complicated issues, I'm not arguing one way or another, just want to make the point that Canada is not perfect, and neither is our health care.
      Our health care is also different in each province, I have a family member that had to wait over 6 months in Quebec to get his cancer diagnosed, which turned out to be stage 4... And that was like 5 years ago

    • @claytonberg721
      @claytonberg721 4 часа назад +1

      @@Gabriel.-_-. Everyone's experience is valid but what's most important is the overall averages. There are underserved regions where health care waits are longer. This is not to say there is not room for improvement. ER wait times in places like Calgary and Red Deer are horrible.
      Some of the deportation numbers are questionable and politicized by politicians. Alot of the visas are two year student commonwealth visas. Commonwealth countries allow people under 30 to work in other commonwealth countries for 2 years. When the two years are up they no longer grant extensions, which accounts for a lot of the 'deportations'. Same with the TFW program (which is so broken they need to scrap it and start again). Some are on 2 year visas, some can stay providing their employer keeps offering new contracts.
