- Kayak trailer maintenance is important especially when you're putting a lot of miles on the road heading for fishing tournaments. Here is a short How To video on how to maintain your EZ Lube Hub and grease fittings, this process works for all of our trailers. We hope this helps make the process a little smoother.

Dexter has specific temp requirements for the lithium grease used. I found auto parts stores often carry varieties that don't meet minimum specs. Also, Dexter states never pump grease without hub spinning.

Might want to use wheel blocks (chocks) on the other tire to prevent trailer moving around. I would also loosen the lug nuts before jacking it up. Same with lowering it. Tighten a bit when jacked, then tighten lug nuts to proper torque when all the weight is supported by the wheel/tire, i.e., when jack removed. I have become pretty committed to proper torque on truck/vehicle and trailer lug nuts. Especially on my boat trailer which have their own brakes. Always check proper inflation as well. I see so many sketchy trailers flying down the road and it’s super dangerous to the driver and other people on the road. These trailers are light duty but if you’re going to run them at highway speeds, best to have your weight distribution (tongue weight), lug nut torque, bearing adjustment and lubrication, and tire pressure right. Look up “death wobble” and see what happens when, for example, tongue weight is off.

nice video so often overlooked maintenance before its to late. Maybe a video to check for bearing play would be helpful as well.
