When I was looking at your portable bandsaw thing, I was thinking get some wingnut bolts to bolt them down and then cut slots in the feet such that once you loosen them a little bit, you can just slide the thing out.
Love your tiny shop! I’m a retired toolmaker and have a metal/wood shop in my 3 car garage. Along with 3 custom motorcycles I’ve built it’s really cramped. I have a Bridgeport and 15 inch lathe. Those obviously stay in place other than that I’ve made bases with locking casters under everything else. Bandsaw, cut off saw, drill press,20 ton hydraulic press, mig and tig welders , table saw, a work bench with compound miter saw. 2 work benches with vise , welding plate, grinders etc. a throat less shear and 6x18 belt sander ,pedestal buffer and one grinder. Also I have 2 storage racks and a 36 x 72 metal cabinet. WOW talk about Tetris ! But works for me. I will admit your stuff looks so much cleaner and nicer lol. Great videos! Weld on !

Nice shop! I also have an Evolution saw. Best saw ever! Every Fab shop should have one.
While I'm certainly NOT a good welder, I do manage to stick things together so they stay stuck. Welding is only one small part of what I do and my shop isn't huge so the welding area needs to be contained. That looks like such a great mini-shop area by my definitions. Sort of the idea I'm working towards.

Adjustable feet are a good idea. I have built enough wobbly things to learn that I need to use them!
If you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable! My floor is so far from flat that it's essential for me.

Go ahead and use any ideas from my channel! Working in a smaller space can be a challenge, but it's a bit of a fun puzzle too.
I have less than a hand full of years myself to remember to put a ground clamp on😂
Or switch to oxy fuel welding since it doesnt need a ground clamp

I actually enjoy gas welding, but trying to actually fabricate anything with OA is brutal!

@@TimWelds that is how i learned welding when i was 12 …. Mig with 18, tig with 19, sub arc with 27 and stick with 32 or 33….
OA is a little slow but very forgiving
tomorrow morning i start my mig course. if things work out, i'll start also a stick class in the evening. then i'll be rich!
I have a small space too,I would had to added a storage shelf did that to my drill press to store all the vises. Very nice build as usual

I found it particularly useful if the desktop tool has holes for attachment: Bicycle Saddle Quick Release Clip (or sometimes called; Aluminium Alloy Quick Release Bike Seat Post Clamp Skewer Bolt Seatpost) instead of toggle clamps. Relatively more secure.

If you raised that bandsaw up enough that what was on the table cleared the beltsander then you'd have to remove it a whole lot less. If you moved it back some, so that the front clears what you want to beltsand then you'd have to remove it a whole lot less. The point being, if you want functional tool stands, make sure what you're working on, especially long things, clears the other things in your shop and especially on that stand.
Bonus points if you line things up such that the table of one tool acts as a support for long things on another tool.
Another option is to make your stands on wheels and then mount things such that each tool is on one edge, with everything clearing. Need the other tool? Just rotate the stand. You could have mounted all 4 of those tools on one stand, using a lot less space in the process.

Maybe instead of the toggle clamps you could have made four hooks of flat bar, so you could push the feet in from the front. To stop them from moving forwards, you tap the front hooks and have a couple of bolts to screw down into the holes in the feet and maybe into the board as well.

Given your limited space I was thinking a rotating table top with the tools mounted to the wood on either side would be nice. Just a quick flip and you've got the other tool ready.

I too forget this on a semi-regular basis. I always say my machine is smarter than I am, it won't work until I set it up correctly.

I think wing nuts would be an effective solution compared to the toggle clamps. As it doesn't make your table more user friendly.
Add a vise and a bench grinder and you don't need much more.

Where did you get that light over your weld table at?
When you get older than 50, Then you start forgetting where you set tools down that you used within the last minute and you haven't moved. Convenience takes over sensible things to do.
Oh no! I'm already there with forgetting where I set my tools down. I probably lose a couple hours a week to hunting for stuff that's right by me. Oh well...

They are from Quantum Machinery to go with the Siegmund table and quick bolts, I've been really impressed with everything in that package. Another simple option that I use regularly are squares from Genuine Metal Works.
Wanted know what blade you use for cutting steel on the compound miter saw Thanks
It's the stock Evolution 14" chop saw blade. This saw is specially designed for metal cutting and runs at a slower speed than a regular miter saw. There are a few blades out there that you could try, but my experience has been that the higher speed saws for wood can also work well for aluminum, but with steel, they create so much heat that the blades don't last long. That’s not where all the chips end up. I started putting rare earth magnets all over that chop saw and they get fluffy pretty fast.

They are part of the package that came with the Siegmund table from Quantum Machinery. They attach to the fixture table using special quick bolts. It's certainly not cheap, but it is very high quality. There are some other basic options, such as the squares from Genuine Metalworks, which I also use regularly.

I´m looking into abrasiveless cutting for ferrous now, in my area an Evolution brand saw like yours there will cost me an arm and a ham. At Ebay I found several drycut circular blades seemingly made for rpm´s of wood working saws. Can such things be good for anything else but wasting away money, in your opinion ?

It's from Precision Matthews, model 728VT. I bought it about a year ago as an upgrade from the Harbor Freight mini mill that I had for about 7 years based on a friend's recommendation. The new PM mill is Taiwanese rather than Chinese and is exceptionally high quality; I'm really impressed with it so far. If you wan to know all about it, Quinn on the Blondihacks YT channel did a really nice review of it a few months back.

I was with you until the toggles for the saw. Table is useless unless the toggles are also removable from the table top, may as well bolt it down.
Good point. I don't have any intention of using the table for anything else, I just want to be able to remove the saw to use it in other places.
Okay so I'm NOT crazy to end up with a garage shop layout that puts the welding table right by the door to the house.
