The iPod should be on iOS 3 and if that’s a 3rd gen, then that’s the original version of iOS it runs and that makes it more valuable

im guessing its a iPod touch 2G with iPhoneOS 2. its original os. you could tell because there is no spotlight search, that came in iPhoneOS 3
and if you’re wondering why they didn’t update it to OS 3 - that was a paid upgrade for the Touch back in 2009! iOS 4 was free, but they probably stopped using it at some point before iOS 4 released

Sigh I missed out on this decade in 2009 I had the iPod Nano fourth generation the iPod touch way too expensive especially this 3rd generation my first iPod touch was the 4th generation this was very nostalgic to look at and I very very enjoyed the way you went down memory lane with every app they iPod touch I use now the 7th generation and I’m still using it even though iPods are discounted discontinued

The youtube app actually dosent work it runs because of cached info that was never erased to actually fix it use tuberepair in cydia. And also the old api is shut down so this tweak uses a new api
It's best not to fix it. It they fixed it, the super old cached data would be lost. Plus, they have no reason to fix the RUclips app. Also, isn't it TubeFixer that fixes the old built-in RUclips app?

I'm surprised that that thing actually lets you open a RUclips version this old. My first Android smartphone doesn't even let me open RUclips anymore because it's outdated and can't be updated anymore either.
Feels to me that Apple doesn't care about usability of their apps.

Nice find! That iPod Touch appears to be a second gen on iOS 2 because it as an 8GB model, and in the settings app there is a fetch data option near the top. Great find!!

I had an iPod touch back in the day. I remember wanting one for years, and then in 2011 I finally bought one. I was an iPod nano guy. Still have my original nanos and even my og touch. It was the 4th gen, I think the first one with a camera. It changed my life back then I think lol. I was 19 and it was also at the time when smart phones were becoming more popular.
I bought one of the last ones when they discontinued it and I still haven’t opened it.
To my surprise today, I received an order from Jacob’s whatnot iPod sale and lo and behold I had purchased THIS IPOD. I was literally watching the video as I was opening the package and was like, hold up, is this the iPod?!

I remember listening to music on RUclips and hitting the side button once then the home button 3 times and you were able to listen to RUclips vids with the screen off

That appears to be an iPod Touch 2G on iPhone OS 2.0. This is because there's no Spotlight Search, which came with iPhone OS 3.0. iPhone OS 2.0 only ran on the first and second iPod Touches, and this iPod Touch has a built-in speaker and the design of the iPod Touch 2G/3G. This means this iPod Touch is actually from 2008 instead of 2009, though that's its release date and not necessarily its manufacture date.
TL;DR, you actually have an iPod Touch 2G on its original firmware.

I didnt have one that early on. But i did go thru 3 6th gen red touches. They were cool but had so many issues.

Mine must be older than yours. WiFi does connect but App Store and iTunes both error out with “can’t connect to iTunes Store”. So no installing apps. Safari does load and run a google search but the links almost all error out with “can’t connect securely. So, uses for it?
Jailbreak it. All iOS versions pre-iOS 6 are like this today but can be fixed with tweaks in Cydia.
