Another great video Walter! I love the point system that you have set up for your site reviews. Hope this doesn't sound weird, but I honestly get a "comfort food" feeling with all of your videos. You cover every topic I want to hear about, you present it well and very authentically. If you ever started a Patreon channel/account, I would absolutely support it. Please keep them coming!
@ that dish made by anybody is an all time favorite of mine. I need another road trip. I’m aching to drive to APEX to see if Plug & charge actually works on BMW. That’s a LONG way from Atlanta. I’d need to stop by a few PRJ’s and have apple pie and ice cream to do it! Soon.
@@SteveBirkett I would think for the Interstate Chargers, yes. But for city chargers, “not applicable” or “bonus points”. On a road trip, I would love MEAL options. In a city charger, the most anyone would likely want is a snack, danish, coffee, water, etc. IMO. City charging and Interstate charging seem to me to have evolved into very different things with a whole set of requirements specific to each of those use cases.
I sure hope that, by the time my free EA window expires in another year, there will be plenty of these sites in my corner of the country. Love these chargers!
Thanks, Walter! It's pretty nice that even in a baseline configuration, these PFJ-GM Energy sites are a compelling offering. Even with the no pull-through stalls, you might be able to sneak a truck + trailer in behind the units.
I just can’t get over how much nicer the PFJ facilities are than any other charging station I’ve been to! Until IONNA and Love’s are common, PFJ gets my business if they’re anywhere along my route.
Actually there are Shell recharge Fast chargers a couple miles east of that Flying J location at Tanger outlets in Mebane. I live and work in the triad and there are plenty fast chargers in that section of 40, and they’re building a Buckee’s in that area as well. We actually need more FC’s west of Greensboro. There are almost none between Greensboro and Charlotte on 85 and only one at a dealership in Winston-Salem between the EA’s in Greensboro and Statesville NC on I40, 75 miles apart. There is real opportunity here in the Winston area, with almost no infrastructure heading into the foothills and western NC on 40 and 421.
Walter, excellent site review. I gotta say, an apple crisp with salted caramel and a soda? With a togo cup? Talk about a sugar rush!😊 You’re a hardier man than I.
You got me at salted caramel…….. Yum. Now I have to sit at the stairmaster at level 10 for 40 minutes. Just thinking about that delicious yummy crispy warm. The freaking place is like my best friends Hungarian’s grandmother‘s kitchen, it just doesn’t stop smelling good and giving delicious superb homemade……. Of course it feels like home, it is home. GM Cadillac Volvo, Apple crisp pilot EV goand USA.
Thanks for the review Walter. Great to see 1MW serving 800kW of chargers. No over commitment like some providers. I don’t think you mentioned if your car got to full charging speed on this stop? Bummer about the lack of Vanilla Ice Cream, I guess that’s not on Eric’s checklist 😅
Actually not sure. I made a dash for the hot apple crisp I knew they were hiding in there. Everything else faded in importance. In all seriousness, I forgot to check. There were high winds & the drone wasn’t flying well, which got me distracted

Thanks Walter. Great to see the builds from PFJ. They are by far my favorite also.
try the baked apple crisp sometime. You won't be disappointed. Thx for watching.

Shouldn't the News Coulomb review model incorporate appropriate foodstuffs? 🤔

There’s not a lot of them near me, but if I pass by a Pilot Flying J, I always think of you.
Walter, another great review with lots of details.
0:52 it feels like home because it IS home. Good bye Love's and hello Pilot Flying J. Great video as always Mr. Architect.
I prefer pfj over others, they should advertise. Again buddy you are a treasure and keep up great work.

The sense I get is it has been perfected over decades w/ EV just getting added to the fold. Stiff competition 4 sure. Thx 4 watching

I live in Winston-Salem. Not much fast charging. Sad actually.
True about Buc-ees. My friend is the Mayor of Mebane, and Buc-ees is coming to Mebane.

W/hand applied salted caramel drizzle. I’m telling ya….
Totally dig the PRTG shirt. Thanks for the site review too ..
PRTG nerd 4 life.
The Prodigal returns!!! I knew silicon-carbide rectifiers couldn’t keep you away forever! 😂
Lol
They were on Plugshare as in construction for like 1.5 years. I'm glad they finally finished it.
It has been a long time coming. I was happy to see it go live and finally visit it too.

Such a disappointing EV charging stop! I can't believe they were out of ice cream and needed to double up your whip cream!
Fun to see u eating pie ar Dennys
PRTG FTW!
Pretty much. That shirt came from germany.
One apple crisp = 10.4 kWh, at this location 🧮
It’s a new unit of measurement.
With hand applied salted Carmel drizzle. Hot & delicious. The highlight of the trip, hands down
