Node Red MQTT on the Raspberry Pi

  • Node Red has quite rightly generated a huge head of steam in the 3 years since IBM released it as an Open Source project. Here I quickly review the interface and short circuit some of the installation and upgrade problems. If you need a reason to learn OO JavaScript then this too is an excellent starting point.
    A BETTER UPGRADE IS HERE • Node-Red Raspberry Pi ...

    I would like to express sincerely my acknowledgment for this video. I got graduated recently as Mechanical Engineer, (no deep knowledge about coding associated) and this video is helping me to manage useful info of the real world, and not dying in the way. It seems that the world is always telling us that is not possible to make our own devices and machines (instead of buying it) (and of course, not with social motivations), so thanks for take the opposite way.

    I know this is an old video but wanted to thank you for one of the best videos on this subject. While I have a boatload of Raspberry Pi's around the house, mostly for KODI, and lighting display stuff, I had never tried Node Red simply because of, shall we say less than stellar information/videos on the web.
    So, yesterday, using your video, I was successful in getting a Pi running Node Red and even sending e-mails which, for anyone who has tried to do send e-mails in a C or VB or other language, knows is not an easy feat. With Node Red, a few click, enter basic account information, deploy, DONE.
    Brilliant best describes you ability to convey a subject in a clearly understood manner.
    Hope to use this to get off of ewelink's [ITEAD Sonoff] server and use the Pi/Node Red/MQTT to run my home automation.
    Thank you very much.

    Wow!
    I've seen dozens of videos on Node-Red, including the annoying guy who speak in exclamation marks!
    None have been this easy to understand or as complete.
    I didn't see your "Next video" you referred to at the end. I looked in your play lists and videos, but couldn't find them.
    I can only imagine how much work it took to make this video. I wanted to thank you for spending that time. It helped me a lot. Please do more videos on this HOT subject.
    IOT is exploding and ESP modules are everywhere.
    You gained another devoted subscriber. Cheers.

    • @richard_wenner
      @richard_wenner  6 лет назад

      Thank you - this is certainly the way to galvanise me into further action. I agree with you regarding the 'hot topic' issue (that and MQTT). There are however a couple of updates that make the process of installation and update on the Pi far easier (there should be a ref below). These videos do consume a lot of time. Many times I've things planned and the Master (Andreas Spiess - the 'Guy with the Swis Accent') has beaten me to it - with far better stuff.

    • @pirateman1966
      @pirateman1966 6 лет назад

      @@richard_wenner I've seen all your videos now. You shouldn't compare your videos with that of that German Robot. His videos are so boring! great as a sleeping aid.
      If you do a search, you will find that there is no good videos that deal with only node-red and MQTT, which is more than enough to run a small house with a smart phone as the UI.
      It's always complicated with home assistant or OpenHAB or other flavors of the day.
      The one video I found useful, was from BitLuni ruclips.net/video/GeN7g4bdHiM/видео.html which is well done.
      The guy from "opto video" may have some stuff, but I just can't stand him long enough to find out with the way he talks in a constant state of exclamation mark. It's like a millennium whining in my ear, with an occasional shitty music.
      You have a presentation style unique to you. Don't sell that short. Cheers.

      Thank you for your reply - this video was borne out of the frustration of problems with differing versions of the component software. It could be an idea to store a copy of this image online(?). The other option would be to start with a minimal installation and use Git just to install only the required components which is quicker. This route took time and installs everything which is good thorough option for 'newbies' I presumed.
