As a true music lover, I do appreciate vinil, but without forgetting to acknowledge the pros and cons of the abundance of options We have nowadays. All we need is to live a life where we are fully present and aware, by doing so there is less waste of our energy and resources towards things that doesn't really bring us joy and true satisfaction. When I'm listening to my favourite music, it doesn't matter it's vinil, iPad, laptop, phone .. im fully present enjoying that moment, the source becomes almost irrelevant when the content takes priority.

This is eloquent! And yet this is my challenge; I don’t think I’m present if I haven’t chosen my music. I will aspire to be more like you. Thanks for watching kind sir!!

semi-retired vinyl collector here. But still have around 300 lol. Loved this video and seeing you begin your journey. Did you tease at the end a crate digging video?? ps the best part of this video for me was the scene with you and your son on the balcony. Felt like quiet scene/moment from a film. Bravo.

Thank you for complimenting and enjoying. The balcony shot was a happy mistake; I didn't want the camera on the balcony out there with us while staining and then I was surprised how well it turned out. Yes this a fun and enjoyable journey. Id like to think I'll retire before I hit 300, lol, most likely not...Again THANK YOU!

What a stylish looking turntable you have there, Timothy 😏 Great job on the video; you explain the deep-rooted ritual of vinyl listening very well.

You guys got me!!! I was trying to not go down this rabbit hole, but your beautiful turntables were just too alluring. Thanks for watching!

I like your Fluance Turntable. I've been looking into buying a nice turntable and I kind of honed in on Fluance. I think that's what brought me to your channel. Currently using a Dual turntable passed down from my dad. Nice job getting everything up and running. I love the sound of vinyl, always have. Grew up with it. I also have CD's reel to reel, cassettes etc. but vinyl always wins. Thank you for your insight, enjoyed it!

Thank you for watching! Yeah nothing beats the sound of vinyl! Passed down from your dad?! That’s very cool. I’m truly happy with Fluance. I think it’s a lot of bang for your buck.

you are spot on, we no longer "listen" we click through segments of songs. The art of listening is lost. Verses vinyl, you are inactive with the music, you actually listen. There is also a phenomena we used to call dynamic headroom, technically I think it is dynamic range, it is only through vinyl we hear it. I have a vast collection of vinyl dating back through the 60's. I will have a good turntable till I die. One minor point, remove the dust cover when you play, it reduces feedback.

Your agreeable assessment is so very validating. Thanks for watching and enjoying. Now you have me searching dynamic headroom. And will take off that dusk over!!

lol! An emotion called, "what is that?" we had as youth growing up with those pops, hisses, scratches, skips, etc., lol. When the digital age came some of us old timers cried, Hallalujah!
I still spin some vinyl, but not very often. Too much trouble; cleaning, brushes, anti-static, needles, 15-20 minutes a side and UP to flip that album, lol. Oh, the horror! The horror!
Vinyl nostalgia! Yeah it looks cool. Turntables are interesting aesthetic pieces, and a number of other things. But the truth. I get up in the morinng and I ask, Vinyl or CD? CD 90% of the time maybe 95%.
I have to dust my tables off every few weeks from lack of use.
That said. Nice project. And those Fluance tables are GREAT values and look good too. Their speakers are also pretty good. But with that 80s amp, I'd go with some vinatge speakers for that true vintage sound. Some Boston Acoustics A70s, Advent Laureate, or Polk Monitor 5s or 7s on the floor? WIll give you a fuller bigger sound.

I almost missed this comment?! Yeah nothing convenient about vinyl but I’m loving it. I haven’t listened to a cd on a nice stereo in years so I’m enamored with just sound quality right now. I think my next purchase will be a cd changer. I’ve been toying with the idea of a server with my music on it, but I think quality will not be as good as cd.
Thanks for watching and recommending some other speakers. Where’s a good spot to grab some vintage speakers?
