As it mercilessly and savagely devouring the golpher, I just love the calming contrast of the egret's feather gently waving in the wind and the birds cheerfully chirping in the background. God truly has created some marvelous creatures. Well shot, my friend.
Thanks and very well said. This bird really left an impression on me. It was so beautiful and I thought it was delicate but it showed it was also a great hunter of gophers.
Thanks I was really surprised by that too. I saw this one with blood on its bill so I was finally able to gain its trust enough to follow it for awhile to confirm my suspicions.
This is what wildlife does, it hunts and eats what it has to in order to survive. It's along the same lines of how cats choose containers to nap in: "If I fits I sits!" Only it's more like "If it fits I eats!"
They must have an iron grip with their beaks. If we tried to kill that gopher with our bare hands, even with gloves on, I bet it would be hard to do, them rodents being so fast.
Gooooood. I had one of these birds stop by my back yard the other day. I’ve got a gopher I’ve been trying to deal with. Maybe we’re able to help each other.
Jim: I'm not sure why this gopher isn't wearing his pants. Me: Sometimes we just want to walk around pants-less in our own homes Jim, stop judging him!
Such majestic creatures. You have to appreciate its skill in both hunting and subduing its prey. Its strike was with precision in a vital neck area--you can see the blood on the tip of its beak. I can't say more as youtube is deleting my comments--talking about nature is not allowed.
Yeah I think that guy was the most jaw dropping animal I ever videoed and it was also the most surprising since I didn’t even suspect they hunted gophers.
This is earth, life eats life. We eat life whether it be plant or animal to live, plants/bacteria/animals eat the living remains of us. Its an ecosystem based on death and life, both being a natural process that ALL life experiences. Do not fear death, your body is but borrowed remains of nature. One day you will give it back and start your new adventure. A beautiful system.
That was one of the very common Eastern Fox Squirrels in our city park. As their name suggests, they aren’t native to California. I have never seen a heron catch one of these types of squirrels.
Yeah, the little guy is terrified and suffering, you can see his heart rate and breathing rhythm and the way his tail shakes. These birds don't really grant their prey a merciful death.
Yeah I always feel a little bit sad for the gopher but I spend more time with the birds and I worry about them if they don’t get enough to eat but this guy was one of the best hunters I have seen.
Dinosaurs among us - also known as tall, white birds that munch burrowing rodents!

Excellent captures as always... especially shooting into the sunrise.
Good morning! Fascinating footage. I live in Florida Key’s. I had no idea they ate gopher. Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful footage of nature

Very cool video! And yes, I am really glad, the first gopher did survive 🙂
I find myself rooting for the gophers but I get worried if the herons / egrets don’t eat enough.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing so wonderful video. Big Like
That great egret was so beautiful to watch. I think I was barely breathing when I videoed it.
Great video. I see them a lot here in Florida around the ponds and lakes eating nearly anything it can catch. They're such stealthy hunters.
Yes they are!

Yeah you’re right he can gopher it if he wants.
Such majestic creatures.

What a gorgeous creature ❤

Fantastic video !! ATB MMMD
Thanks. I made a lot of videos but I don’t think I have ever been more in awe how beautiful the subject was as this Great Egret.

What was the creature running in the background at 7:37? Was it a cottontail?

Beautiful, elegant, graceful, deadly. What more does one need?
6:10 - pretty sure the gopher peed itself, from fear of course

Well, wouldn’t you?😊
@@bolynn9668 "Bolynn" huh? Your first name wouldn't happen to be "Anne" now, would it? 😉
3:03 jakie ruchy XDD!
Wow
Sucks to be at the bottom of the food chain.
It's goodbye to the gopher sad isn't it
Yeah I always feel a little bit sad for the gopher but I spend more time with the birds and I worry about them if they don’t get enough to eat but this guy was one of the best hunters I have seen.
Wouldnt it be sad to see an Egret passing out ( and dying) from starvation, because he couldnt catch a gopher to eat?
Es todo un proceso el trasegarse al bicho, se resbala
Birds turning back into dinosaurs
No doubt. They are gobbling mammals too.
They are dinosaurs
