I love this song, it contains one of my favorite lyrics. "The unity bond is broken and the loyalty songs are fake I'll screw my only brother for even a glimpse at a piece of the cake"
we was galloping down the blackened hills in to the gaping trap bridges burned behind us and there are waiting guns ahead into the valley of death rode the brave hundreds
I find it so perfect how Justin managed to make this a protest song and a history lesson at the same time. Such perfect lyrics intertwineing the charge of the light brigade with a song that in other words says 'Get your ass up and do something, your government is comparing its dick with the opposition, the are not here for you. Justin thank you for this song, your lyrics have carried me through dark times. Boys and maybe Gals I loved all your comments. Everyone was a little match in a dark world. And too the levellers story from davecarey5900, remember Jusins first artists Name? 'Slade the leveller'
Ok so the levellers new model army have a connection in history. We tried to overthrow parliament in the 1500s ovliver Cromwell with his army called the new model army and with in Cromwells new model army was a group of men who believed in vote for the common man wealth redistribution these men called them selves the levellers
On a musical level Rev Hammer released an album in 1996 entitled “Free Born John” which is about John Lilburne (1614-1657) one of the Levellers; the story involves Oliver Cromwell’s New Model Army and the Levellers, while musically the album involves Justin Sullivan’s NMA and The Levellers, as well as Maddy Prior and a host of others

"the leaders up at the location were so righteous in defeat but no one needs morality when there isnt enough to eat "
This is a misheard lyric. It's actually "the leaders offer the cliché words, so righteous in defeat..."
“On, on, on - cried the leaders at the back…” love it!
