Took years to figure out Steve Smith doesn't have a hard touch and to restrain myself severely any time I play Journey. I'm by no means Buddy Rich; good thing I can sing. And smart enough to find great players. Most singers on YT are processed. Way too much for me or how Perry was in his prime. I prefer a very straight tone, minus 'verb and a bit of compression if totally necessary. Sometimes a smaller, hot room requires it. Pretty much how SP works when he sings. :)
You'll gonna have a great review in a german online metal magazine in a few days ;) I get tons of core and shitty, uncreative Death Metal and your stuff was EXACTLY what I am always looking for!
Wow, just wow. I am a big Journey fan (saw them multiple times in the early 80's). I also really like classic "hard" rock; and this cover melds the two together. I dare say this is better than the original, granted Schon's solo was better. Keep it up. It would be fun to hear a bunch more Journey covers: Wheel in the Sky, Don't Stop, etc...
I love this song and I love searching RUclips for all the various covers, good job!! Having never played a guitar in my life, I spent 14 months learning this song and nothing else and played it at my wedding to surprise my bride! So, if you need an extra guitarist gimme a shout! haha
