speaking as someone who played Honky tonk Train Blues to 5000 people at the age of 15 in 1964 you are the finest blues/boogie player I've come across on You Tube, amongst many paler imitations
I must say, you are the most talented pianist I have ever witnessed, and I'm 59 years old so that's saying something. Thank you for the show, but you can only imagine how inadequate I feel since I'm only in my 11 month of playing, or should I say learning. Amazing!
OMG I do not have the words to describe how much I enjoyed that and how much I learn watching your lessons. Top teacher and musician. I salute you sir!
I discovered you and your music ~2 months ago and I am still completely amazed by your skills! truly amazing. I could listen to you playing over and over again for days
Brilliant playing. Im wondering what is the most common key to play blues and boogie woogie in. do guitarists play blues in some keys more often than other keys. love the videos.
Some truly beautiful playing Paddy, which I'm in the early stages of learning. I can get the left hand patterns and with much practice (an hour a day) the right. As ever, its trying to put the two together which is taking the most time. But then if it was easy it wouldn't worth doing. Many thanks for the inspiration Doc
Hey Doc! Thanks! Glad you're finding it useful and inspiring. The independence between the hands is definitely a huge thing. Without knowing exactly how you're thinking about it, rather than thinking of 'putting the two hands together', try getting that left hand totally solid and working on it's own so that when you come to add the right hand your mind can concentrate on that. A good way, which I mention on the course, is to start by playing round the 12bar with the left hand on it's own and then play some completely random things with the right (hey, play with your elbow, as long as that left hand keeps chugging away!). This should help improve independence. Or you could try reading a paper while playing the left hand. Basically anything to split the brain in two. When you come to introduce the right hand parts you should be able to focus more easily on them fitting over the left hand. Good luck and thanks again!
@@paddymilnerpiano Thank you for good advices Paddy. Im also struggling with consistency of playing left and right hand advanced parts, and you are a shining diamond with your skills as a player and a teacher. You are the only one that break apart James Booker style so well in your courses that I could extract so much stuff from it. Keep rocking. :-)
I was Interested. So thanks very much for your playing. Big to watch you or sample lesson, it’s requires Facebook account. And that’s not for me. To much bad things about Facebook Oh well
sounds awesome... @paddy - is the $45 course for just the 14 lessons for the Blues Shuffle, or is it as stated elsewhere.. "2413 lessons from one of the top blues pianists in the world" ? tia
Carlene Chestnut Thanks for watching! This isn’t the tuition part, this is a demonstration of the kinds of things I go through in detail on the course which is available through the good folks of Music Gurus...
So good to know we have such a blues piano reference these days
