Amazing video. I installed wine from Synaptic and had to manually copy the notepad++ exe and create .desktop file. I did not know installing through wine was also possible. This opens up so many windows for me. Cheers.
one thing i’ve found as well is if you want to run a .bat file, you first open terminal, navigate to the directory the file was in (“cd /home/username/Downloads” for example) then run “wine cmd” followed by “start yourfile.bat” hope this helps someone :)
to help out some people, please note - if you get the error "E: Unable to locate package winehq-stable" iThe name of the install package is different from that stated in the wiki. Instead of typing: sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-stable instead type sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine-stable
this is the final straw, Im switching to linux, it has almost everything from windows and it's safer, open source and has hundreds of distors, you don't like your distro you get other in a mater of minutes. TL:DR: you should switch to linux :P
@Excuse me Wth I was dualbooting with elementary for a few weeks (it was amazing) but i was dualbooting from a pendrive so it was slow. My computer is the most mid-end computer you could see (most games run on 60fps because of a i5-7300HQ, 16 GB of ram and a gtx 1050), but I wanted to switch to somthing lighter like ubuntu or popOS or manjaro or ubuntu budgie and being the fool I am I just formated the pendrive not thinking much of it and it's now bricked, I'm going to buy a new external hhd (ssd is expensive as hell) shrink it by somthing like 60 gb so that i can get some games running and try some other systems
@MatZ I have an internal NVMe drive, witch is better then an ssd, windows runs smoothly, I forgot to mention that my computer is a laptop (sorry), so interal ssds are out of the window nad external ones (1 TB is my minimum because with 256GB im gonna burn through it in like a month and with a 512 gb it's still not enough for me, the games i get are usually on average the weigh 20 gb or 15 so with my about 300 or 350 games aka about 750 GB (on average) I'm kinda on a storage limit, my python projects are about 500mb and my school work is about 1GB, and so I get 250GB) a smaller drive ain't gonna cut it, it's mostly just for testing and this will be a temporary solution and once I get more money on chrismas or somthing else I'm going to buy a proper external ssd and have it for games only, for now and for me an hdd has a great capacity and a great price, like 75 dollars (about 200 zloty) is better then 200 dollars for an ssd (500-650 zloty). TL:DR for now an hdd is going to be a better choice
windows 10 kills the low or mid-end hardware fast cause of their sophisticated running system program in the background. If win 10's not legit, their updates will make your memories work like 10x the usual task heating them pretty fast and wearing them down fast. Cracked software will be even worse for win OS. Thats how their designed their system. Unknown product keys, cracked product keys they'll let you run it in their system but they gonna put some hardwork on your hardware thus making its lifespan short.
I switched to Linux Mint 18.3 64-bit, originally it was 32-bit, until I found out they factory installed Windows XP 32-bit on a computer with a 64-bit processor. This meant I could put in the aforementioned Linux version and also added more RAM. I'm not using this computer other than as project to learn more about Linux.

to anyone who is here for games running wine, look up *Lutris* easy to follow instructions on their webpage for installation and when installing wine required packages/games through, it installs the best suited wine version for that game, not only that, but it provides you with a very nice *hub* for all your games to be collected in one place.

It worked for me without knowing how exactly, the errors were still appearing but by chance I found that the emulator is working. I tried several ways including this video and two instructions, one on winehq website and one on vitux. So I don't know which one solved the problem.

I don't know why but every time it is failing by network issues 101. My internet is really fast and is working. I tried running multiple times, but its failing. Pls help

Just do this install instead: sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine-stable
