Its so bad because the intestines get super gassed up from eating just once a day and it is difficult to be passed. This can cause many problems in the digestive system and even make you short of breath when the gassed up bowels compress the lungs
I really wish social anxiety was nonexistent in your life because everyone around you needs your beautiful and hilarious self in their life. You bring so much light and laughs that it’s ridiculous! 💕
There's such an overwhelming number of women on here commenting that they need a bea in their lives... i feel that way too... why is it so hard to make friends when we all want them?!
I related to her when she said she didn’t know when she’s hungry from when she’s not that was so my problem I would just eat out of boredom or because I bought the food so it was like why waste it. But b definitely makes me want to try omad
I swear intermittent fasting or omad are amazing to learn to distinguish real hunger from anxiety/boredom hungry. I don't do IF anymore, but I did for a year and I can tell when I'm physically hungry, and when I just want to eat because im stresses and want to munch on something 😳🤣 that way is easier to caught myself!
Same I always stuff my stomach with food. I'm not even hungry but I just can't stop eating. I eat to the point that I almost throw up. not sure if it's binge eating disorder :( so I just download an eating disorder recovery apps from the app store. I write food diary and mood diary to check my diet and see what's triggering my unhealthy eating habits.
Vicki Grimm this is true which in why I started my journey I’m more conscious of what I’m eating and how much now? And I drink tons of water. Gave up juice and soda completely a couple months ago. Plus water keeps the belly full
Nerea I feel you I was the same way any type of pressure I would sit eat, recklessly and a lot of it. It’s not until I tracked my calorie intake that I noticed that I was over eating!!
Hey B, just want to say how awesome you are. You have inspired me so much. I’m just a big dude trying to take control of my life. For the first time in... ever! Thank you for helping me with that! I’m two months in, have lost nearly 40lbs and will for sure be participating the 5K! I’m so excited to be doing this challenge. I will be cycling on my fat boy bike which I’ve had forever but finally started to use two months ago. I’ve been riding on average 2 miles a day, which is a miracle for me! I also ordered two shirts for the fundraiser, one that is one size smaller than I am now, and a second one that is 2 sizes smaller so I have a goal to work for! I can’t wait to get them. Sorry for the long post, but I am literally excited about life for the first time in a long time. Thank you for helping me get my A$$ in gear. Do you chick, always, because you are amazing!!
That is amazing!!! Congratulations on the 40lbs lost!!! Also, I feel honored that the 5k shirts are going to be your goal shirts... got me smiling ear to ear!!😊😊😊 Sending you good luck on your journey! We got this💪💪🦕💛
I agree with OMAD was difficult for a person with a history of binge eating. I can't see myself eating my caloric intake in one meal without it stretching my stomach if I was only to eat healthy wholefoods. I tried it for a week. I wouldn't recommend if you're a binge eater as it can be triggering. I stopped as it triggered me. I went back to do 16:8. I hate eating in front of people too, for many reasons, but I won't say as they are not nice and I don't want to trigger anyone.
Yes. It is disordered eating. Better to not mess with these things. You'll be better off eating good healthy and tasty food 3 times with fruit snacks and exercising everyday. Within a year you'll have a healthy sustainable body. If you keep trying things like this and diets you'll be dieting forever.
"I dressed like a sea snake today so the likely hood of getting eaten by sharks is unlikely." this former marine biologist laughed so hard at this. Love you Bea!!!!
Whenever you're feeling down, please remember you've got thousands of people around the world wishing you the best. Also, you deserve all that support for sharing your energy and personality with us on your journey!
@@katatonic726 I did try to consider social anxiety as I wrote the comment! The number of viewers for each video could fill a stadium, but that's probably not a helpful image every time she turns the camera on...
BEA 👏🏻 YOU’RE 👏🏻 SO 👏🏻RELATABLE!👏🏻 The ordering multiple sandwiches and drinks to make it look like you’re ordering for more than yourself but then you eat all of the things. That was also me. Your journey is still inspiring! I’ve been on my weight loss journey since the beginning of quarantine and so far I’ve lost 25 lbs! Something I thought was impossible. Thanks for another upload! ❤️ Ps this episode is hilarious 😆
I keep trying and trying but never get that far. Its always like a few pounds off and then quickly back on. And so on. And i feel like I'm doing all the right things. Well and then i give up and I know that's not helping :(
Giny Grey it is not easy, that’s for sure. I had no motivation at all- and the same would happen to me, except I would never try hard enough to lose in the first place, I just kept gaining and gaining. I’ve worked in the food business all my life and that was a huge factor. I also am surrounded by amazing restaurants that I would order from frequently. Since covid, I’m not working and unable to go out to eat, so I think that’s what has helped me more than anything this time around. It’s hard. I’ve overeaten and have been overweight since i was 5. I was/ am definitely addicted to food. I love food and I LOVE to cook! my biggest issue was portion control. I started there, and it was tough. But you get used to it. Then I took it a step further and started eating healthier, more vegetables, grains, lean meats, etc, and that has transitioned into *mostly* vegan. I still will eat unhealthy things from time to time, but I try to stay within my calorie budget. Counting calories has made me realize the ungodly amount of food I was eating all the time, and now I’m full on half the caloric intake I used to eat. YOU CAN DO THIS!! “Don’t be afraid to start over. This time, you’re not starting from scratch, you’re starting from experience.” I believe in you !!
the other day I ordered two pizzas because the pizza place had a diet coke special price and i got four and i didn't want them to think they were all for me (they were) so then i ate pizza for to days
I actually loved OMAD, and it worked really well for me, when I was working a warehouse job. I had a Keurig in my workspace, and there was no food around, so it was easy to just drink water and black coffee during the day. My one meal was in the evening when I had dinner with my spouse. This routine was a lot harder to keep up when I wasn't in the warehouse anymore, and my next job was in a natural foods store with a cafe in it. I could smell fresh food cooking all day, and I wasn't able to resist having a bite for lunch most days. So, the more you're able to separate yourself from food, the easier OMAD becomes.
Bea it DOES come in waves! It's affected by a hormone called ghrelin, which affects our brain in waves. I highly recommend Sugar: The Bitter Truth if you wanna learn more about it :)
One of the best, most eye opening things I have ever watched in my life. Dr Robert Lustig is amazing, and I credit him with my success in changing my diet and lifestyle.
When i do omad i let myself eat at my pace and it usually exceeds an hour. And also my motto is, oh i can eat that tomorrow. So i feel definitely calmer around food, because nothing is a strict no and you let your body tell you what it wants. But this works when I’m able to manage my stress levels.
As an avid OMADER, I can’t imagine starting OMAD cold turkey, or starting from a full carb diet. To me you have to ease into it - low carb first, then IF 16:8, IF 18:6, IF 20:4, then OMAD. Once your solidly OMAD’ing like a pro, then you can reintroduce some carbs but not too much. This progression took weeks for me. Otherwise my blood sugar would be freaking the hell out.
I mean right?! If I was to do OMAD just like that, with no previous getting used to IF I would fail miserably after two days. I'm doing it currently but it took me almost a year of gradually changing and adjusting my eating habits from 16:8 to 18:6 and 20:4 to get to the point where I feel comfortable with such long periods of fast and dont suffer from side effects. A YEAR. And here she is doing it just like that, I could literally feel my body screaming 😭
Bless you for including your reflections on your emotions and their impact on your hunger. I'm absolutely an emotional eater and it was nice to hear someone verbalize what I've experienced as long as I can remember. Loving your journey and your honesty! Thanks for letting us all in!
I've been doing OMAD for months since the quarantine started but I didn't even know it was some sort of diet. I never liked breakfast so I cut on that and with corona, since I did not exercice much, I was less hungry and substained on one meal a day. I like to have big meals and I have trouble stopping to eat so I feel like it's the perfect "diet" for me. I barely snack but it happens sometimes I just don't blame myself for it. I lost some weight but most importantly, I feel like it's the right way for me to control my food addiction. I recommend you to try it :)
I know right,I love it my husband and I have been doing OMAD for a few years now. We have lost a substantial amount of weight. But I have rheumatoid arthritis and its gotten soooo much better. No meds for me 😁
@@jessie9653 Years wow ! I'm happy that it helps your arthritis, I feel like modern society has imposed to us the 3/4 meals a day. I'm a recovering food addict + bulimic and cutting from 3 to 2 meals and then to 1 really helps me control it, I don't feel like binging/snacking as much as I did before. Your message motivates me to keep going :D
Last year I was doing omad and it helped me with my appetite. Back then I was subscribed to a 1200 kcal delivery service and I ate the meals they gave me in one sitting. I cancelled my subscription after a couple of months because I noticed I can barely finish all the food in my eating window, which means I was wasting money. By the time I quit omad I can only handle around 700-800 kcal per meal the most if it's not junk lol
CJ Plick haha I get that sometimes, when I can’t finish my meal I leave it in the fridge for later or remplace the calories I didn’t have with something else. I’m a big eater so doesn’t happen a lot though lol
I only use OMAD when I'm trying to break through a plateau that has existed for more than 4 weeks. I use it more of a tool to remind my body I need to lose weight. Love your videos. They encourages me on my journey.
Stephanie Reibold that’s great! I have heard stories of it helping some women (especially if they have insulin resistance or PCOS). However, the research I did shows that for many women it can cause a whole host of hormonal problems, mainly due to GnRH pulses being disrupted. This can be as minor as a delayed period or as severe as early menopause. The reaction varies from person to person, but the negatives far outweighed the benefits for me since I want to try to have children in the next year. Another main issue is just not getting enough calories to meet at least your BMR (I thought I was doing well by eating under, but this damages the metabolism in the long-term). I would definitely consider going back on IF once I go through menopause.
@@gruelii3930 There's no reason to be concerned, but there's also no reason to do it if it doesn't work for you. Do what makes you feel good, not what other people are doing.
Just found out I'm pregnant (1st time) so... OMAD would not work for me haha! But still enjoy watching you do challenges. So excited for the 5k! (Gonna walk it because 1st trimester got me soooo tired)
The eyes are the window to the soul, the stomach is the mirror of emotion. Your emotional mood can affect appetite, and your diet can affect your emotions. That's why when you are hungry you lean towards negative emotions, and how comfort food can brighten your spirits. If you are having severe cravings it could be possible deficiencies in your single meals, make sure you are supplementing and taking proper vitamins.
Ive been doing intermidate fasting then i started adding ice cream every day for a couplof weeks. So I called a halt. I did a 85 hour fast. It wasnt to hard because i had done intermidate fasting for quite while.anyway. ive been cooking. I broke the fast with a wonderful rib eye steak and sweet potato. Next day Eggs bacon ezekial avacdo tst then i mave veg beef soup. Ive been watching weight watchrrs all day on you tube. I did im board.
My hunger correlates with my emotions too. Everything is a comfort food. If I’m doing good my diet goes smooth. If not.... hello to a family pack of Oreos 🥴
I am a recovering binge eater myself, and I'm also on a journey to lose 100 pounds. Firstly, its really nice to know that I am not alone, and secondly OMAD has also really helped me realize my hunger cues are all messed up as well. Its also been crazy helpful for me in the long run. Good on you for trying something new to improve your health!
This was so relateable!! When I started my weight loss journey, I learned the difference between "head hunger" and physical hunger. You are making so much progress! There is so much more to weight loss and dieting than the scale moving. It is a mental journey and you are hitting every single one of those mental obstacles! Overall this challenge I'd say was a huge success because of what it is teaching you.
I love that you try both "food" challenges and "exercise" challenges. Personally I find myself only focusing on one each week. If I try to focus on both I get way too stressed and find myself obsessing about everything.
“I don’t really know when I’m hungry; I can’t tell” Sameeee 😩 I’m working on learning on how to identify the difference between hunger and boredom or hunger and sadness. Watching your process has been so uplifting and helpful for me!
Try drinking a glass of water when you're not sure! I'm really bad with telling when I'm hungry and usually I'm just dehydrated. Right after drinking the water I'll feel really full!
I ask myself, “does steamed broccoli and plain chicken breast sound delicious right now?” If the answer is yes, then I will eat. If it doesn’t sound yummy, I don’t. It is really helping to tune myself into my actual hunger.
Your eye liner and eyebrows were soooo pretty, particularly during the scenes where you were wearing the Bob Ross t-shirt. Love your candor and quirkyness! (If that’s even a word.)
Nobody: Bea: "Ordering that second drink to go with your second sandwich because you don't want your barista to feel your shame" YES GIRL! Been there, done that!
“Get you a girl that can do both”. 😂😂 I just love all your little comments. You are so sweet and funny!! I love your videos. Definitely my favorites to look forward to during the week!
I used to overeat and it made me borderline obese for years. I finally decided to see if I knew the difference between really hungry and just really wanting to eat. I fasted and waited until my stomach would growl to see how long it would take before I got a real, definite signal from my body that I was hungry, and not an emotional one... It took 36 hours. (So many years of overeating I’m not surprised). Definitely important not to eat just because the family is, or just because it’s lunchtime, etc. when you know you’re an overeater.
I just have to say - I love the community you’re building here Bea! So many of us are on the same journey trying to get physically and mentally healthy and you’re giving us a place to feel safe in being who we are; ranting about bad days, celebrating good days and supporting each other. No competing, no shame, just women supporting women. Love it.
I've done OMAD several times, and it's my favorite. It allows me to indulge in foods I really love that I'd otherwise not be able to enjoy. It also allows me to stay focused on my job and other things during the day instead of thinking about what to cook. And it got rid of the mental fog during the early afternoon. But I can understand how it's not for everyone, and that's fine. You have to find what works for you.
Me too i love omad because i feel like I'm not restricted. I don't really restrict anything but i avoid eating too much carbs and go to the gym 3-4 times a week. I put no pressure on myself I'm not in s hurry i have icecream if i want to by having a smaller servings. Went from 189 to 167 in 2 months. I'm not stressed or starved now it's just the way i eat lol
100% YESS 🙌🏾 🙌🏾 to the mom's spaghetti mini cover! 😂 That just made my entire night. I love your personality so much and I can't get enough of your videos. Keep them coming girl! 🧡🧡🧡
Ive been mostly OMAD for around 2 years now. I think it helps when you eat a high fat, low carb diet. I eat keto, so the high fat meals help keep me satiated longer and allow me to hit my macros. Don't think OMAD really works for any other way of eating. Like you would have to eat A LOT if you ATE low fat, high protein or high carb. And it's definitely beneficial for me as I only have to worry about one meal a day. Prior, I was a compulsive overeater, would eat all day, every day. Carbs would kickstart a binge. But by doing OMAD, I basically get to binge once a day. And that works for me. Definitely not food focused anymore. Now I am at the point where food is fuel. I eat it because I need to. Sometimes, if I'm feeling really lazy, I turn it into a 2-3 day fast.
Agreed, OMAD is much easier if you are eating low carb! I have been eating OMAD for 3 weeks now. I eat a huge salad with meat and homemade salad dressing that has plenty of fat in it. Check out Eat Like A Bear! I feel so much better!
It's weird I'm commenting before watching the video...I have gravitated toward one meal a day my entire life. Yes, I've tried to do all the things and everything, six small meals, three meals, intermittent fasting, etc. The main issue I always had and still do, is any time I EVER eat breakfast I feel like garbage. Which is a huge issue in the health/weight loss narrative. So, I am 40 years old as of 9/11. I was overweight or obese from a very young age until I was in my early twenties. I had dieted and tried all of the things since middle school. This is just me, and I am not recommending it to anyone, it is just my personal experience. I do the opposite of what anyone tells anyone to do, lol. I eat-you guessed it-one meal a day. And I eat it at night because it's always been the only time I'm hungry. IF for some reason, maybe hormonal or whatever, I get hungry, of course I'll eat. But it RARELY happens. Also, the meal I eat is very large and nutritionally complete and I eat it slowly and enjoy it. After everything I ever tried that was suggested, this is where my natural way of eating fell into place. I didn't even know there was an OMAD diet at all.
Jenn Righter wow, I usually don’t comment on someone else’s comment, let alone someone’s video, but your comment is awe-inspiring. Thanks for sharing your experience. Gave me something to think about.
xo.JASAMI it’s just my experience and I’ve been this way my entire life. So if anyone tries this and they feel hungry, tired, lightheaded or anything like that, then it’s not for them. It’s the way I feel good personally. I don’t want anyone to try this and feel bad 😞
My boyfriend of six years has always found it really weird. He is in great shape. He feels best eating throughout the day and eats within an hour of waking up. So he would not do well whereas this is how I feel best.
Jenn Righter yes, I definitely understand that. I definitely have tried many diets/lifestyles and only one really and truly worked for me (keto). We all have different bodies and what may work for one, may not work for the next! I just like seeing other people’s experience and their willingness to share it with others.
Heyyy we have the same birthday I turned 21 lol. I was recently diagnosed with UC and had to stop being vegan after being vegan for the majority of my life (because I dont like meat) and I've been really struggling with the diet change because for me it's just been a roller coaster of weight gain/unbearable pain and nausea and all types of emotions and I feel mostly physically okay at night and that's when I have to shove it all in my family thinks its weird (they also dont believe in invisible illnesses but that's a whole other rant) so it's really cool seeing other people who actually prefer to eat this way not just in a "diet" context
I've been doing intermittent fasting for 20 hours per day for the past 4 weeks and while it isn't quite OMAD, I totally get the need for that meal to be amazing. Congrats on the progress!
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen (I then went and watched a few more but wanted to come back to this one to comment) and I’m so thankful. I have PCOS, I’m severely overweight and my mental health is down the drain but seeing your positivity (but also some of the lows of your other videos) has given me the push to want to try again. Hopefully I stick to it 🤞🏻 So thanks

Hey Bea, hope you're having a great week!! I love doing OMAD. it really sparked my weight-loss and made me appreciate my meal even more! Edit: before I even knew what omad was i was only eating dinner anyways. With my work schedule and how strict my job was on lunch time I would just drink water until I got home at 6:30pm lol

Hi I know this may come off as sarcastic (hopefully not) 💚 but I'm so serious. Lol what I heard that helps tell us when we are hungry is when your stomach growls.... I try to do this but lol my fluffy self eat too often to even let my stomach get to growl. However, This usually works though when you are fasting though or doing IF. You get the signs of hunger Ok ttyl I hope this helps. Take care.
Legitimately just fell in love with your personality! I am completely of the mind set to find what works for you. Everyone’s body is different. Keep rocking it!!
I've been on omad for 7 months now and have gone from 106 kgs - 93kgs. It definitely sounds hard but once you get use to it it just becomes the norm, I even have a cheat day even now and then.

❤️ Fasting with OMAD! You get to eat all your calories in one sitting than planning it for entire day - as if eating is your only job! More power to you, Beatrice!
Are you a mind reader? Cause I just started omad 3 days ago and only the other day I was thinking, “I wish beatrice would drop a video on omad rn.” Really needed this 🥺💙
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 Oh boy...I could never eat OMAD 😩 Just doesn’t seem sustainable to me, but everyone is different. But I agree with you.... you don’t know what works for you unless you give things a try! Lol I’ve cut myself with knives so many times, I’m surprised I still have fingers 😁 And YES I was just thinking the same thing about having a job where I sit at a computer all day, and then afterwards i sit at a computer editing videos lol That’s great you lost almost 3 pounds in a week! 👍 Lol love the Eminem 😂
I actually recovered from my binge-type eating disorder by eating whole foods, doing OMAD, and getting enough sleep every night. It helps me to know I can eat as much as I want in my OMAD and that keeps me from feeling deprived. And I also meal prep a week ahead of time though to remove the food-focus issue. I keep 'em all in the freezer and thaw my food out the night before.
I just absolutely adore you! Thank you for your honesty, silly/goofyness, singing randomness, and all the above. It seriously brings me so much joy in my life!

I have been doing OMAD for about 8 months most days, down 75 lbs. also do a paleo/Leto diet when I do eat
Did you eat whatever you wanted in that hour?
maeva dim no, I eat free range protein and vegetables and some dairy Paleo keto
OMAD is great with paleo/keto diets.
I like the fact that you are trying different things and you are not afraid to jump right in. You are an inspiration.

BEA 👏🏻 YOU’RE 👏🏻 SO 👏🏻RELATABLE!👏🏻
The ordering multiple sandwiches and drinks to make it look like you’re ordering for more than yourself but then you eat all of the things. That was also me.
Your journey is still inspiring! I’ve been on my weight loss journey since the beginning of quarantine and so far I’ve lost 25 lbs! Something I thought was impossible. Thanks for another upload! ❤️
Ps this episode is hilarious 😆
I’m so glad this is here & I’m not alone ordering for “us” and “we would like”.
Congrats on your success so far!
@@kaylajames7820 thank you!
the other day I ordered two pizzas because the pizza place had a diet coke special price and i got four and i didn't want them to think they were all for me (they were) so then i ate pizza for to days
And I have to cook every day for kids and family so how can I resist 😥
This is how I was able to lose weight. Being at work kept me on schedule. When I started working from home messed it all up 😭
Bea it DOES come in waves!
Thank you for this recommendation; I’m going to check it out. 😊
When i do omad i let myself eat at my pace and it usually exceeds an hour. And also my motto is, oh i can eat that tomorrow. So i feel definitely calmer around food, because nothing is a strict no and you let your body tell you what it wants. But this works when I’m able to manage my stress levels.
It can take me longer than an hour to eat too. Putting less stress on ourselves is key!!
Me: man she’s gonna hurt herself with that crazy knife style.
* two seconds later *
Oh. Oh no.
This. Was. Me.
Same! I was watching those knife moved with one eye open and then... 😩
I'm going to try this...thanks for the suggestion!
I had the same thoughts, OMAD is something you work up to. I prefer early feeding 2MAD but there are days it's just the one meal
I agree. You've got to ease into OMAD or you're going to feel hungry.
Been OMAD for a year and I can't imagine jumping into it like this! It really has to be eased into or you set yourself up failure.
That sounds more reasonable. IF/OMAD for too long can potentially mess up a woman’s hormones.
Leah Banks Intermittent Fasting resolved my hormone issues.
I would definitely consider going back on IF once I go through menopause.
this is such a good strategy. if i do omad for too many consecutive days i start feeling ill. idk if i should be concerned lol.

It’s the universal ‘we’ because it includes all that are watching.
Yup
Always love watching you thriving and vibing doesn’t matter what you’re doing. Just love your personality!

Living for the “for a week” challenges! 😍
I love that you try both "food" challenges and "exercise" challenges. Personally I find myself only focusing on one each week. If I try to focus on both I get way too stressed and find myself obsessing about everything.
I have been stressing about things like this on and off my whole life. I find myself obsessing over these things way too much
I'm here for the recipe whenever you want to upload it!
“I don’t really know when I’m hungry; I can’t tell” Sameeee 😩
I’m working on learning on how to identify the difference between hunger and boredom or hunger and sadness. Watching your process has been so uplifting and helpful for me!
Try drinking a glass of water when you're not sure! I'm really bad with telling when I'm hungry and usually I'm just dehydrated. Right after drinking the water I'll feel really full!
Chew on celery or carrot.
If you're hungry, it'll taste great
i just go by whether or not my stomach growls and then i'll eat
I ask myself, “does steamed broccoli and plain chicken breast sound delicious right now?” If the answer is yes, then I will eat. If it doesn’t sound yummy, I don’t. It is really helping to tune myself into my actual hunger.

No competing, no shame, just women supporting women. Love it.
Oh, I feel the same way too. You said it beautifully so I'll just thumbs it up and say ditto!

I spend almost hte entirety of watching your videos SCREAMING gleefully. Love you so much, girl! I'd watch your cooking show all day, every day.

You get the signs of hunger
Ok ttyl I hope this helps.
Take care.

I mostly did OMAD for a year in high school (March to November)
I went from 80kg (170lb?) to 55kg (~120lb)
I actually recovered from my binge-type eating disorder by eating whole foods, doing OMAD, and getting enough sleep every night. It helps me to know I can eat as much as I want in my OMAD and that keeps me from feeling deprived. And I also meal prep a week ahead of time though to remove the food-focus issue. I keep 'em all in the freezer and thaw my food out the night before.
