@Pitstop Head oohh... like you find someone's pet in a sci-animal carrier/stasis pod in one of the crashed ships and have to release it cause the power module is broken. And thus you get a pet. Lol. My bff wants multiplayer but I really don't think the game needs it atm.
I hate games that are so typical with hostile enemies and things I have to constantly fight. If that's the point of the game, then great, but adding it to something awesome like this, would just suck.
This! I have other games that I enjoy where there are mobs or fighting. A game without them that is still compelling to continue is so awesome. I used to hate "fishing" in games until I understood the value of just finding a few Zen moments.
Tip 21: If you're running low on oxygen, and you're far from your main base, make sure you've got enough iron and titanium to build a simple base cube and door. Your oxygen supply is restored when you enter a base (one that you've constructed or your original pod, that is. Your oxygen levels won't be restored by entering shipwrecks or abandoned bases).
@@patmalloy3569 No they haven't. You need to build a door too. 3 iron, 2 titanium and a silicon. I fact, I carry this in place of oxygen bottles. drop it, go inside fill up the O2 and deconstruct it and keep going I only use O2 bottles if I'm going to explore a wreck
Tip 21 .. if you see something sticking out of the ground dont ignore it ! its an underground base and underground bases have some cool stuff in them .. if you can find them
move golden seeds to flower spreaders for a better return. You cannot put chests/lockers directly on the ground outside but you can build a basic iron platform and put them on that. Saves using materials on a hut.
For 2nd tip, I would say that it is better to build single square base, so you renew your O2 and also build a container in.. no need to go back and forward to collect resources
Add I travel and explore, I place single block buildings in far away or important areas (mineral caves usually) and put a beacon on them and toss in a small crafter. They are nice to pop into to refill your oxygen for free and get out of meteor storms during your visits.
I am inlove with this game! im currently on relaxing mode playying for 6+ hours since i bought it, and its really chill to play and my potato laptop can run it. i like the subnautica vibes and that there aren't any hostile creatures, and i could just focus on food, water, and gathering materials. There's a recent update with bugs and stuff but I am glad I purchased it now to wait for more possible fauna updates :D
It's great that you don't have to worry about combat. It's just about exploration, mining and building. The story comes later. And it is a great story. This is much more than the 30 hours of a a AAA game. There doesn't appear to be any time constraints, or penalties. This is planet crafting after all. Any story narratives don't seem to have to be completed as a priority. Which gives you priority to focus on the basics. Food. Water. Mining. It allows you to build your base, set up mining infrastructures, with ought worrying about progression goals. It's a steady game, at your own pace, without penalties. Which I like :)
This game is really awesome so far. If they improve some stuff and keep adding more every now and then I will definitely continue to play. Before buying it I've spent over 10 hours in the free demo😂 I do hope that they add a coop mode somewhere in the future. After reaching everything I would love to replay it with one or two friends/youtubers after giving it a couple months break.
started playing last night and im already hooked! its like subnautica, minus the thalassophobia, the horrors of the depths, and the tedious search for blueprint parts. dont get me wrong i love subnautica, but PC doesnt put much stress on my sphincter XD
Hey man great video.. I had originally put in 15 hours and got kinda overwhelmed.. I'm looking to get back into it and I really appreciated this video. Cheers.
This game is very subnautica-esque without the scary wildlife lol, however I would like some fauna thats peaceful and you raise as part of making the planet habitable. Maybe you find fossils and bring them back to life. Its such a calming game though, Ive made good progress on my first playthrough but definetly gonna start a new one to habe a bettwr base layout as Im just kinda throwing things together atm lol
Thanks for the tips! This looks like a great game, and I definitely plan to get it. But right now, I've just got so many _other_ games to play, so... I'll just have to see how long I can resist. (Also, at my age, I have back problems which make it difficult to play 'real-time' games for long.) However, please tell me that you can eventually build a buggy in order to _drive_ around the planet, exploring. Now _that_ I would love! In fact, I'm not sure how much I'd even need the rest of the game with that. Heh, heh. (Admittedly, it would be neat to drive around early in the game, then go back later, to see how much had changed.) Thanks again for the video!
Thank you for such an informative video on the tips. I have reviewed it a few times to guide me into more fun with exploration and you're video has been invaluable for my first time out in this game. Again, Thank YOU for what YOU do.
hehe ive paused at tip 1, "when you first crash land" as i know whats coming, i just spent a ton of time frantically moving my main base to a higher ground lol
When i played the demo, i got a message which is probably story related which told me that it's better to build a base in altitude. I ignored it at first because i didn't really knew what the message meant with that. But after a while i realized why i should build higher up instead of close to the lifepod. I then started building at the highest point i could find close to that valley and put every single item i had into there. I expanded it a bit and then i started to notice a few ponds of water. It wasn't much, but it was a bit scary, since i didn't know how high the waters will go. It became more and more and eventually it got at around 80% of the stage so close that it was almost reaching a few outside constructions. Now that the water stopped, it kinda looks like i'm on an island throught the front door, but the water only got very close to my base and it's still untouched. Speaking about my base, i actually wanted to build a second one soon, i'll probably build it a bit far away so i have one close to the stuff which is normally far away. Well, if i'm already speaking about something else, there's been weird green-purple meteor showers with a giant light in the sky recently, i wonder if it's just a special color or if theres something else which i don't know about yet.
The green purple meteor showers are dropping superalloy. You can try to gather some while the shower is falling, but make sure you have food with you. YOU will take damage if you get hit w a meteorite, even if the base doesn't. The superalloy nodes disappear VERY fast after the shower is over. I'm usually lucky if I get 5-8 of them unless I'm trying to get them during the storm My very first playthrough I started in the same spot as in the video. I built pretty expansively there. And then I got that message about building at altitude. The message ends with "it helps to build your base on high ground but I don't know why" And I went to myself "well, obviously because the lower areas will fill in with water. .....OH...... I wound up trucking everything to near the warp gate. (which was quite the task at the time) not realizing that that would be really high above the final water table.
Best crafting survival game ive ever played , i got the game yesterday and i couldn't tare myself away for 10 hours , damn i loved every minute of it. And you can play eith friends, whsts not to love , fantastic game , fantastic fun , Love it !
I have my save from when it was first released and have proof the landing place used to be random. In my first game my pod landed just outside of the aluminum fields.
Here's a tip I just found out for myself. When going to a remote location like a crashed ship and if you worry about your oxygen, bring enough materials to build a habitat and a door. A habitat generates oxygen automatically by itself, so you can just pop it down wherever you like and you'll get your oxygen replenished. I put one down by the first shipwreck you go to, so I can explore it in peace.
Minerals/lockers! So simple it's genius really, never even crossed my mind. I just cram random stuff away to make room to hoard more. Starting out I'd upgrade everything available, pack some O2's, went as far as I could, built a 'hoarder hut' if you will, rinse and repeat until I went full circle to 'base'. Built turbines in between relay huts, kinda like a GPS line all the way around. Of course that's before I unlocked Beacons but, for me it was easier to navigate at first. Thanks for the tips man! 🫡
I just got into this and this video helped thank you. Is there a certain amount of heaters and drills and power to put down. So I can speed things up. I know this is an old video, but I am really getting into this game.
I just started this game and am at the point of my base by the capsule is starting to flood. LOL. So now I have to move everything up the hill. It's a grind but I'll jam to some Rush 2112 and chill. One last thing I'd like to say is this game is beautiful. The graphics are outstanding. I have a GeForce RTX 3070 and WOW. I really love the look of this game.
been playing for hours, got so much done and my base to a good point of expanding further and Tip 1 just threw me into complete panic as im at 80% or so until the water comes. ):
I love how peaceful it is. But I do panic sometimes when I see something in the corner of my eye and I have a few seconds thinking I’m gonna get attacked haha to much subnautica haha
theres 5 basic minerals iron cobalt magnesium silicon and titanium ... theres aluminium iridium and sulfur as mid range ore then you have uranium zeolite osmium and super alloy for higher end ores oh and the ores do not respawn you have to use the extractors
I build my base close to the pod and when I got to liquid water I realized but that area is going to be under water.....so managed to move my base just in time...lol. Now I just need to figure out how to get insects.
No, no, no! 1. Yes, you need to get out of the lake valley, but it takes a long time before it floods. Throw up a few windmills and drills next to your pod, before even considering building a base anywhere. This starts the terraforming process. This gets you better O2 tanks and larger backpacks much sooner. And by the time the water rises, you don't really need the windmills and T1 drills anyway. They're obsolete, and you probably have enough materials, anyhow. 2. Yes, bring an O2 bottle, a water bottle and food, but just one of each. You bring 3Iron, 2Titanium and 1Silicon to build a small shelter. Always put down a shelter outside shipwrecks, abandoned bases and caves. 12. The 'lost' chest is there even on slopes, it's just that it spawned underground. It can be recovered by editing the savefile. There's a limit to how much food you can find in chests and wrecks. You must eventually build a 'Food grower', and that is unlocked by reaching a specific O2 level. Don't focus on O2 production! A single Vegetube T1 with the LIRMA seed(100%) needs 22Hours to reach that level. A single T1 Heater will unlock the Vegetube T2 in 40 minutes. And the Vegetube T2 can produce enough O2 to unlock the Food Grower in 2 hours and change, even with just the LIRMA seed. The shipwreck on the hillside has heaters that can be deconstructed, and a Golden chest which contains a Golden seed(600%), Get up there and you can have food production in less than 2Hours. 18. Forget the bl**dy beacons. Place Windmills along your path, and wherever you put down a shelter, place a windmill on top of it to make it even more visible. Bonus is that they produce power.
I appreciate the video, but why does the screen look horrible every time you move? Please tell me that is from the recording software and not what I have to look at in game...
I just bought this game about a week ago and knowing full well to build on high ground I built next to the escape pod on purpose so I could watch everything I made be taken away by the waters and moved everything far north to the desert now I have a real base its sweet and I like this game
Why is your video pixilating randomly? Is it your computer or the recording software? Also, it looks like you missed out on building the larger oxygen tank, you can build it from the advanced build table.
These aren't BEGINNER tips at all \o/ if your base is fully developed as it is in the very first screen, this is not for beginners. This kind of thing drives me bananas. I want to see a "we are just starting the game" BEGINNER video, thanks :)
This game is so zen. I love how the devs don't want to put hostile mobs, you can just craft and survive and explore.
Agreed. They could just put friendly creatures in though that you nurture :-)
@Pitstop Head oohh... like you find someone's pet in a sci-animal carrier/stasis pod in one of the crashed ships and have to release it cause the power module is broken. And thus you get a pet. Lol. My bff wants multiplayer but I really don't think the game needs it atm.

Tip #?: Hold CTRL and click an item, like iron. It will transfer all iron in that chest or on your person to a chest.
That's amazing. Thankyou so much.
This tip was miles better than anything mentioned in the video. Thank you so much.
Tip 21: If you're running low on oxygen, and you're far from your main base, make sure you've got enough iron and titanium to build a simple base cube and door. At 1:50, yeah, in other words, outposts. I agree with that.
What I do is just carry them around after I regen oxygen I dismantle and carry them along
13:33 you forget to point out the most important things to find in the ships: Chips to unlock new blue prints
I've put about 4 hours into this game. And it's so much fun. Highly recommend

I do this too

Thanks for watching!
No, no, no!
And the Vegetube T2 can produce enough O2 to unlock the Food Grower in 2 hours and change, even with just the LIRMA seed.

the rocket launch platform is possibly the most important building in the game
