Love love love this game!!! Been trying to remember what it was called since playing it at yours years ago!!! Then came across your channel...which is bloody brilliant by the way!
Dixit has been my favorite game for many years, my copy is the very same one in your video! Of course I have all of the expansions (and I really do keep them in their respective boxes, haha). Had no idea Odyssey was about making it possible to play with more players, I will have to look into that, thanks for the tip!
I bought the second edition(?) it comes with a separate board for scoring and has a nice insert that can fit 4 expansions. I enjoyed this video! I like to see how games age. Dixit is a great game, was one of my first ones and still holds a place on my shelf.
@@BoardGameBollocks That's pretty rare. What made you study it in the first place? Was it part of your degree or main reason you were there or was it as a side subject or hobby?
It was combined honours with Film. Dropped it for cultural studies and ended up staying on to do an MA. To this day I have no idea why I thought studying Japanese was a good idea.
I love Dixit but I agree, I always have a negative experience playing it because there’s always two or three people who hate the abstract idea of the game and insist on playing something different. It’s extremely love it or hate it. Especially since most board game players tend to be more logical thinkers
Definitely agree that's it dependent on who you play with but always have a laugh with this game. Odyssey holds three sets of cards but not enough if you own more ha ha. Keep banging out the reviews, they are entertaining.
Brilliant game, will never leave my collection. I will have to say that I like the art style from the first game the most, not a fan of the digital and crisp expansions that came up later, they do not leave much space for imagination, or they point you in one direction, that's not what Dixit is all about. The discussion and the laughter after the reveal and why someone picked that card for that situation is were the fun lays, at least for me. Also I don't like that around 50% of the cards from all expansions combined pop out while laying on the table to be examined due to the different art style. I just leave them out, still plenty of cards to have fun with.
@@BoardGameBollocks it's a mix between Dixit and "Petits meutres et faits divers" (sorry I don't know the English name, but you can check on BGG for a description). It forces people to explain why they chose their cards, so unlike Dixit, you don't ride of a card because you don't like it and screw the game of the narrator :)

Solid review and summary. I think I'll play this with the family after dinner tonight.
Can you recommend any expansions?
All of them! 👍
Board game reviews Guy Ritchie style! love the channel name 🤣
Thanks! I'm in English teacher in Japan and I think this particular game would be good for my higher ability students.
I studied Japanese at Uni for about 2 months before I realised I wasn’t cut out for it...strange but true.

Oh by the way, I see Dungeon Petz on your shelf, should love to see a video on it and how it has held up over time.
I’ve got a few days off so I’ll get it done. We have a live Playthrough of it in the playlists somewhere.
I preferred Detective Club and never play Dixit now. And you can use Dixit cards for DC.
Not played that one. Look interesting though.
