22 years ago I had the greatest honor and pleasure to spend 2 days at Road Atlanta. My wife gave me the Porsche Driving Experience. Hurley was my instructor for those 2 days. I asked Hurley if he was wearing one of his Daytonas. He said no. He then showed me the Yachmaster. What a terrific gentleman and legend.
Hurley is not only a great race car driver, and a great ambassador for two amazing brands, but he’s also a great human! Thank you Hodinkee for telling a great story.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Hurley at Goodwood Festival of Speed over the years. Great racer, amazing anecdotes and wonderful connection between watches and cars. Bravo!
A genuine American treasure. As good as he was on the track, and he was one of the very best, he’s an even better person off the track. Meet him long ago at Brumos in Jacksonville. The legend Hurley Haywood, I salute you sir.
Having watches gifted to you by Rolex, and engraved on the back by Rolex in honor of that is so unbelievable. Really special stuff here. Excellent video.
James, made my week for sure! Hurley is such a hero of mine. Your kind and thoughtful interview style, as with your Moki Martin video, allows the subject to tell their story and reveal their humanity. Thank you!!
Crazy, the way Hurley describes entering the track at Daytona for the first time and the first few laps is exactly my first impressions when I first raced there in a Porsche 935 Kremer K3.
this goes onto my list of episodes to revisit every now & then! this is the perfect modern talking watches, carrying the charm of the iconic early episodes, with the high quality and cinematic excerpts funded by the today budget. and great interviewer
Rolex seeks this guy. Even if its "another box of Rolexes".. this man has achieved them. He had a good relationship with the former chairman of Rolex (which many people could only dream of), the watches were thoughtful gifts for his accomplishments... Hard work and passion. So its funny how some people without any sense of " Watch and Story" would just dismiss these timepieces as something like a blurr among the other comments below.. Like they've achieved something.. ... From a box of stuff -- The Devil wears Rolex
One of my favourites of more recent Talking Watches episodes. What an amazing collection with rich stories behind each piece. Love stories from those who have had such a long and deep relationship with Rolex. Friends of Rolex has been around for quite some time and I am sure there are many unique stores behind each collector
This is the best talking watches episode I have seen in a long time! Loved it. Very jealous of that Rolex relationship, maybe I need to starting racing at Daytona xD
after a long time HODINKEE has come up with a talking watches episode for which we all started following HODINKEE for, hope to keep up the streak and do not lose it originality for fame
There is a great contrast in Jamses videos. Hes portrays every casio or any watch enthusiast and yet hes talking to some grates that add value to the rolexes that they put on their wrists. Thats whats so charming, meeting at a common ground
There is a great contrast in Jamses videos. He portrays every true watch enthusiast, whether its casio or rolex. All the pieces he presents are always just a shadow of something much more meaningful
Best piece from hodinkee in a little while. Love the story integration and the video clips to add depth. Keep this up! Also, should James Stacey be the new face of Hodinkee, or is that just a crazy thought?
ok, episode is great but im missing collectors that have gshock squares, seikos, citizens etc…this rolex, AP, patek wheel has become not so interesting for me
Okay now we’re talking, HODINKEE. More of this please. Excellent quality, storytelling, beautifully executed. And can’t go wrong with James!!
Hurley is one of the nicest people in racing. I met him at Barber Motorsports during a fundraising event. Truly an honor!

One of the best episodes of talking watches right there. Amazing guest. What a story and achievements! And James is the perfect host
Hurley is an amazing human, race car driver and Rolex ambassador. You could not find a more of a unique gentleman than him. Truly a living legend.
Wow, what a breath of fresh air from Hodinkee. It's been far to long.
I met Hurley in the 70s at 24HOD. Super nice guy and down to earth. Legend in the Racing World...

Incredible video. Again, James shows us why he is such a huge asset to Hodinkee. TGN Slack Crew!

Mr Stacey. Epitome of class, style and humility.
Crazy, the way Hurley describes entering the track at Daytona for the first time and the first few laps is exactly my first impressions when I first raced there in a Porsche 935 Kremer K3.
Finally a great episode again! Would love to see more of James
On most Hodinkee videos people comment ‘This is what we want, more of this! It sounds like Hodinkee is giving their audience what they want

Incredible person, incredible storytelling. It was really a treat to watch. Thank you to the friends at Hodinkee.
That gold datejust is stunning.
Couple of lads right there
Love, love, this! I really believe that Rolex isn't bought but earned. He really deserved all of it, including the Timex!

Great episode. Love the personal connection to these, not just ticking boxes in a collection

Awesome, nothing but respect!
This is the best talking watches episode I have seen in a long time! Loved it. Very jealous of that Rolex relationship, maybe I need to starting racing at Daytona xD
Pretty cool to get so many of these as gifts from the brand. Rolex does an amazing job aligning themselves with legends.

found myself getting emotional watching this, what a lovely story and celebration of lifes achievements
Absolutely fantastic!
Wow what a cool guy. Also love seeing an air king on the table
Beautiful episode, so much history and depth into every piece. What an interesting and remarkable gentleman.
There is a great contrast in Jamses videos. Hes portrays every casio or any watch enthusiast and yet hes talking to some grates that add value to the rolexes that they put on their wrists. Thats whats so charming, meeting at a common ground
This was great, what a legend!
One of the better talking watched episodes
Man awesome episode. Thank you

Fantastic, guys! Thanks for bring this to us.

Woah. Filmed literally 15 mins from me that’s awesome. Great episode!!!
That was awesome...nice work!
Best episode in a very long time
What a cool video from hodinkee!
Met and drove with Hurley at the C5 Corvette introduction, classy and intelligent human being.
Superb video
“Did he just say husband?” Cal Naughton Jr
Yes, read his book.
He’s openly gay
Best piece from hodinkee in a little while. Love the story integration and the video clips to add depth. Keep this up! Also, should James Stacey be the new face of Hodinkee, or is that just a crazy thought?
Incredible ❤
Pure class.
Loved the episode. Seems like a great person.
Great episode!
What an excellent video! Great work!
Fantastic.
Yes! Such a legend. Can we get a tom kristensen episode? Keeping with rolex and sportscars theme
Great interview.
The LEGEND!!
What do I need to do to have Rolex give me Rolexes with the back engraved 'Your Friends At Rolex'? Would be a flex today for sure.😂
What do you have to do? Drive like your rear end is on fire......
Legend
@hodinkee You need an episode with the race car driver Scott Pruett. Probably the largest collection of competition won Rolex Daytona watches.
Ending it with a watch pun. Classic.
Now for the car collection
Would have been cool if he still had that Timex Ironman in that collection
Well at least I know there’s another way for me to get a Daytona. Become a race car driver and win one 😂
ok, episode is great but im missing collectors that have gshock squares, seikos, citizens etc…this rolex, AP, patek wheel has become not so interesting for me
I need Roland as a friend
you can't get much better than an engraved Rolex, khanjar engravings are cool but these are a whole different level.
Love Porsche Love Rolex
3:00 I love how he wears that DateJust, so sloppy and loose!
I'm easy. Put James in a video and I'm there.
man mostly his rolexes were just given by rolex crazy lucky
Please Do Sir Jackie Stewart
He had a direct phone line to Rolex for free watches.
he got "con" to get at TT instead of steel:)
Not gonna sell any watches under my watch
👁️👁️
Great job from Rolex creating there own legacy through legends
L e g e n d
Must be nice to have a bunch of amazing Rolex's and not having to pay for any of them.
More TWatches like these, less rappers and fake celebs
White Datejust not OP
Rolex. Yawn.
Earned; not bought!
Another Rolex's collector. Again and again !!
Yet he wears that watch like a bracelet…..shame
This rolex, that rolex blablabla. Boring
Interesting story, but just another plain old collector with a box of Rolexes lol
But I’m pretty sure your next generation will sell them at bid auction house once you have gone to meet your creator, in future.
Another Rolex collection *yawn
Pure class.
