    wow back in 2012 I was still a teenager and I found a machine like this in my family's garage. I tried assembling it and it was missing parts! I think I gave up, but this really brought me back to that time. Makes me want to get a new one and start working on projects. Thank you for posting! Your instructions are super clear :)

    For finding the stitch to rehang for the waistband, could you have used ravel cord laid across that row (so you knio both the regular yarn and the cord) so you could see it easier? Then you could pull it out when you were done?

      Hi! If you’re able to get the gauge you can use the pattern! I’m guessing there’s fewer needles on the bond so some of the larger sizes may not work, but other than that it should.

    Lauren, thank you so much for doing these tutorials. I love using DK or sports yarn. After I calculate new gauge, number of cast on stitches would change but how to do correct adjusted shaping? Could you do a video on that for hand knitting or machine, which ever easier to explain?

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  3 года назад

      Hi Tanya! I'm so sorry, I'm just seeing this comment now! There is a lot of shaping in the shorts and pants, so I think it could be challenging to recalculate. I have used DK and sport weight yarns though and been able to get the same gauge resulting in a lighter weight fabric. This won't work for all yarns but it's worth a shot!

    will the pattern simply give you the measurements for the sizes, or will it also show you how to get there? (ie calculate the increases etc)
    if not do you have a suggestion for resources that will help in how to calculate those things?

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  3 года назад

      Hi! The pattern has very specific instructions and there are 11 sizes in the pattern. If you're not able to get the gauge however, they would be a challenge to recalculate. Is that what you're asking?

    • @LiveLoveYeye
      @LiveLoveYeye 3 года назад

      @@girlyknits I guess I refer more to the shaping of the curve of the front and back, ie if someone has more shape to the back side would the pattern show how to factor that in and change the increases\shirtrows accordingly?

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  3 года назад

      Hi! I don't think you would need you change it, it accommodates a wide range of bum sizes as is! If anything you could make them longer, but they are already high waisted and longer in the back to accommodate for the bum. I would just make them as is and if needed you could make tweaks but I think you would want to start from there.

    Hello! Thank you for this! I'm a guy and want to knit these on my brother kh840 single bed. How would I need to change the pattern to have a looser fit in the thighs? I want them to fit more like basketball shorts and be slightly longer than the original pattern. Thanks!!

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  4 года назад

      Hi Gregory! That would be so fun! So I currently only have these written for a mid-gauge machine - I'm not sure how men's shorts are shaped, but I'm guessing you would size up, then knit the legs straight without shaping, then insert elastic into the waistband so that they would fit you there. Hope that helps!

      @gregonater834 4 года назад

      @@girlyknits Hello, thanks so much for getting back to me! So I just wouldn't do the decreases on the left side for the left leg and right side for the right leg and so on?

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  4 года назад

      Honestly I'm not sure how men's shorts would be shaped, I'm sorry! I just meant the inseam of the leg would be straight, I think you would still need the shaping I show in the video for the crotch/back side, I'm just not sure if it would be exactly the same as these are intended to be more fitted high waisted shorts.

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  2 года назад +1

      Hi! It's just basic increasing throughout the legs of the pants so not that interesting to show. I demonstrated the shorts because it covers the tricker parts of the pants/shorts which are at the top. If you got the pants pattern you would definitely be able to follow along and use this video if needed!

    Can you make a dress or a square pants out of that knitting machine?

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  4 года назад

      Totally! I have a dress pattern here (more to come 😉) www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dream-on-tank-dress and if you wanted to make the pants wide leg (I think that's what you're asking) you could just omit the shaping!

    • @LiveLoveYeye
      @LiveLoveYeye 3 года назад

      @@girlyknits when you say omit the shaping how do you mean?

    • @girlyknits
      @girlyknits  3 года назад +1

      So the leggings have shaping in them from ankle to thigh - if you wanted a wide leg you could just cast on the amount at the thigh (same cast on as the shorts) and knit the pants straight that way without any shaping. Does that make sense?
