@@smoothie9931 I agree that science has worked out so many things that "we have no freaking idea" probably is a bit strong of a statement, but there are different levels of understanding. Ask a scientist about what came before Big Bang, and most would answer that we don't know, though some might present the theory they personally believe in the most. From what I've gathered about gravity, we do have lots of knowledge about the macro effects of gravity, but at the nuclear level it is difficult. As you can tell I'm absolutely by no means a physicist myself, but I know that there is the so-called "strong force", "weak force", "electromagnetic force", and gravity. The weak and electromagnetic forces have been unified in a single theory, but uniting them further with the strong force poses difficulties, and even quantifying gravity is problematic. Don't ask me to explain any of this further, I don't understand much more myself. All I know is that uniting all four fundamental forces, and thus "explaining" them properly, has not yet been done, if it ever can be done. The result would be a Theory of Everything, the reason for the existence of the radically different approach than the "mainstream" which is called String Theory, and which famously was Stephen Hawking's lifelong quest to achieve. Please, do NOT take this as any form of teaching, I'm simply conveying the elementary knowledge I use on the topic as a fundament for Philosophy.

Well we've had Jamali, Sarah and Mike next week so it's quite likely we'll get Lee and Charlotte too in the last 4 episodes of the series. (Also I was incredibly happy she won one too)
It's a credit to her acting that the Charlotte Ritchie in 'Fresh Meat', the Charlotte Ritchie in 'Ghosts' and the Charlotte Ritchie in 'Taskmaster' seem like completely different, separate people.
Wow, she's an amazing actress. I only knew her from the show, so it's incredible to see how quickly she can bring to reality an "amazed by my answer" or "scared by cameraman" expression (though the face-covering in the latter one was, perhaps, not one of the great artistic moments of our time). There's a big difference between a comedian's "I'm acting amazed!" expression and a professional actor's realisation of actually being amazed
To be fair the gravity question is a rather tricky question. As in it's way more complex as you think it might be and your average person won't be able to answer it correctly.
Ice is pretty cool. You can use it to float, you can make weapons out of it, statues, it'll keep your drink colder than room temperature, its see through in the right conditions, it's just an all around great time. It's not the COLDest thing though.

I made the mistake of watching this with ear buds in and then "ICE" destroyed my eardrums. And the whole reason I put the ear buds in was because the volume seem to be very low at the beginning… 🙉
I liked Charlotte Ritchie before, but since turning into Mike Wozniak when describing gravity, she now has gone from a solid 8/10 to 12/10 for fun funny people to be around. 🙂
She seems like such a lovely person and even though it seems near impossible that she'll win this series I'm glad she's having such a good time doing the show!
I was thrilled when she finally talked back at Greg after he suggested that the pope's outfit isn't a uniform. She's finding her voice in the show, instead of meekly taking Greg's sass.
@@alotofthings22 Yeah that made me so happy! I think she's said in an interview that she got more confident in the second half of the series so she might start standing up for herself a bit more now :D
@@cadhlabracken3402 I kinda feel like Greg was mocking on her a bit too much and gave her some arguably unfair low scores in the first half, till the point that she said in one episode, I don't remember which one, that she lost all her confidence and look almost like crying. After that they didn't mock her as much and she seems to do better as well. She ended up winning 2 episodes, which was impressive considering her performance during early episodes.
I like how they get extra baffled about the gravity question because it's something you'd assume that you heard at some point, but science isn't exactly clear past the fact that it's a natural force proportional to the size of the mass.
If you're interested there are some really nice videos on RUclips that give explanations of gravity using stretched out fabric and metal balls. They explain things like mass and orbits in a nice visual way.
I didn’t see it (probably because she also looks like a woman I once loved), but as soon as I read your comment I couldn’t believe I missed it. She really does.
Fun fact: Gravity doesn’t actually get stronger as you get closer to the center of the earth (once you go underground). The mass of the earth that’s higher than you cancels out and you only feel the force from those parts that are still closer to the center than you. At the very center you’ll feel absolutely no gravity. But you’ll also be dead if you go there so that was a given.
Fun fact we genuinely don't know HOW gravity works we only know what it does. While we have General and Special Relativity to work off of no force carrier particles for gravity have yet been discovered. To us gravity is similar to what a tablet computer is to a toddler, a thing that does things when things are nudged a certain way but the best guess as to how is "well we honestly don't know but this is our best guess". We do know that the closer you get to the center of the earth gravity becomes weaker. If the earth were hollow and you were suspended at the center you'd feel completely weightless. This is because gravity is directional and if you're inside a sphere gravity of different parts of the sphere will pull on you in different directions (and correspondingly different magnitudes according to the inverse square law) effectively cancelling each other out at the center.
How was she working up a sweat during the "How does gravity work?" question? Edit: I've just seen another comment that answers my question- I was only thinking of it in terms of how Mike worked up a sweat!
