Hi Don, I came to the same conclusion. Both methods work but the angled cut was slightly easier on 6a plugs because of the staggering of wires up/down as they are pushed into the plug.
I agree, I picked this up from another video about the angled cut and it does seem to work better. The most important tool in this installation is a good pair of flush cutters. If regular side cutters are used the flatten out the insulation and it is impossible to get the plug on. I have tried scissors and a good pair work ok, but a good pair of flush cutters work best.
@@amynoacid Yes they do! 3 prong RJ45 8P8C plugs are for terminating solid OR stranded copper Ethernet. 2 prong is stranded only. Always opt for 3 prong!
@@rockero7907 Hello and thanks for the comment! I still vacillate between which one is "better". Quite frankly, I think it just comes down to individual technique and comfort level

Glad to hear you tried it out as well!
Wow good tip. I also do the cut into a ziploc bag to keep the clippings from flying everywhere and clean up easy.
Hello Chris! That is a great idea to keep things cleaned up. Clean as you go!

Thanks for your comments Dave! Indeed, a good pair of flush cutters is just about required!
I enjoy your videos, mostly straight to the point and very informative.
Thanks! We do our best to make the videos as straight to the point and fun as possible!
@@trueCABLE does 2 prong vs 3 prong make any difference in an rj45 jack?

Great video I always cut the cable straight but now I’ll try the angled method and see which one I like best. Thanks

0:07 Don from sure cable, thought I was watching tureCable?
make sure its pass through
Great point Rahul. This trick works only with pass-through 8P8C connector plugs!
