What a great, natural teacher you are Nicole. I’d nearly be tempted to take up the bodhrán myself!
You're such a good teacher. Thank you very much.
Best lesson EVER!! Thank you! Exactly what I needed to get started.
Glad you liked it Angela ! Lot’s more lessons from Nicole on the site - www.oaim.ie/bodhran/nicolles-bodhran-basics/
Muchas gracias bella profesora. Voy a practicar. Saludos desde Barcelona.
This is the first Instructor IMO, that really got down to the bare bones BEGINNING if you will, of how to play this drum. She showed me the first beating heart of the Bodhran to the Jig. I salute her for a sterling Job! Truly, former Lieutenant Commander John O'Sullivan, my immigrating ancestors came from Counties what are now Cork and Kerry. Castletown Bere to be precise, and they dropped the O', thinking that ignorant American Colonials would think them of American, or American- Sounding backgrounds/stock. They were in my estimate of history at the time, were correct at least 60+% of the time, at least until they opened their mouths. Har!

Hi Sean, there's a great course with Nicole on the site here - www.oaim.ie/bodhran/nicolles-bodhran-basics/
Thanks for this! I have an old one in my closet sitting for years. Been wanting to learn how to play it.
Awesome. Very good starter lesson. 🎶👍😀
Excellent lesson thank you! I am a fairly accomplished drummer with things like trap set and snare drum and I’ve been doing bodhran for quite a while, but I really want to improve it and I am sure going back to the basics will really help.
recently bought a bodhran from crowleys music centre in cork! fab instrument

Thank You Nicolle
Stumbled across Nicolle‘s bodhran lessons here on YT and then learned she is giving lessons at the OAIM. Lucky me! I have already subscribed to improve my mandolin and zouk skills, so I have also bought a drum now - and here we go. I really like the charming way Nicolle is teaching the bodhran.
Great stuff ! What drum did you buy?
@@onlineacademyofirishmusic I wanted to save some money, so I bought it second hand. Here in Germany you will mostly find Meinl or Hedwitschak. After reading about Christian’s craftsmanship I decided for a CoreLine 15“.
Very nice 👍
I just received this instrument, thank you for this video!
Hi Shelley, progress quickly with Nicole - www.oaim.ie/bodhran/nicolles-bodhran-basics/

Great teaching style Nicole. What brand and size drum are you using in this video? And what is the name of the tipper you showed and recommended for beginners with the bigger ends?
Beautiful girl and excellent lesson 👍🙏🏽
Hi! I would like to know how to make my bodhram sound like yours 😂😂
Keep following the course ! www.oaim.ie/bodhran/nicolles-bodhran-basics/
Wonderful lesson. As soon as I get the tipper from my neighbor, I’ll play my drum!
I got my tipper today!
You can make one yourself out of bamboo skewers as well. There are several tutorials on YT.
@@slateand808 thank yo, Alexander. I bought the two toppers already.
Does it have to be a sideways hit or could you do more direct. Just feels awkward for me holding the drum this way
I'm even more of a beginner than that. How do I hold the tipper? 😂
That comes later in the lesson .... keep watching
