Drop C# is what it's called...What you do for drop tuning is you tune all your strings to a tuning like Standard, half step down, D standard, etc. and drop your low E string down a whole step
thanks for this, me and my friends are doing a cover of this at a local radio station next Thursday and it was hard to find a full length lesson, thank you :D
very accurate to how josh used to play it, except for the solo, its not octaves, I don't know if its octaves in the album version (doubt it) but live he used to play it completely differently...the bridge and chorus are very accurate though good job :)
hey guys you are great thanks for everything and heres a small request, i think is very important to know what chord are we playing, can you display in the screen the name of the chord, i am a beginner and i think its very inportant so we can relate the sound with the name of the chord, something like displaying the notes of a solo or the name of the chord or the notes that compose one of those weird chords, and thats more important in guitar becuase you can play things in many diferent frets
1. It's a video. If it's "too fast", play it over again. 2. I hope you're joking when you say "C# tuning is better". C# is the same as Db, G# is the same as Ab, etc. You're only confusing people by arguing about the tuning. 3. There are multiple ways to play any line on guitar simply because the same notes are present in multiple places on the fret board. This is how she plays it. 4. Thank you for doing this tutorial Jen, you're doing more than the people who are complaining.
you have two tuning options you can either do it as she said. the 6th string goes from e to c# and the other strings just one fret down. Or you can detune the guitar 3 steps for all the strings. (Normal chord shapes but her instructions wouldnt make sense anymore) Or you can buy a pedal that electronically detunes your guitar. Helpful if you only plan on playing the song only a couple of times.
Hey, this is an awesome tutorial. I have a request. Can you do a tutorial on how to play "All Around Me - Flyleaf"? Thank you very much. you helped me out a lot ^_^
actually it's harder to play it like this because the song originally needs 2 guitarists, that's why the chords look so hard. It tries to cover both of the guitarists.
half step down so all strings are flat then you change you LOW E into a Db (which is 1 1/2 steps down i believe) just like playing in Drop D tuning but tune everything half step down afterwards
Pretty sure she's playing the leads wrong lmao, Josh plays it from the 12th fret on the fifth string, then 9th and 11th on the fourth string... and for the little riff on the second string 7th fret , he played it on 7th and then the 10th.
Thank you. I know all the variations are correct and sound just as good, but for some reason I just have the need to play it just like he does. Hope you understand lol, thanks again.
Yeah this is a terrible lesson. She doesnt even know where she is half the time and there are no tabs... this is just her personal version of it. I understand playing a cover how you want, but dont make a tutorial of a cover version.
Hmmmmmm parts of this aren’t correct. I don’t know why I’m watching this because I already know how to play this. But some rhythm bits have parts have been mixed into the lead also the second verse has been played completely wrong, so has the solo, the chorus is also played wrong So for anyone learning this I recommend you watch other lessons (As well as this) and listen very carefully by ear to the original and compare them. Then decide yourself what sounds right and what doesn’t. Ps. If you really want to try and learn it properly try watching videos of Josh Farro (lead) or Taylor York (rhythm) playing this song and watch carefully as well as listening to it to try and match exactly what there playing. It’s a lot harder that way but you know you’ll actually be playing closer to the original.
I think most of the moans are from beginner guitarists which is understandable. Things need spelling out a little more slowely for beginners sometimes. This is an easy video tutorial to follow if you are an intermediate player though.
my guitar isnt tune tuning to any of the strings. idk if its beacuse i play acoustic or my tuner isnt set to the right hertz. someone lease tell me what im doing wrong tuning wise!!!!! thnx:)
Its' not that guy who didn't play the guitar, it was the guy he responded too. He just explained to a guy why they didn't do this is complete slow motion.
@@_Mojitoo I was being pretty pedantic , yes they are the same thing but you would typically call it Drop C#. My point of the Drop D half a step down was because its an easier way to think of it if you're new to alternate tunings. I don't doubt that the way I worded it when I was 14 probably wasn't clear as to the point I was trying to make😂
The first time I heard the music Misery Business, I instantly became a Paramore fan lol
Seo Yuzuki same
Seo Yuzuki same
Seo Yuzuki same
Same
well it is their most popular song lmao
Drop C# is what it's called...What you do for drop tuning is you tune all your strings to a tuning like Standard, half step down, D standard, etc. and drop your low E string down a whole step
What you do is Take Drop D & tune the whole thing down a Half Step
the tuning is drop d flat / drop c sharp which both are the exact same tuning for those who are wondering. hope i helped

It's been 12 years since you made this and it's still so helpful! Thank you😆
in the bridge section try taking the 2nd chord on the 7th fret and sliding the whole shape down to the second fret :)
love this song.
thank you
Thanks for not mentioning muting strings and not playing through shit. Great teacher.
Terrible
No offense.... But picking. Through individual notes, no octaves, seldom power chords.
It common sense lmao
I think you’re just bad lmao this is really straight forward
very accurate to how josh used to play it, except for the solo, its not octaves, I don't know if its octaves in the album version (doubt it) but live he used to play it completely differently...the bridge and chorus are very accurate though good job :)

mahalodotcom This song is in Drop D-flat which is basically Drop D Down a Half Step & this makes it easier to sing the high notes.

What does one fret down mean?
This is very good, thank you Jen, I believe both my students and I are very pleased with this. God Bless.
Hey, this is an awesome tutorial. I have a request. Can you do a tutorial on how to play "All Around Me - Flyleaf"? Thank you very much. you helped me out a lot ^_^
This might sound stupid but is the chords the same if you play it acoustically?
should be
yes
actually it's harder to play it like this because the song originally needs 2 guitarists, that's why the chords look so hard. It tries to cover both of the guitarists.
All bands have 2 guitarists
no offense ma'am but if i may correct you... we count the stings starting 1 at the low E string down to 6 at the high E string .. (A)
half step down so all strings are flat then you change you LOW E into a Db (which is 1 1/2 steps down i believe) just like playing in Drop D tuning but tune everything half step down afterwards
Thank you :) a little confused in between the intro and chorus but I'll try my best

Yeah i noticed that too but this still sounds great
Only been playing for a year. I understood this completely...good tutorial thanks:)
I have the same problem. I think the tuning is different for acoustic guitars
yh thanks i have just snapped my high E string from trying to overcome these tuning issues
@21DCskate your right! If u go to songsterr they have the right one
Thanks Jen

she said at the start that she made an arrangement that mixes rhythm and lead so it can be played all on one guitar. Otherwise, you have a point.
I'm having a hard time playing the chorus and end chorus. Any suggestions?
I think most of the moans are from beginner guitarists which is understandable. Things need spelling out a little more slowely for beginners sometimes. This is an easy video tutorial to follow if you are an intermediate player though.
Would this sound weird in standard tuning?
