TWIMC, Belmonts are really good for online play since you play on reaction less so than other characters, more often than not you're setting up your zone rather than playing fast and in-your-face. Some other tips: - It's really important to not use one specific cycle of projectiles on repeat or get baited/conditioned to using the wrong option at the wrong time. - Holy water can be SDI'd, so you might want to angle your ftilt/fsmash upwards when the opponent's caught in it. - They don't do so well up close, so practice a lot their out of shield options like upB and nair, it's doubly important for a zoner. - As mentioned in the video, the axe is hella slow but has 3 different trajectories. With this you can condition the opponent e.g. throw the far reaching one 3-4 times in a row to bait them, then in closer range where they think you messed up by throwing the axe, hold back for the short version.
You can angle fair and bair, but not ftilt. If right stick were a clock you'd have to hit right between 2 and 3 for fair or bair angled upwards and between 3 and 4 for ftilt angled downwards (flip the clock for the other direction) You can also back-air the opposite direction of that which Richter/Simon are facing in the exact same manner, and in fact angling the chain BEHIND you for some reason creates a longer-reaching hitbox then the forward air version of the same move.

Same! I'm very guilty of this habit because I'm always nervous that I won't have the height to avoid getting juggled or for the ledge tether, but as I've come to realize it doesn't really matter. You can always jump later! Countless times I've been double tapped at the ledge by quick good aerial fighters like Jigglypuff/Lucina/Pikachu/Yoshi with my double jump already burned... such a crappy and helpless feeling :C Probably what has been preventing me from bringing my Simon anywhere over 3,800,000 GSP
Good guide! (One of your subs here, btw). I main Richter myself, so I thought I should correct one of your explanations for your viewers. You can just point your c-stick at the angle you want your bair/fair to hit. You don't have to press "up" or "down" to achieve the angles. You want to be able to maintain your momentum as much as possible. You also want to avoid fast falling every time you want to achieve a down angled bair/fair.

Jtails I know Simons holy water blows up normal links bombs and richter’s doesn’t, not sure about young or toon link but I’d assume it’s the same. Mew2king showed it off in his differences between echo fighter video.

Anybody have any tips on how to play against all the Links/ Ness, and Samus? I win against almost every other character but these three are the ones that I have a hard time beating. Especially Samus. It’s literally impossible to beat Samus with a Belmont (at least for me.)

I love the chain, feels so good when u start spacing right with the chain, figuring out the angels and everything. Really cool characters! Just too many people dont give them a chance cause they look so lame on the first look.
I might be mistaken, but I'm 99% sure richter's holy water does aura damage, making it the only move in the game not belonging to lucario to have the aura property. Blue pikman is immune to water damage, like greninja's shuriken, so Richter's holy water should kill it because it's aura, not water
Blue pikmin are immune to drowning because they have gills. They will absolutely die to Richter's blue fire though because it's still fire despite being blue :P
Holy water should ignite on contact. I hate the fact that it bounces on shield. It would be also be nice if he could whip in all directions on ground via tilt. All aerials should be extended since recovery is trash. Flame whip should replace smash attack. If custom specials makes a return I want my knife and spear plz
So I read and watch every guide, watch every tourney match, practice daily and put in more effort than anybody else, but my win rate across the board is still less than 10% - Years later and I haven't even slightly improved. Brand new players crush me, streamers put me in embarrassing montages and the most basic things outwit me with ease. Am I too stupid for competitive games? My physical health keeps me bedbound so things like this are my last chance at finding success in life, but I can't no matter how hard I try. I don't want to give up, but it feels like the community wants me gone.

Simon holy water can detonate snake and link bombs, Richter holy water can kill red pikmin. Das the only functional difference. Simon's is fire, Richter's is aura.
The Belmont’s are like a double edged sword One side they excel at space control and zoning as well as camp you at the ledge Other side, they are really easy to edge guard

Simon's holy water can also explode bombs due to the fire property. I'm pretty sure Richter's holy water kills blue pikmen too because it's not water.

You really start improving with the belmonts when you stop depending on items so much and start using the whip.

As ranged characters have less mobility, you gotta go Megalovania on thier asses.
Throwing the cross and axe off screen always surprises them.

There’s one more Axe angle that you forgot to mention: if you hold up it will travel more vertically, which is very useful for denying jumps.

Is there ever an advantage to using up tilt to recover over up B? It seems to me that up b is more reliable and recovers from a lower distance.
