This game is not a gem. It's a freaking Diamond! I absolutely love this game and every single thing about it. Honestly, I'd say it is completely flawless as a superhero game.

Whats great about the Arkham trilogy is they used the original VAs from the animated series even in other languages. Even little old frog me got a nostalgia hit when I played Arkham city.

Gotham is based off the Island of Manhattan in 1800 where crime was rampant. I live in NYC, crime is pretty bad but mostly individuals there are no big gangs out in the open.

I am so happy you are playing this game. I grew up playing the games. I hope to see you play all 4 games (or even 5 if you want to play Arkham Blackgate).
Really good to see you play another game I loved playing when I was young. This one had the most ambience. This game was a celebration for I think 50 years of Batman and combines a lot of things from the comics. Bane breaking Batman in the death scene for example is a reference to “Knightfall” and the setting is based on a comic called “a serious house on serious earth.” There many other references to the Batman mythos/lore like “death in the family.” I wonder if you want to play casually or get gud at the game. My best advice if you want to get good at the core mechanics is to play the challenge maps for stealth and forget the timer. Silent takedown is good but it leaves you out in the open. Hitting someone with a batarang more than twice they will dodge it and shoot at you. Hanging of the ledge and waiting for them to come near you will let you putt them off the ledge and send them flying like in the intensive treatment stealth section. You can trigger weak walls to explode “knocking them out” like in the hospital section. The thugs will listen to thugs getting hurt like using the batarang, ground takedown, glide kick, or using the explosive gel. As they find their fellow thugs knocked out they will get more paranoid and begin pairing up. Further knockouts will get them to scatter by themselves but become more jumpy and trigger happy firing around corners and randomly turning around to check if Batman is behind them. The other this is getting comfortable in using stealth without the gargoyles so you dont become predictable. For combat three hits on anyone and the free flow will begin. You will be able to knock down most of the people in one hit (exceptions being thugs with knifes and shock batons where you will need to do other things) as you power up the combo by continuously hitting people you will be given the chance to do special abilities (once you unlock them) like throwing someone or rendering them unconscious by breaking their arms and legs sending them into shock. You will know that you can do these abilities by seeing your combo meter number turn yellow. You will xp as you pay for upgrades but getting other collectibles in the game like the throphies will get you xp for you to get every upgrade.
Based Batman enjoyer. There’s hardly any Batman media I don’t like. It’s very cool you’re giving attention to the classics. Gamers forget about these games. I will disagree about there not being any good games nowadays. You just have to know where to look. As a JRPG fan this past year has been one of the best.

Don't be afraid of playing older games, even very old ones, if it interests you and you think they'd be fun for you to play and us to watch. Graphics aren't everything, and in fact may be wholly insignificant. I actually think excessive realism takes a bit of pleasure away. Sometimes a whole lot actually. Also a fun fact: Arkham Asylum as a concept was taken from Lovecraft's writing as a kind of homage.

Really good to see you play another game I loved playing when I was young. This one had the most ambience. This game was a celebration for I think 50 years of Batman and combines a lot of things from the comics. Bane breaking Batman in the death scene for example is a reference to “Knightfall” and the setting is based on a comic called “a serious house on serious earth.” There many other references to the Batman mythos/lore like “death in the family.”
I wonder if you want to play casually or get gud at the game. My best advice if you want to get good at the core mechanics is to play the challenge maps for stealth and forget the timer. Silent takedown is good but it leaves you out in the open. Hitting someone with a batarang more than twice they will dodge it and shoot at you. Hanging of the ledge and waiting for them to come near you will let you putt them off the ledge and send them flying like in the intensive treatment stealth section. You can trigger weak walls to explode “knocking them out” like in the hospital section. The thugs will listen to thugs getting hurt like using the batarang, ground takedown, glide kick, or using the explosive gel. As they find their fellow thugs knocked out they will get more paranoid and begin pairing up. Further knockouts will get them to scatter by themselves but become more jumpy and trigger happy firing around corners and randomly turning around to check if Batman is behind them. The other this is getting comfortable in using stealth without the gargoyles so you dont become predictable.
For combat three hits on anyone and the free flow will begin. You will be able to knock down most of the people in one hit (exceptions being thugs with knifes and shock batons where you will need to do other things) as you power up the combo by continuously hitting people you will be given the chance to do special abilities (once you unlock them) like throwing someone or rendering them unconscious by breaking their arms and legs sending them into shock. You will know that you can do these abilities by seeing your combo meter number turn yellow.
You will xp as you pay for upgrades but getting other collectibles in the game like the throphies will get you xp for you to get every upgrade.
I definitely second that recommendation for Shadow of Mordor in the future after the Batman series. 👍🏼

I will disagree about there not being any good games nowadays. You just have to know where to look. As a JRPG fan this past year has been one of the best.

Thanks for the stream Shiina, it was fun. It's actually a good game. Don't be afraid of playing older games, even very old ones, if it interests you and you think they'd be fun for you to play and us to watch. Graphics aren't everything, and in fact may be wholly insignificant. I actually think excessive realism takes a bit of pleasure away. Sometimes a whole lot actually. Also a fun fact: Arkham Asylum as a concept was taken from Lovecraft's writing as a kind of homage.
