I imagine a short to be hole or diversion in a pipe or system (of pipes). Other than that, great run down on how to find the short with modern methods. Showing an iPhone is a bonus as that's extra work and the tools you used, however (not bashing) but that looked like you pulled the pad, which is always a risk when ripping caps off. It's seems like it has It's pros (by avoiding unnecessary heat), but made more work or damaged the board.
Thanks for the comment. I didn't pull the pad on this one as I'm assuming you are referring to 8:31 in the video. The orange looking piece is the inner side of the capacitors end. if you look close you can see a silver ring around it where the solder shows(it would have appeared as the same color as the board if pulled). There is of course always a risk to popping off caps and pulling pads so great comment.
Cooking, tracing, freezing, dissolving, cutting, splitting, microscopic soldering, etc. ... you are no a person to mess with! ☠
