If you're depending on someone else for employment I'll say don't get them as a white guy. There are enough stereotypes around locks already. Also they could affect your image for certain jobs.

A retwist is never supposed to hurt. Notice thinning and bald spots. If its causing that much traction and tightness youre losing your hair in due time. No different from tight ass box braids and losong your edges!

Just try having dreads for a year and see if u like them or not
You can get dreads.if you want to speed up the process get your hair interlocked dreaded and you should be able to put in bun with no problem.
