In the press release, we were told no hidden paywalls too, I clarified that it will be free because it's not my first rodeo. After the launch, I tried to contact them and warn them about what I had seen happen to companies who pulled this stuff and quite frankly they had a bit of a meltdown at me in the DMs. As someone who has been supporting and promoting this company since before music youtube was much of a thing, it was a huge stab in the back.
I 've got lite versions of (two of) their paid plugins free with purchase, but haven't bought any. They do have a tendency of crashing my DAW, which doesn't endear me to them.
Came from Dash Glitch because I had no clue wtf he was talking about and saw your comment to figure out what is going on and you said you needed to rewatch your video to see if you could keep it up. Keep your video up please. This is absolute bullshit and I'm tired of companies pulling this crap. It's infuriating. This company flat out lied.
Yeah alot of people promoting its free … well that’s not true 😂 I was excited to download and try and till I had to buy a pack …. Are you familiar with the company roli they have a vst plugin called equator 2 that resembles this alot also I tried my roli bloc with it and the mpe works just like e2
Perhaps i dont feel burned be ause i was unaware of it and the company until the day i purchased, for me £20 with a plugin boutique discount seemed reasonable for the engine and the soundpack i chose was less of a factor but welcome.
I truly hope it works out for you .. Dash Glitch dropped his honest review of it, and he found it was pretty buggy and limited. I was considering buying a library so I could do a proper review of it and maybe even shoot it out against Soundpaint. But I can't in good conscience financially support a company that in the face of this, whose response has been to scrub any questions about why the free plugin is locked off their channel, make sly updates to the product page to make it less misleading, and double down on their approach because it's attracted a lot more users than they expected twitter.com/Audiomodern/status/1843288637317750971
@@pelennorDSP yeah will check out Soundpaint too, for now maybe it's just that my use case is more limited and it suits me, however I don't condone shady practice and if aware would probably never picked soundbox up.
P is on rant mode hehe. You're right, they need to change things. In the beginning I was eager do test it, atm I am not, did install it but yeh, free but not functioning so. I have all their other stuff but since having problems with some in my DAW I just stopped using them
I would not go any where near any software that forces me to buy one of their items. Unfortunately it is all too common now as well as data collection software. The thing is there are thousands of free plugins that are brilliant and completely free which are just as good, I made my mind up quite a while ago to just use these and its great, all the paid stuff can get lost as far as I'm concerned, there's even free DAW's, there's no need to pay for stuff.
You're not the only one using only free plugins .. one of the guys running the free plugins facebook group uses only free plugins and he makes amazing stuff. (I highly recommend that group if you're on facebook) I cover a lot of free plugins on this channel, trying to focus on the lesser known ones, so keep an eye out for those!
Checking back to their site, now it says "Soundbox users only*" underneath the download button. They also removed the word "free". Not a great look for them. Some common sense would've prevented all this. What still irks me though, as you mentioned, content creators seem to be adamant that there is no need to buy a pack (case in point Sumn Sumn Sumn HTK's video and his comment replies). I understand getting screwed over, but doubling down without testing to see if the viewer was correct feels off.
Exactly right .. I didn't have time to go back through all the launch videos, but quite a number of them didn't say anything at all about the necessity of buying a paid library. If they were just upfront about that from the start rather than try to pretend they were a "free plugin", I think people wouldn't have had too much of an issue.
How old a MacOS version are you running? It gets difficult to build for very old versions because you have to run a very old version of XCode, which then means it won't build for newer Mac versions.
Yeah that's a good point .. I don't think their business model here works very well, especially given the plugin is buggy and not actually that good compared to the competition
Yeah, superflous in a way. I download the plugin, install it, start it, get it what they are doing, deinstall it (Revo Un/Installer) and erase it from my harddrive and memory. Who again was AudoModern? Done. No need for a video. IMO. Beside the fact, that nobody in his right mind changes his sound libraries eco-system to an Kontakt-incompatible system if he has more than 5 Kontakt libraries. Why would one?

I just love how this is immediately not going to work out for them.
Free DashGlitch!!!
what a phenomenal crash landing that was lol
This explains a lot, thank you
You're welcome!
Audiomodern stuff is among my biggest plugin purchase regrets. I didn't even look at this thing.
I 've got lite versions of (two of) their paid plugins free with purchase, but haven't bought any. They do have a tendency of crashing my DAW, which doesn't endear me to them.
Honestly, prior to this, they were buy on sight - but this is a major misstep
Your gate's threshold might need to come down just a little.
Yeah, noted, I'll try and fix that in the next videos, thanks!

Oh it's staying up, and there's another video to come. I will rewatch it to check if I have misspoken at any point, but I don't think it's likely.
For me all they need to add is the ability to export the custom sounds with effects etc in a format thats not their proprietary one

I can highly recommend Soundpaint in the meantime .. let's see what happens over the next few days, I'm still hopeful of a walkback.

This is beyond crazy to me to pull this kind of marketing tricks. But I guess bad publicity is publicity after all.
Kontakt killed themselves by phasing out older Mac os from their manager. Woke up one day and im on the outside. Screw Kontakt

It's crazy the market is literally ripe for the taking, bizarre that many try and fail because of unethical paywall nonsense..
Audio Modern would surely have done better to make the engine free and take a cut of sales from curated packs created by the community?
