I think what I'm most excited about is Russel T Davies ability to bring back classic villains and make them interesting new incarnations. The Master, The Daleks, The Cybermen, Davros etc. Each time he re-inveted them and made them popular amoungst a whole new generation and now he's doing it for Meep and the Celestial Toy Maker.
We could get The Valeyard, The Rani, the Daemons. The possibilities feel endless again :)

I'd argue that the reason that the three companions didn't work was that there was no clear reason for it. All three were from the same place and time, and there was no clesr character for any of them. Ryan and Graham would have worked as a duo, while Yaz would have worked alone, but all three didn't work together. The ideal three companions would have varied where and when the characters come from to justify bringing them there. Imagine if our companions were Yaz, cop from present day Sheffield, Jericho, the 1950s paranormal investigator and that future cop from Flux. There is more potential for a show there.

i mean they had potential i liked graham and ryan and yaz when the first couple of episodes of series 11 aired i really liked them in the first episode of series 11 however all that was lacking was scripts and development graham worked well on his own but that may have been bradly walsh but i like the idea of a older person in the tardis for longer amounts of time rather than brian and wilf who had one adventure in the tardis (wilf had one adventure in the tardis and many other appearances on screen) and i liked how he worked with ryan but he didnt work with yaz and not overly with the doctor yet he did have potential still does but i doubt hed return i like dan and yaz i thought they worked somewhat well as well but it connecting them together yaz and ryan went to school together but it was mentioned a couple times and then forgotten about they could have been amazing together with the extra connection of graham and then dan couldda worked but it wasnt fleshed out enough.

Agree with all the points, but must point out that Doctor Who has never been free in the United States, outside of when they would air classic Doctor Who on PBS. New Who has always been behind a satellite/premium cable paywall with first airing on Sci-Fi and then later on BBCA, both of which were expensive channel packages and still made you sit through a lot of adverts. Any way the Beatles appear in a Clip from Top of the Pops, because Brian Epstien didn't want them to actually appear in the Show becuase he worried what it would do to their image. So they settled for the Band performing Ticket To Ride on Top of the Pops instead. Turns out that makes the episode significant in the History of Rock and Roll. It's the only Clip of the Band performing on Top of the Pops that Survives becuase that show was suffered from the same policy that cause Doctor Who to lose so many episodes from the Sixties.

I think a spin-off based around previous companions would be a great idea. That scene towards the end of 'Power Of The Doctor' with the companions support group? Imagine a series about companions, old and new, teamed up in various combinations, doing their best to investigate strange goings-on in the Doctors absence. Some of them aren't working all that much (but are fine performers), could be a fun thing?
Also, 'Ncuti Gatwa is already a massive star'? Really? I would wager most people had never heard of him until he was announced as the new Doctor. And I say that as a fan of 'Sex Education' but that's sort of a cult show.

I'm on the edge of optimistic and pessimistic for the shows future. The nostalgia influx is fine for the 60th, but the fact that Christmas Specials and Murray Gold are back makes me worry that we're going to be getting RTD's style of serialized seasons... Which was great when it was new and when it was the early 2000s, but started falling when Moffat took the helm and crashed when reintroduced by Chibs timeless child fiasco. RTD's initial serialized story telling set a precedent that's proven deadly for showrunners, and that's the expectation of having some series long arc. So rather than focus on individual episodes, character arcs, etc. producers and writers are essentially forcing themselves to focus on unnecessary arcs that can be great when good, but absolutely terrible when producers are left scraping the bottom of their mental barrel. We don't need energy wasted making season long arcs every season. We need a return to episodic seasons, where there's no build up to a finale. Just casual adventures with character arcs being the only thing carried across episodes. That way each story can be fleshed out and given the attention they need. Plus it gets stale after awhile.
Now, nostalgia is great in adequate measurements. Don't get me wrong, the 60th Special Looks fantastic, but that's an anniversary special... It's supposed to be nostalgia heavy. I really hope that they pull back on it for this upcoming series, because when Chibnall went heavy on the nostalgia after not giving any, the story nose dived. And quite frankly, given the return to old musical stylings, RTD, and all... I think it's a much deeper issue than too much nostalgia coming... They are going to techniques that may have worked in the past, but will likely not land well as time moves forward. The new Doctor and crew is certainly a step in the right direction, so is the new writer, but Gold needs to go after the special, musical motifs need to be made anew, if had at all, and we need more experimental ideas.
My biggest fear though is the increased budget. Doctor Who wasn't made as a high budget show, and it wasn't really intended to be high budget. Alot of the success comes from the limited creativity that comes from budget restrictions. It creates real life problems that can lead to interesting plot directions. Plus the cheese moments may be garish to some, but are certainly a treat to others.
Point being, if RTD really is going to usher in a golden era, then Gold needs to be gone after the special, stories need to cultivate a sense distinct from the first RTD era, the seasons need to be episodic, runtime needs extending, and for crying outloud, the series better have that right balance or the special is going to be a marvelous crown jewel of all that was once glorious to a slow decline into a second hiatus. Change can be good, good change is necessary for the shows long term survival, and it's what we need more than ever. But thus far it seems little evidence points to that with a show that will likely be the '05 series all over again. It was certainly great in '05, and rewatching them with that context is great... But there's a reason RTD left once. There's only so much one person can bring to the table. He may have found some new ideas in his time elsewhere, but I can't imagine it's enough to stave off from a gradual decrease in quality overtime. He could surprise me and have plenty of new ideas, but I don't think that's why the BBC brought him back, and it's not going to be good in the long run as the knee-jerk reaction to Chibs era can't be fixed with nostalgia. It can only be solved by moving forward and innovating.

I've commented this on your videos before but I'll say it again, the Disney deal is AMAZING for American fans. It's going to save us so much money. BBC America has always been behind an obscene paywall. I'm absolutely ecstatic that, for the first time ever, I'm going to be able to watch Doctor Who for free, because of course I already subscribe to Disney+. For years I've had to open up subscription for no less than $80 a month just to watch the show. But no more baby

Same! I had sporadic access to BBC America and couldn’t pay for it myself back then, so I had to rent dvds from the library, pay for individual digital episodes on Amazon, even go over to a friends house to watch them. Even then I struggled to keep up with 12 and 13 as they aired. So I’m so so grateful Disney+ will be an option from now on!

I think that streaming is going to pick us to death for individual "exclusive" series (like Paramount tried with "Picard", before they added the full Star Trek library). Amazon, AppleTV, etc.

The trailer isn’t on there either. I want to see some marketing for it. I know they can’t do actor stuff right now with the continued strike but they could use things like trailers and place holders. Come on this is why the Disney deal was supposed to be in place to reach more people.

So Dr. Who transformed into a bland white lesbian who completely tore to shreds the origins of The Time Lords vis a vis The Timeless Child.
Now to fix this they have hired a man who aspires to be the Scorcese of Alternative Cinema.
Dr. Who is now Scottish, Gay, Black, a Fashionista and a Millennial. There is no box left to tick.
His companion is the youngest ever, a blonde teenager and their nemesis will be an Army of Drag Queens!!!!!!!
