Thanks for the excellent presentation of the Harbeth "C7s." It's good to see the relative size of Harbeths. Without a frame of reference for size, all the Harbeths from the P3s, 30s, and C7s look the same on websites. Although the Harbeth website shows measurements in cm, it's annoying to need to make the conversion. It's great the Harbeth chose a worthy retailer in TMR for this rare B-stock offer. Also, great job on the podcast, Duncan. You and Darren always announce your affiliations, but still offer unbiased opinions on a range of products and brands. I wish other RUclips reviewers were as transparent.
Surprising to hear about Harbeth’s great fit and finish and meticulous attention to detail. There have been numerous owners reporting sloppy glue residue on cones, rough driver basket finishes, finger prints embedded in the finish, etc. For the record, I own C7s and like them. But if we’re being honest, English craftsmanship and manufacturing isn’t known for consistently flawless product…
Do you recommend this model for a small room? dimension 11m2 ,I'm currently listening to the p3 model there ,but I'm curious how he will cope in this size compact 7XD .
It isn't true that the crossover is more or less the same, the parts have different values as you can see on different pics online so they must sound different, as they do and as I have experienced by myself.
Am enjoying your show. I subscribed after your dad told me about it. We were good friends with your mom and dad when they lived in colorado. Keep up the good work. If you ever want to listen to a top end Linn system, let me know when you are in the springs.
@Duncan Taylor dunlavy/ar? Which dunlavy’s? I met John in 1992 and did some patent consulting for him. He had rewritten Maxwell’s equations (electromagnetism) for acoustics, and shaped his cabinets accordingly. I went to his room at CES. He had paired them with balanced audio amps. They sounded good, but not great. I’d also met bill Johnson, so I walked down to his room, suggested the combination, and viola. The combo won best of show. They were dunlavy Iv’s. I’ve tried ar several times, but they were always more sterile than I like (said the Linnie), but I really haven’t heard them in 20 years. Tell your dad hey for me and let me know if you are ever down south!
these speakers are Savaging revealing - even dos JL Fathoms got relegated to Hollywood iykwim - if you are going to own one pair of Harbeths get the Super HL5's - if you listen to vocals and strings and have the balls to go full tube then get the compact 7's or the 30's...... the super HL5's run well with good current - think about 200 watts into 4 ohms from NAD - a tube pre-amp or tube line stage and a good source like a Benchmark DAC1 etc. I'm a telefunken ECC88 fool so beware ..... Ken at Upscale Audio is someone you should contact ,,,,,,,,,
For the life of me I can’t understand why Harbeths are so expensive. My KEF R3 Meta’s put them to shame at a fraction of the price but of course it’s subjective
Bla, blah, blah. 40 years for sale Copy BBC LS3.5 ( P3ESR) and 5.9 ( 30-30.1-30.2) from 1973. In 40 years of miserable upgrades, mention is not worth it. So much about great wisdom

What brands are better?
Nice review! You should consider leaving the grill on one of the speakers to compare the looks.
Thank you for your suggestion. We will that on the next one!

Unbelievable mods. Wow. Love to hear the impact of the rel’s as well!
I have been thinking about these speakers. How easy would they be to integrate with a pair of REL T/7X Subs ?

Rel subwoofer model?
Geez, drop the f*****g background music!
Yes i hate it too not nessasary just like these crap hollywood movies where dialogue always has stupid music in the background IQ is dropping fast.
I gave up after 2 minutes. Could stand it no longer.

Have you heard them both - Harbeths and R3’s - in the same room?
@@commane21 Indeed I have. IMO the R3s were better but of course it’s subjective
tell me you can't afford Harbeths, without telling me you can't afford Harbeths.
Really intelligent exchange of views: My bank balance is bigger than your bank balance 😂 😂 😂
This is promotion and sales, it's not a review.
