Boy those rolls sound really good and a good old piano! The best I have ever heard that first roll!!! Had a very good "Pianolist" to play it which also helped!!! Thanks for your wonderful Video!!!
When you read a song title called "You sent a love torpedo right through my heart" you Must listen to it. These pieces make me see Marie Dressler dancing as Tillie.
We had pianola that my grandad gave us since he couldn’t fit it in his front room. He got it from somebody who owed him money I think. We used to play/abuse it for years, a lot of fun. I even took piano lessons for awhile. We moved house quite a bit as a result of my dads job and every time I think he had to give the movers extra money since the thing weighed a ton. After about 4 moves he broke it up and burnt it in the backyard! What a waste.
I hear you. Thanks for the story. I have moved this myself about 4 times, but it's not going any further under my power. The piano is still remarkably nimble since it's rebuild but hope to find it a new home soon. Thanks for the view. I still have some vids in the can, but haven't created anything new in quite a while do to health.
If you folks like pianist Walter Davison (a Vocalstyle staff artist who was well known in Louisville and Covington, KY as well as Cincinnati), you might also like to hear more of his rolls here: pianola.co.nz/public/index.php/wmidi/?title=&song_type=&roll_brand=&roll_number=&roll_date=&pianist=Davison&composer=&composition_date=&Date_added=
From the sound of the first piece, you can tell that Walter Davison had been listening closely to Charley Straight, since I hear lots of the Straight style in here, together with other characteristic 'teens piano figurations from other sources, and also probably several of Mr. Davison's own invention. Straight was certainly one of the most influential ragtime pianists of the 'teens, due to his highly commercially successful QRS rolls (later, Imperial rolls), and also to his early international touring with singer Gene Greene (together, they made about 64 piano-vocal records for British Pathé in 1912-1913, including lots of great vocal ragtime. These records are exceedingly scarce today, and some might not survive anymore, although there is a big reissue project in the works).
Thanks for the background detail, Andrew. It adds color and that much more pleasure to the listener. I'd love to hear the reissue; will keep an eye and an ear out for it.
Hi, you’re welcome. Here’s a playlist of a CD that came out a few years ago reissuing some of their work. They made approx. 64 sides together for British Pathe on tour in 1912-1913 and not all records are known to exist today / have been found, but this is a good start! : ruclips.net/p/OLAK5uy_m-LKBWXLk0O_Yn6qCIiCXd6zZ1qVVP2e4
Hi there! This is amazing! I'm currently directing the Importance of Being Earnest & would love to use the audio of the track to open the show if you'd let me!
Hey that was super cool to hear! I've been looking for an old time tune to use for my upcoming project. Can I use this music with your permission? If you allow me I will for sure give you direct credit!
they don't make catchy tunes like that any more.Family weddings in an upstairs room in a pub with all the men in uniform with all the old sons being sung with gusto and aunty on the piano.Old youthful and treasured family memories.

Hey that guys a pretty good pianist!
+Kevin Fournier Yeah, by switching it on!
Hi this is awesome! Especially Everybody Calls Me Honey... can you make a sheet music from the roll or a MIDI file???
That would be labor intensive, but there may be a copy on places like Ebay in the US.

+Bizarro Lense Yes, certainly. Just reference the channel.
Hi there! Would it be okay if we use this for a video we're whipping up for our website? Would really appreciate it! :)
"like" on 20 April 2016. A pity you have so few views and likes, considering the historical treasures you have made available to the general public.
+Harry Andruschak It's OK, it's the views that count.... it is my hope that people do actually like the old music.
@aknabea Thought you might like it.... maybe I should have given credit ?
People with player pianos....what is your favorite roll?

Simpler time? For who?
Probably for anyone living today I would think
