I've got one. I've owned Audis, Jags, Minis, Rovers and an Alfa and have driven many other cars from fast Fords to Volvos and Lexus, classic to modern, but this is probably the most fun of them all. Fantastic car. I met one of the Owen family once (who own/owned the BRM team) and told him I had one. "One of the little Rovers?" he asked. "Yes" I said. "Me too!" he said, suddenly becoming animated "Aren't they fantastic?!"

Such a cool car that not many people are aware of. I had a couple of Rovers years ago and always wanted s BRM but never got my hands on one.

I think you have forgotten that they did have 'performance' cars before this one, the Maestro Turbo, Montego etc. and even in the 90s sort of the same era of this car they had the Tomcat Turbo (Coupe)..

My uncle has just sold his to someone who plans to restore his. He bought it brand new and hit over 200k miles in it. It's hopefully going to be rust free, I hope it sees the road again sometime!!

Had one of these for a few years back in 2009 (V733 MLG) - great fun and a lovely gearbox with Torsen diff as standard. Mine suffered the dreaded head gasket failure - when I had it it was on its third! Mine didn't have AC, so that interior went from one extreme to the other in temperatures though winter to summer! In the end it was the dreaded tin-worm that killed it. Sold it as a parts car - the engine and 'box was still good. So bits of it might still live on.

Fitted with Rover security system - yeah the K Series headgasket. Rover were great at these bespoke engineering projects, This, the 75/ZT V8, The MG SV. They were also great at understated motorway blasters, anything with a M16/T16 turbo unit is quick machine. Had both an 800 Vitesse and a 620Ti and they surprised a lot of 'better' cars.

My mum had a Rover 200 BRM from 2007 to 2011. Very good car. It had AC. Smooth yet sporty/rorty engine. Nice ride over road undulations too. Other than the head gasket - which went on mum's - only the driving position and the slightly over light steering (which lacked real feel) marred the fantastic driving experience. It deserved better than 10th out of 12th place in Top Gear Magazine's 1998 epic Hot Hatch group test.

Hah! Really needed that laugh with the change of clothing. Missed out the 200, but settled with a 98 620ti which was an awesome car. Regarding the dreaded head gasket, I think people forget that such issues were not just isolated with Rover!

I sold a handful of these new back in 99, more than one my customers wanted the orange grill respraying silver before they collected it. I also enjoyed taking the demonstrater home, pretty decent car, and very unusual, great review.

Magic engine, utterly rev tastic, complete with tarts boudoir interior, performance and handling that would surprise a few newer cars.

Of the 200 R8 series I've had a 220sdi, 200vi, a zr 1.4 and 2.0 diesel. I've had loads of other rivers and mgs but always wanted a BRM, the wheels always look good on a 200
