I wonder if Keen will update look of the original vanilla blocks at some point. Also, I hope the new scaffolding blocks will reduce the number of "ground down" choices on builds.
@@AliceDoesThings404 They only did the final build stage though. All the older blocks still use the old build stages from pre-redesign. You can see the shape change on some of them, eg; the large grid small atmo' thruster.
@@Slye_Fox I kinda like having remnants from the early game. Some of the ships used in random encounters are such old BPs that the basic refinery is still named "Arc Furnace." Model is updated, but if the dev manually named it, like changing the number, the old name remains. I also like that some of those derelict ships haven't been updated, because it makes them feel super old, like they've been there forever. It's like finding an abandoned Blockbuster Video IRL, or seeing a business or home in a building with the iconic Pizza Hut roof. So in a way, the old grind down models hidden within their redesigns is quite charming to me, as I've been playing SE before they introduced planets, and ladders and beds were still player mods.
The wheel collision is NOT fixed for the new wheels, you can now build much closer to wheels but the collision will still cause phantom forces. I just had a rover flip end over end while testing the new wheel blocks. The collision boxes are narrower in the inside but not the center or outside so when you turn the collision box in the center of the wheel will hit the inside of the wheel well and stop the wheel from turning. Ironically enough they had this exact same issue with the old wheels and fixed it but apparently forgot to add the updated collision boxes to the new wheels.
The new thrusters appear to be primarily more compact visually for the large ones - large atmospheric thrusters are 3x3x4 if I remember correctly, and these are 3x3x3, though they still have thrust burn as well to take into account. Small hydrogen thrusters have always been single-block thrusters, but it's very nice to see a compact atmospheric variant compared to the three block long standard ones. The fan RPM detail does apply to all atmo thrusters, though - it's just a lot harder to see on a turbine than on a propeller. It's always been one of those little things I enjoyed looking at. The inset blocks appear to be intended to function as walls, more than as central pieces, hence being inset in the first place but also mainly due to the corners reaching the full exact corner dimensions of the block. That way, placing it in a wall and hiding one side will not leave a weird gap full of screens or server access or what have you. It's also possible to put them behind blocks like the half bed, making unique combinations there. Wonder if we might get non-inset corner, curved and potentially inverted curved LCDs.

Dude, the big update was the new AI behavior on the Task block. If I'm reading it correctly, it will allow for some really great drone activities. Two behaviors that immediately come to mind are defensive screening, where they fly around your ship increasing your fields of enveloping fire and formation flying. The blocks are great and all but the behavior opens up a bunch of cool possibilities.

It's a nice change of pace to see a constructive and mature video about Space Engineers. It's just done for the sake of complaint and then have the audacity to abuse others. I'm sorry for this random comment, I just needed it off my chest. Very nice video, good overview, pleasant editing, keep it up!
Yeah i've seen it too on dev stream about new update. Some people complain about things they expect and waiting for a long time, so it's understandable. I'm not concerning that they deserve a lot of hate, but still some things could've done sooner. I would say the main issue is DLC type updates, yes you still get a free content and not a bad one. But DLC has not only different skins and models, but also a functional blocks and it's a bad thing. I would say, if Keen needs money, they could just made game better and at least make more QoL updates. Because for now, if you want to make you game better, you can only hope for it to come in the next updates or download some workshop mods, where people add a lot of QoL things, even small changes. It's like you can know if the game is bad, when mods can make it better. P.S. I know that developing a game is not an easy job, I'm not a developer myself. I do like Space Engineers and how far it went from release. But still, nowadays game is leaking from content and looks more like a cash grab.
@@varenzer_h8jk425 I'm sorry but calling SE a cash grab is honestly just wrong. To be clear, this isn't a backlash to attack you, I just want to make my point clear. First of all, SE cannot be a cash grab. Keen is still working on it and it's practically their only source of income. A cash grab would be a game like R6 Extraction. They made the game, priced it high, called it live and then abandoned it within a year. (you could even call some AAA games prices at 120 dollars, a cash grab) Now lets not forget that SE is a live game that keeps getting new content. There is no way for Keen to stay afloat without DLCs. It's simply not possible. The only way we can continue to have support for this game is by paying for it, it's how life works. They are all games that are still growing and each update comes with a DLC. In most cases there isn't even any free content. Yes it's expensive but is it wrong? I honestly don't think so. Yes, it's sometimes overpriced but that doesn't change the fact that it's a product. They can't give it away for free. Nothing can be done about the stability of the physics, not for this game. But keep in mind, while Keen works on SE, they also have a new engine in the making (which is AMAZING). I would also like to add, the reason why we get so much decorative content is because the player base always gets pissed when functionality is behind a pay wall. They want to keep getting lots of content made by actual people without paying even for a coffee. That's insane! All because people are too naive and arrogant to appreciate digital content. The fact that it's not a physical item does not mean that it doesn't take time, resources and lots of effort to produce. I reckon that's where they're headed, the improvements to combat and focus on automated systems and AI seems to be setting the stage for more interesting encounters.
I would like to also add if they can update the HUD too like have it where you can see how much ammo you have left and also add more types of guns like a shotgun and SMG while polishing the vanilla one like add a drum magazine for the rifle or put a x4 scope to the sniper rifle one
@@darthtempest4722 The HUD idea is a great one, and you should definitively leave it on the Keen forums if you haven't yet. As for personal weapons, I'd be surprised if those were touched soon. Thank god for the thrusters. I always love makeong large planet hover crafts. Now they just need to add the ability to pick up objects and rotate them by hand lol.
I did check the new solar and wind power blocks out in a creative world. And you get a slight boost over the vanilla version. It isn't much but they are way cool and don't cost any different in materials. So, it just depends on preference. I found about a 15 to 25 kw in power bump in power difference with the new blocks. More testing would need to be done to determine if there some benefit in the new blocks. 😁👍 I like them myself, as a 7 year veteran of SE.
Arguably the new wind turbine might have a hit box advantage depending how it’s done projectiles might just go straight through the middle of the blades
I wonder what they mean by Improved AI and Improved event controller?? So far no new options in the event controller AND my Ai missiles broke and won't target anything like they did a day ago? (I've reloaded the exact same world where my missiles worked - so nothing was changed by me - and it just won't target like it did 24hrs ago...)
They could really make a "Most Wanted" update with all the new ai options! But in this case, your the most wanted for your crimes against the Interstellar Miners. Got the idea from someone else here but seriously it would be cool to be hunted by drones occasionally for pirating non hostile ships. I'm thinking something similar to the sentinals from no mans sky, obviously the drones would operate with advanced ai and fly in formation. They would either be aligned with a new faction the "Bounty Hunters" or "Mercenaries" or they could just be allied with the faction you upset. If they do anything similar to what I've described they should definitely alos add a way to buy your way into the good graces of the hostile faction to "Pay for Damages" but I think that bout wraps up my take on this.
Gute Tageszeit. Hat noch niemand die Zugkraft der neuen Kompaktmotoren mit einer Schraube im Ring im Verhältnis zu den alten Turbinen berechnet? Wie effektiv sind sie?
then only bad thing i notice in the inset blocks , almost all are for corners , so if you plan to do a square room , you have to put them all in the corners , kinda wierd, or forget about one side of the block and dont use it , a shame tho
I liked the video, but it would have been nice for you to do a few tests and show us the thrust of the new thrusters and the power generation of the new solar pannel and wind turbine. But good work.
Thanks for the video. I love the new blocks and I am always happy to support Keen through the purchase of the DLC. I am saddened that the update seems to have broken Build and Repair on our server. @@AliceDoesThings404 it says it on blocks that are both large and small grid aswell but and I can’t use any new blocks game says it’s 1.203 still? Maybe it’s just a Xbox thing
I think it's because of the improved ricochet mechanics, which really could be a gamechanger when it comes to combat, as well as the new scenario and updated AI behaviour. In truth, though, I bet they were just struggling with a cohesive theme that didn't centre things around the DLC, and I think I prefer a bit of a misnomer to making players who don't get the DLC feel like they're missing out.
I love this update and dlc pack, but the naming is a little misleading. Warfare evolution, and then releasing 0 warfare related blocks or mechanics feels kinda weird. As a non combative engineer, i'm absolutly loving all the new insets ❤
Lets be honest, most of the stuff that appears in the DLC is "inspired" by mod that existed long before it. I have that heli-thruster mod and I love it, but I do really like the fact they're now textured nicely and can be properly coloured.
Ricochet mechanics, AI block updates, and the new scenario. In truth, I think they just didn't know how to best group these things together under a single theme.
Well you don't have to pay for all of it, the "meat" of the update is all free from the ai updates to the slim suspension and new thrusters, the only thing you'd have to pay for is decorative blocks and it would only be like 5us dollars so it's well worth the money.
Both arguments are true to their own extent. UPDATES come with new blocks. These blocks are expanding the vanilla collection. DLC'S are purchases that include blocks not included in the simple update. Granted, they are not mods but they are I guess in-between Vanilla and a mod.
So I was just gonna go full keyboard warrior on you cause im more than a little upset at my apartment complex right now, but i decided to actually look it up and found this, "the original release of a particular game without any add-ons or expansion packs", but by that logic, no game game is vanilla after the day 1 patch, including SE. So naturally i dont agree with it. I prefer to look at it as who created the extra content to begin with. Was it a dev working at the studio that released the game or a dedicated fan who just wants to make the game better? So for me, DLC, as original content made by the games devs for the game is vanilla content. I also look at the likely hood of the extra content breaking with a game update and how long it takes to get fixed. Cause nobody is perfect, even game devs will break their own stuff by accident. but it also usually gets fixed quickly. Most mods do not.@@markuhlman3767
@@jakethesnake2655 It could be so, if DLC had only skins and different models on blocks. But it also has different cockpits, functional blocks etc. So with DLC you can not only have a beautiful ship, but also a much practical and useful.
@@varenzer_h8jk425 Beautiful, sure, but practical and useful? Maybe if you're super clever about access points and hitboxes, but most players won't be trying to use scaffolding as the ultimate shield or rely on lockers for game-changing storage, especially since most of the DLC blocks are higher PCU and thus less practical on unmodded servers. And for the ones that do have mods there's something out there for every functional and almost every aesthetic block out there. I've never felt like I'm missing out on not having certain packs, and I've certainly never run into a ship I felt was more capable than mine because of DLC.

Man, if you already make a video about the new stuff, at least take the time and search up or test for yourself, if the bigger wind turbine generates more energy or if the new atmo thrusters generate less thrust. That is really important to know. And another point: You caan talk a little bit faster.
I'd rather take the time and dedicate a video to comparing the new thrusters against the old ones thuroughly. The same goes for the wind turbine and the new solar panels, instead of getting rushed results to push the showcase out. As for the talking.. I got a cold, so slow I go 🙃
According to BuildInfo, the large flat small grid thruster makes about 2.3 standard atmo thrusters worth of thrust, so a slight decrease in efficiency for total space consumed. The redirect could be important for certain types of builds though.
To answer you, the bigger wind turbine doesn't seem to generate more energy. The new atmo thrusters are weaker though, but look cooler. Definitely designed for lighter builds. I only tasted this for large grid, but the normal small thruster is over 3 times more powerful than the flat, while the large one is around 2.5 times.

I like them myself, as a 7 year veteran of SE.
The scenario is 10/10
Thanks for showcasing the new blocks, very useful!
I'd say the DLC is worth the $$. Especially when you consider the free parts of the update.
this update is very cool ! thank for presentation
It's official! We find life in space!
Now comes the question : How can the bubbles go up and the fishes swim in space ?
🤔
Artificial gravity generator
You need a gravity component to build it, so our little friends always have a downward direction.
Arguably the new wind turbine might have a hit box advantage depending how it’s done projectiles might just go straight through the middle of the blades
I was looking for a detailed yet not overly extended breakdown bc I'm a lazy fuck and this is perfect. They def. should pay you.
Cheers! :D
Not gonna lie, im gonna miss seeing the camera shift to the big grid when i parked. It was nice confirmation.
Finally none frozen water in space engineers, the fish tank :-)
Great Video! Its been awhile since Ive played. Lots of new things!
These will make my Minmatar ships look awesome! Trust in the Rust!
I bet the warhead being on a smaller platform than the barrel contributed to the difference in crater size.
It mostly has to do with the amount of explosives in each. The barrel had 2 whilst warhead had 6.
Miner Wars is lore, but it's KSWH lore not Space Engineers lore.
I wish they'd add a button to turn off global chat. Mp servers get ugly
oh god dont let TFE see this bookshelf block that carrier they are building is gonna take even longer now
lol
i really hope at some point they make some of the decorative blocks small grid since you cant really decorate small grid ships on the inside
Small grid Aquarium? Yes please
Ricochet mechanics is great, but makes railguns and other high piercing weapon kinda loses it's streak.
I'm fine with it honestly. People might build something other than a railgun brick. Maybe we'll see some railgun disks!
@@herec0mestheCh33fknowing ur pfp railguns make good MAC cannons from our favourite green space buddies
then only bad thing i notice in the inset blocks , almost all are for corners , so if you plan to do a square room , you have to put them all in the corners , kinda wierd, or forget about one side of the block and dont use it , a shame tho
I liked the video, but it would have been nice for you to do a few tests and show us the thrust of the new thrusters and the power generation of the new solar pannel and wind turbine. But good work.
Working on a dedicated video for it, coming soon 👍
I wonder why is it called Warfare evolution, since it doesn't have a single combat block?
Still, very excited to try new blocks.
Wasn't ROS the faction you worked for in Frostbite?
Imagine if they start adding alien variations of all the blocks lol
I love the fish block. I'm going to use it in all my builds now... I hope they like 0 g.
solar panels are STILL not centered on the block
I can see someone using the kitchen with the Kevin Hart joke
oooo i like those solar panels
Solar panels are slightly weaker than the orginal. Flat Thrusters are 70% weaker than the normal atmo's thrusters.
I found out that the flat thrusters are weaker but I don’t know by how much. Does anyone know?
Im so excited for the new ricochet mechanic all of my ships are angled
0:50 hooray! I rejoice. it happened
me: ah okay that looks cool and all, but I'm not buying another DLC, I'm broke already
6:02
me: BASE GAME???? LESSSSGOOOOOOOOOOO
Thanks for the video. I love the new blocks and I am always happy to support Keen through the purchase of the DLC. I am saddened that the update seems to have broken Build and Repair on our server. It will not function and half of the menu is not displaying. :(
Has anyone else seen this issue or know of a solution?
You forgot the port under the inset cryo pod
Theres actually 3 new beds, there also a half block bed with a back that you missed
Noticed after it was uploaded, a shame really, but luckily not too critical.
the new thrusters are a bit weaker but cheaper to build
Is this an update update or do I need to buy the pack to be able to use
What happens if you shoot at the aquarium?
Also is water coming to the planets in your opinion?
When water comes I expect submarine and ship bases and the ability to make ships worthwhile by adding long range missiles to ships
R.O.S. Robot Operating System
we need farming blocks, food and water for survival
Just downloaded up date and decorative pack 3 but no blocks are showing up and says N/A on a lot of original game blocks
The N/A means that they aren't available in either large, or small grid formats. A clearer indication of what blocks can be large or smallgrid.
@@AliceDoesThings404 it says it on blocks that are both large and small grid aswell but and I can’t use any new blocks game says it’s 1.203 still? Maybe it’s just a Xbox thing
@connornorlin9388 Could be, I heard there was a bug with that for some people
Might have to wait for a hotfix
Performance improments?
That's something new never heard of that What is that?
But is the new medical room silent, or does it still have that annoying repeating noise?
The noise is still there.
Never heard of a boy named Alice.
Checking the different Turbine Powers would have taken 1min ...😂
Depends on how deep you go in testing. There are a lot of variables to consider when testing the wind-turbine.
Definitely a cool update, a little too much on the DLC side though I think.... I also don't really see why it's called warfare evolution...
As a non combative engineer, i'm absolutly loving all the new insets ❤
we need cargo access point block
I'm sorry if it is obvious, but can somebody please tell me what skin he is using ?
I think it looks very nice and was unable to find it myself
Armor skin or character skin?
@@AliceDoesThings404character skin
@pollandia5389 Its the veteran suit MK.2, a pain to unlock.
@@AliceDoesThings404time for me to go through the same pain then
thank you very much
Solars in vanilla on a rotor/hinge are a joke. You can place maybe 4 on each before it becomes a clang fest.
How to launch explosive barrels as depth chargers 😂
hello, missing a half bed half closed ^^
Noticed after the video was up, thanks
to bad they broke the hinge and therefore every mining rig i have
You just made a sale for Keen. They should pay you.
I know right?
It there anything good to see in this update?
I guess only new atmospheric thrusters
@@varenzer_h8jk425 I was just kidding. I think Alice said "good to see" about 50 times. :)
@@donatreides Ahahahah I get it now xD
Yeah, my brain was a little fried due to the cold I got, lol
They literally just ripped off the old OG Heli Thruster Mod lmao
Lets be honest, most of the stuff that appears in the DLC is "inspired" by mod that existed long before it.
I have that heli-thruster mod and I love it, but I do really like the fact they're now textured nicely and can be properly coloured.
No weapons. Why is this a warfare update.
Yeah not much here warfare-wise for us PVE players...once again.
Ricochet mechanics, AI block updates, and the new scenario. In truth, I think they just didn't know how to best group these things together under a single theme.
i love Performance improoments. My father would have said open your DG mouth when talking, you sound lazy.
Yeah I get that. I am still trying to fix my audio set up so I sound a bit clearer. Still, always good with performance improvements!
this would be nice if you didnt have to pay for all of it.
Well you don't have to pay for all of it, the "meat" of the update is all free from the ai updates to the slim suspension and new thrusters, the only thing you'd have to pay for is decorative blocks and it would only be like 5us dollars so it's well worth the money.
hey alice! do you perchance happen to have the trans in your gender?
Alice is a male name too??
FISH
"[...] which is really nice to see."
You say that a lot. Just don't - it would make your commentary so much better.
I was sick when making this, so my brain was kind of fried 🙃
Not first :(
You look like the first to me?
I'm so hype, bought that DLC as soon as I could lol
@@WhoTookMyWafflesme too lol
Please, for the love of god, stop saying "in comparison to the vanilla variant". its a dlc pack, not a mod. its all vanilla.
Yeah it's not a mod, but vanilla means something that already in the game. DLC is not vanilla, because you need to buy it first.
Both arguments are true to their own extent. UPDATES come with new blocks. These blocks are expanding the vanilla collection. DLC'S are purchases that include blocks not included in the simple update. Granted, they are not mods but they are I guess in-between Vanilla and a mod.
@@markuhlman3767 Yeah I would agree on that even more then my version.
These DLC packs should at the very least be like....2 bucks...paying $60 in DLC alone is insane
You don't need the dlc to use it tho? If a friend has it and places it bam you can use it
@@jakethesnake2655 It could be so, if DLC had only skins and different models on blocks. But it also has different cockpits, functional blocks etc. So with DLC you can not only have a beautiful ship, but also a much practical and useful.
60 dollars for this dlc???. I thought dlc's were around 4.99.
this dlc is 6.49 cad
@@varenzer_h8jk425 Beautiful, sure, but practical and useful? Maybe if you're super clever about access points and hitboxes, but most players won't be trying to use scaffolding as the ultimate shield or rely on lockers for game-changing storage, especially since most of the DLC blocks are higher PCU and thus less practical on unmodded servers. And for the ones that do have mods there's something out there for every functional and almost every aesthetic block out there. I've never felt like I'm missing out on not having certain packs, and I've certainly never run into a ship I felt was more capable than mine because of DLC.
Too bad it's a little too late, the game is dead. let me correct myself just about Dead There's only a handful of servers with actual players on it.
I think the game is far from dead. There is still a lot of passionate players in the community. So don't be so negative 🙃
@@AliceDoesThings404 I have Just over 6000 hours in The game. I've also ran a server for over 3 years with an average population of 50 plus players. As the game Maker said, there will be no more major updates due to the engine not being able to handle it. So, yeah, they'll throw in a couple blocks here and there. But all honesty, the game isn't going nowhere. Unless it changes The game engine. which means a new game.
I got a cold, so slow I go 🙃
@@AliceDoesThings404 okay, understandable. Thanks for the response. And get well soon 👍
