The 17:00 perspective is awesome to see that cutting edge roll the dirt over from the front of the dozer shows what this machine can really do! Love the enthusiasm in the comments in the background as well! A good 30 minutes here 👍😁
It sounds great!, Except for the miss in the engine( probably an injector) not only can you hear the miss, but you can see it puffing smoke from the rear exhaust pipe.
Internationals and Caterpillars were pretty common around the Great Lakes region back in the 50's-60's. I always liked the dark red color and the curved "bullgrader" blade attachments on the smaller TD-14s and TD-9s.
Look at that old girl get a belly full and keep right on going like not even trying to push awesome power thanks for sharing this video love these old equipment so much better than the new shit on computer to make it run just know how
Next time you are in Burley Idaho let me know. We have several that need to be ran. You are more than welcome to show us how it's done. Unless you prefer to just run your mouth on RUclips commenting on a video that was published for people who enjoy vintage equipment.
my uncle has one just like it,that's what I learned on. most of these wannabe operaters need some seat time on the old stuff like that. when you learn from old operaters on old machines it's the right way!
Just so you know -- F. P. Smith Co. in California have parts for TD18's -- low prices -- If you need to remove the injection nozzles a slide hammer works best . Sometimes the Pre-combustion Chambers ( under the injection nozzle ) burn out or crack. If you ever have a cracked head a shop in Cambridge Iowa are the worlds best on IH heads .
all that old gal gotta do is hold together for two day,s it will have earned it,s keep be sure keep radiator full alway,s i,ve changed a lot of head,s on those old babies most of time they were onsteep slope backing up or going up radiator low front or rear dose not get coolant till tractor breakes flat after while cracked head,s
that engine still sounds wrong it should not be white smoking when running have a mechanic check the injectors you can hear it not running clean one cylinder
I would guess it would be bad rings in one of the back cylinders. White smoke would be coolant, or a lot of moisture in the combustion chamber. Blue would be oil. And black is fuel. Needs a rebuild.
You are right. We had some serious problems with this engine in this video. We had to do some major work. Rebuilt one of the heads, replaced the #2 piston, new injectors, spark plugs, mag, starter, injector pump...list goes on. Have you seen the newer videos? It runs amazing!
Great footage - the guys who could make these older dozers cut flat grade and move material efficiently were the real deal for operators.
You are right! Running a 70 year old machine is an art on its own.

Awesome machine still getting the work done. I'm still working my 1952 Oliver crawler. Love the old iron !!
These old girls are bloody cool and still able to punch their weight.
It sounds great!, Except for the miss in the engine( probably an injector) not only can you hear the miss, but you can see it puffing smoke from the rear exhaust pipe.
Check out the newer videos. Rebuilt front head, new #2 piston, all rebuilt injectors and a rebuilt injector pump. It sounds amazing.
Nice to see one with the old cable blade, have seen more B/E hydrolic blades on these.

They are unique machines!
que belleza !! Eran buen fierro americano ! trabaje años con estas series de IHC desde TD9 a TD24

ithink the td20 with the rolls royce motor was probably the best bet around that vintage

Thanks for the tip John! We ordered some new thermostats from them. Should be here next week. It is hard to find parts for these old machines.

Hell of a machine. I'd like to get one.
Nice machine just as good as a cat from the same time.
Are you nuts ?
+Red Fredrickson Sure I'm nuts.... I'm nuts about International Harvester.
+dlzastera Whatever cranked is what I ran. Being too picky got you a lot of time at home.
+dlzastera have you been drinking heavily. What junk .We had a td 14 and a td 18a. both junk.
I've run the stuff for 40+ years and learned not to be picky. I had bills to pay and it didn't make any difference what it was. If it ran, I'd run it.
Boa máquina gostei

Sounds real nice.
You notice as it warmed up it sounds better and pushed more
Have you seen the newer videos of this machine? Rebuilt pump, injectors, starter, mag, spark plug wires, rear head etc...It runs amazing!
It would help a lot if their was somebody their that knew a little bit about running a Dozer !
lo mejor
If it's running it's fine. Those old pre cup injectors just a little dirty. Run it!
Have you seen the new videos?
u could keep level better with good working cable controle
doesnt sound like it laboring at all like to see old iron still working

You are right! These things are head poppers for sure. Gotta keep that rad full.
she may be off a little but for what he does its fine
I have an engine and other parts i u should need it
What’s the story on your engine?

Is he a learner
Yes he is

Joe Paar white smoke is unburnt fuel... a misfire. If it was passing that much anti-freeze, it would be boiling over by now.

Why does everybody say it runs so nice ? It is running like the piece of junk they were from day one !
Red,
You are showing just how little you know about these old crawlers!!
Do they still make the dozen now
