Hey Kennedy ! You stated a pretty rational way to go about deciding the salary range one is comfortable with , but I was a bit confused about the relationship between one's years of experience and the salary one can expect ! Would it be possible to get a salary of 75 thousand Euros + in Germany , for someone with 1 year of industry experience as a Backend Engieer and 4+ years of experience running their own 2 startups as a Founding Engieer ( Full Stack Enginner - MERN stack ) . So a total of 5+ years of experience ! What would be a good range for an individual with such a background ? Would 65 - 75 thousand euros be a good range , or can one aim higher ? Thanks !!
Hi Chiranjeev, For total of 5+ years the range what you're mentioning is a good ask. But if you specifically ask 75k+ along with visa sponsorship, then I am bit doubtful. However, if you're already in Germany, (maybe with JSV), then it is possible to have 75k or bit more from bigger companies.
Thank you very much for the information, Jegan! I just have one question. While filling out the application, I noticed most companies ask to provide an expected salary, but unfortunately, there is no option to provide a salary range as well, so in this situation, what would be the best number to provide?
Hi Prafulla, Good question. In such cases, if my preferred range is 55k to 70k, then I provide something like 60k or 65k based on the company size. There is no rational behind this number, but came to this conclusion based on trial and error.
Hey Jegan !! Really interesting video !! I would want to know what would be a decent salary to ask for a couple with single salary for Hamburg.. Since its internal transfer employer is paying only 50 K I would want a decent salary than a survival one.. what to quote
Hi Satish, I don't have up to date info on this. But I have a way to determine this as discussed in this video. ruclips.net/video/Cf7G9A7KRVo/видео.html May be it helps.
Hey Jegan, Good video at the right time. How much can I ask for Munich? They require 2+ yrs, but I am 10+ yrs experienced. I am scared that I might get rejected if I ask more. They have wfh option. Thanks.
Hi Sharanya, There are high chances that your profile can go into waiting list or temporary hold until they explore lesser experienced professionals than you. Also, my guesstimate would be around 60k range for that role. (Without knowing more details just with city and experience)
There is no right answer for this. If I were in your place, I would go with this -- I am willing to explore the startup work culture in a newer country, so I am ready to start with such roles. I also believe that startup's junior roles do have the potential to perform equivalent to big enterprise's mid-senior or senior level roles. Hence, for me the scope is important than titles. --
Hi Jagan, very nice explanation. I am getting one offer in Munich and I will be moving with my wife and 2 children. How much can I demand for decent to luxury living? Thanks
Jegan, Likes the way of your explanation, Thank you lot !! I've a doubt, I'm an aspirant for overseas opportunities. Applying continuously, i've doiubt that how much salary range I can tell them if I'm getting call. Actually, I've 11 yrs exp in iOS mobile app development, designation is technical lead. I can understand that It can varies as per city, but kindly give your thoughts & suggest some range 🙂like what is the standard range for my experience & tech in Germany?
Hi Mega Nathan, Thanks for your kind feedback. As you rightly said it varies based on various factors. But if you still need a number from me, I would say 65k to 70k for small/mid sized companies. 80-85k for big companies. Including Visa. If you're already in Germany (maybe with JSV) then you can try negotiating for 5 to 10k extra.

To add role is of a it project manager , where relevant experience I have is 2 years out of total 10 years
Hi, Sorry I am late to answer. But 50K is of course will fall in survival category. My proposal would be between 65k to 75k range.
Excellent bro.

Hi Anil, Yes. You can do, but then you will be missing out the benefit of JSV.
