Mini merlo vs. Tree… tarmac on the farm

- Getting some wood sorted, felling a tree with the mini merlo because Roy’s chainsaw got stuck 🙃😂 what am I having for dinner tonight? Pulling ragwort it’s an awful job, tyres onto the silage pit after sheeting up.
in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
we are in a transitional period at present and will finally be milking cows and making the final switch later this year, after years of planning and implementing infrastructure we will be milking 120 Jersey cows on two Lely robots. This will be a huge change and a steep learning curve
I will be taking you all along for the ride so hit that subscribe button and see you every other day for farming vlogs.
I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

Yes definitely strip all the ragwort out! I support this 👏🙏.
As a pest controller i would guess the hole lookks very much like a rat hole.
I love the morals of not going with hello fresh,i respect that!
Great video 🙏
Brilliant video love watching them
1794 not 1974 . Sorry to be pedantic but I remember seeing it in my parents field before 1974.
Keep up with all your good work. 😊
Hole in waste silage could have been badgers looking for bugs.I have seen them doing it where I tip lawn clippings at home late at night
..... Brilliant ... thx for giving us a peak into your life .... ashphalt wants scaping off equip right away otherwise a royal pain .. you know this, just felt the need to make sure .... had to chuckle at the picking up the sheers where they landed when we got the back story ..... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
It's like watching a Farmer P video what with tree team, ragwort and skidsteers.
Love watching you guys. You're amazing.
Ah...the old farmer cut! Those old ashdie back trees are tricky to fell with so much dead wood about them....get Roy a pair of chainsaw trousers for Christmas or something 😮😂 yeah we've missed the whats for tea bit!😂😂
What are they? Special pants?
Chainsaw trousers are designed to bind and stop the chain before it takes your leg off. Many prefer to assume chainsaw accidents only happen to others and don’t want the hinderance. It’s funny how it’s just those who’ve been affected one way or another think it’s a good idea and those that haven’t don’t 🤷♂️
I love the way you work on the farmer Charlotte l love you Charlotte ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am so exhausted with all the running around you have done on the farm today 😂😂 and I must say you all work god damed hard ❤ and the last sheep what's his name I just adore him ❤️ oh and that joint yum yum don't blame you refusing 👍great video today loved it and Hi Spider Cat xxx ❤
I think you may find Common Ragwort is native. Just saying. Love your vids.
Hi Charlotte, It's good having friends in the right places, especially when they are giving away free asphalt. Did you find the rodent that was in the dry muck or not? You got another plane flying by, I look forward to them in your videos. I miss my wood fire to keep me warm in winter. The councils have restricted where you can get wood yourself, so we have to pay up to £95 for a square yard of split firewood delivered. You didn't film the chase of the ewes on the main road, it would have been a good laugh. Thanks for sharing your interesting farm life. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.
Sounded like a Texan T1 showing off Charlotte lol
That's Great work Charlotte your hard work girl ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks love x x
Love watching you guys. You're amazing.
Please buy some chainsaw PPE. And then use it, don't leave it in the shed.❤
Roy always wears his safety glasses don’t worry
@charlotteashleyfarm good answer. Better than just squinting 😆
I was looking forward to tree fellas but I saw only one ☹️
great video
Great video as usual Charlotte, your such an impressive lady. 👏🏻 👏🏻😍
I’m not really just annoying very loud and need entertaining all the time
Way i see it the birds and the bees survived fine before ragwort, but as its classed as an foreign invasive species you are supposed to remove it if you see it
Good video Charlotte 👍👍👍
Thanks so much sandy x x x x
Hi Charlotte Nice one Thanks again
Thanks darran x x
Another great video Charlotte, I believe when horses were the only power used in agriculture and other transportation, people could be heavily fined if ragwort was found on their property.
I did t know this how it should be in my book, but like dipping now that should also be compulsory
Great video as always Charlotte
Thank you so much x x
Nice update Charlotte. Do gooders be saying Roy has not got any protective clothing on. The horrible weed gets everywhere NASTY !
He’s got safety glasses on he always does ✌🏻
One slip can take your leg off. Too many people have wished they'd worn it. I know two farmer friends who have the scars to prove it.
Great update Charlotte!
Thanks so much x x
Charlotte, you must wear proper gloves for pulling Ragwort! You can take the toxins in via your skin, I always fork it so the roots come up. great video's.
Ahhh... you made spot Inky too easy for me today my love 😂❤❤
Ha ha ha she was gonna get a shock if she walked over that tarmac wasn’t she
Charlotte, unfortunately there are so many people with a view on conservation and wild life that do not understand the implications of there actions, if you increase the number of any species some other species will suffer but if you encourage any species that does not have any predation on them it can be a good money earner for some originations, the same for rivers if you persuade people it is good for the environment to not manage rivers hey presto you save a fortune, I am so sad for the countryside that I have been so lucky to have lived my life in, but I am also glad I am the age I am at least I will not have to witness it being F--- it much more than it is already
Get a ragweed puller absolute lifesaver you can do it one handed
As always great video Charlotte ! What's the artist/song title at 10:20 please ?? Keep up the great work.
What A women.... 😂😂
I had 12 lapwings nesting in a field , the a Bussard made a nest in a tree 25 years a go and the Lapwings went, Bussard went the next year , Lapwings never came back
Literally how it works they protect themselves isn’t it sad how we will loose them all because of a crappy disruptive bird 🦅
Could the buzzards of been the reason for the hedgehog on the bail a few vids ago ???
I dunno honestly I don’t know they don’t seem to be doing any good though!! As common as pigeons round here now 😭
My neighbour cut his foot using a chain saw and a man that used to repair things locally lost an ear when the chainsaw kicked back. Both were experienced with chainsaws. PLEASE get some protection! I know it is a nuisance, but so is a stay in hospital.
What foot protection do people have?

Several of the chainsaw manufactures can supply boots and other protective equipment.
Were you watching Joe again when putting the tyres on the silage lol

@@charlotteashleyfarm yeah o do knw you the wrong side of the penines lol

When is this rain going to stop. 😤

Was that Joe calling and interrupting Roy on the phone...? 😏
No joke it’s every ten mins 😂😂😂

You were totally a winner today 😂
@@charlotteashleyfarm well im a devoted fan :) was making carrot cake so wasnt as rushed
That is the trouble with having too many predators.
Isn’t it I’m sure there’s no way to change it legally is there 🤬🤬🤬

@@charlotteashleyfarmjust a bit of family stuff going on
Waste of time putting tarmac on a mud base.
It’s too dig up and use as gravel on a farm lane. Only concrete in a farm yard
