    Great work with all three of those stones! Have you ever tried polishing on cloth wheels with buffing compound (like Zam) as a final step? The Genie has an attachment with two wheels that quickly spins onto the right shaft to do this. In my very limited experience it improves the shine noticeably.

    Hiya! Concerning those fractures that keep bugging you, there is something that might help. You can try to heat them in the oven, and when they are hot enough, rub a white candle on it. The wax will creep into the cracks, improving the agates A LOT. You will still see them, but the end result might be way better. You may want to do this step before polishing, so no polishing powder gets in, and maybe again after polishing. Give it a go;)!

    Love these cutting videos, Dude i think these fractures happen (because of the temprature) and why this happen is because agates are sensitive to sudden temprature changes and while you are sawing the gem it heats up and suddenly, water cools it SOOoo fractures happen :(

    • @AgateDad
      @AgateDad  Год назад

      I’ve wondered that too but if you pay attention to the exteriors, which it’s super easy to see on the dark nodule, there are fractures on the outside of them. Those large fractures are already there. Sometimes, there is fractures on the cut face and they are micro, those are from the saw blade. The big ones are natural though.
