If A Line Is Increasing ( From Left To Right ) Slope Is Increasing
If A Line Is Decreasing ( From Left To Right ) Slope Is Decreasing
If A Line Is Horizontal Slope Is Zero
If A Line Is Vertical Slope Is Undefined
Critical Points ( Derivative Of Function Is Zero Or Undefined )
1st Derivative Test
If a function changes from positive to negative then function will achieve highest value ( Relative Maxima )
If a function changes from negative to positive then function will achieve smallest value ( Relative Minima )
2nd Derivative Test
If the 2nd derivative is positive then function has relative minima ( Concave Up )
If the 2nd derivative is negative then function has relative maxima ( Concave Down )
If the function changes from concave up to concave down or vice versa then function will have inflection point at that point.
