We've run Rubicon over 20 times since 1990 with a 78 CJ,304 T18,411 GEARS,31 WRANGLER RT TIRES,one piece axles,and only a Trak loc in rear.Having a spotter that knows what he's doing is why WE have made this run so many times (Barret,Sierra Trek,Rubicon)so much fun.Watching people with 50000 Jeeps with their lockers and no driving skills is entertaining. Get a competent spotter and it will take the stress and damage out of the equation. We take 3 days on our Rubicon trips because fishing and camping makes it so much better,good luck
Watching the full sized rigs is pretty cool. Especially the four door Chevy and GMC. I have a well built Cherokee if there is a chance of my son and I tagging along.

I live on the east coast and I’m building a trail rig. I’m taking a work sabbatical next summer and hitting west coast parks and trails. It’s my lifelong dream. If I find a group hitting the Rubicon. I just may join in.

Beautiful trail! The Rubicon has been on my bucket list ever since I got started with 4 wheel drives and I bought my first 4 Wheel & Off Road magazine in 1984... I'm 50 now. Too bad I'm on the east coast.
Totally bad ass. I know mine is only 1/2 ton axles, but I’ll still be able to get to places I’ve wanted to go. Then if the 1/2 ton axles fail to many times I’ll do 60’s. Awesome video 👍🏻
Exactly! No need to build it until you know what is gonna break. If you plan on going much larger than 35’s you will start having some issues but careful driving you can manage. In short, don’t bounce the truck up obstacles!!

Lol. I wish. I do love Cali though. Everyone seems to think that Cali is just LA and the Bay Area. It is so much more. Mt Whitney, Yosemite, the lost coast, Mojave desert, the sierras, Lake Tahoe. There is so much awesomeness. Yea our laws can suck but you can surf and snowboard world class waves and mountains in the same day!! That’s insane!

I have seen the most hideous destructions of new Jeeps driven by pure tools on the Rubicon. If you want a good laugh ride a bike through and watch the destruction derby at your leisure! It is one to behold on a busy day.
I wondered about crawling with full-size rigs? I mean I’ve seen it done. I watch busted knuckle films & bleepn Jeep,mischief maker tv religiously! But it’s all jeeps,tube frame buggies some Toyota’s which are all bad ass but no full size. I’m thinking of buying a ram charger for hella cheap, just not sure how good of a crawler/off-roader it would make? Off road would be good just crawling. Anyway great vid liked & subbed!!

Im a driveshaft away from completing my 91 xj and collecting parts to sas and 1 ton my 2001 silverado i have the D60 for rear what's a good axle for the front i only want to run 37s.
That’s good they have bathrooms. In remote areas I’ll dig a hole. But more popular places I’ll pack out all my waste. Bathrooms are way better than bags of poop in the trasharoo.

solid axle swap it, so u can push the wheel base foward to properly clear the 37s

Based on your experience here, would a flat-bed help the full-sized trucks with departure? Thinking about doing something like this myself
It would but building a heavy duty skid is prob easier and maintains the use of the bed!

Well there is a lot of torque in these engines so prob not as high as you think. I run 4.56 and so do most of the rest.

You can get away with a Dana 44 if you build it, but just go Dana 60 imo

No, there a few bypasses but not many.
